During my visit to Syracuse (The post of which I still haven’t gotten up yet at my regular blog) I stopped by to see Karen the Lonely Conservative and introduce her to my wife and sons.  it was a fine visit as it’s a great pleasure to let the people I met through writing meet my family.

Karen doesn’t blog anymore as life is too busy and I really understand that.  Many of the “old” bloggers have moved on as trying to keep a readership and have something to say every day isn’t easy.  That got me thinking.

There are I suspect a lot of such people I know who might have something to say once in a while, don’t want to go on twitter for it, but don’t want to maintain a blog anymore.

That’s where DaTechGuy’s home for retired bloggers comes in.

I propose to make this backup site a site for bloggers who wish to occasionally vent without the pressure of doing it full time anymore.  The membership will be limited to bloggers I know or folks recommended by such bloggers, the posts will be their own and there will no schedule or times to post.  If you feel like posting, post, and if your posts are a day a month or a year apart that’s fine too.

I only ask that you follow these rules in terms of posting.

No support of abortion, transgendersim, gay marriage or jihad.  My name is still on the site.

Don’t post porn, don’t be overly vulgar and while critique of the Catholic Church is acceptable (and with our current Pope more justified that usual) I won’t have any “The Catholic Church is the antichrist” bs here.  I’m a believing Catholic and any blog with my name on it won’t be carrying stuff like that.

If you have an interest in being invited contact me in comments or via email and subject to the restrictions above I’ll be happy to give you a space for the occasional post.

The True Leaders of the Democrat Party

Abe Greenwald:

Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib brought the disease of anti-Semitism into the upper echelons of the Democratic Party when they were elected in November. The party could have fought the disease. It chose instead to nurture it. And that’s when the irreversible rot set in.

The rot explains why Democrats, from Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi on down, are vigorously defending Tlaib’s recent lies about Arabs welcoming Jews after the Holocaust. It doesn’t matter what Tlaib or Omar say, how blunt their Jew-hatred is, or how often it’s aired. (…)

Both the Democratic leadership and the liberal media establishment will back these bigots against any and all charges of anti-Semitism in return for smooth relations with the social-justice left.

For a long time, I’ve said that nearly every member of Congress is pre-selected and screened – particularly House candidates — before he/she is allowed to run for office. Yes, allowed.

So, the anti-Semitism, hard leftism, and plain old anti-intellectualism that Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez bring to the Democrat Party is no accident. And, unlike several other moronic and racist House members like Eric Swalwell, all three are double- or triple-covered by being women and by being members of various other “victim” classes: black, Muslim, Arab, Puerto-Rican, immigrant. And, unlike, say, Maxine Waters and Sheila Jackson Lee, they are very young.

What other conclusion is there to come to other that this: the Democrats have performed the Coconut Treatment on their own party.

Nancy Pelosi can’t control them, much less any white male authority figure in Congress. All of them are too afraid of being called racist, sexist, or bigoted.

Because of this, the three women are the true leaders of the congressional Democrats, and, perhaps, the entire party.

And, really? It’s refreshing to see the fruit of postmodernism out in the open and, hopefully, biting the Democrats on their own collective backsides.

I’m sure that there are hundreds more just like Omar, Tlalib and Ocasio-Cortez waiting in the wings for the fogies in the Democrat Congress to keel over and die. (And I wouldn’t put it past certain entities to speed things up.)

Yes, there will be more like the Three Amigas presenting themselves and their hard leftism, identity politics and, yes, anti-Semitism to the American public. Most of them will have sub-par reasoning skills — by design of their puppeteers. And our choices will become more starkly contrasting.

That’s when the real battle begins. Only then will we will find out what kind of country 21st-century America really is.

It won’t be long now.

Fret not. It will be fun!

A Little Bit About Those Refugee Camps in Kenya

With two Somali-Americans – Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN-5) and Sports Illustrated “swimsuit” model Halima Aden — being in the news of late, I think it’s important to dispense some information about a singular part of their backgrounds.

Both spent their childhoods in Kenyan refugee camps.

If you recall, the last time a person whose lineage was from that part of the world became famous, a lot of made-up information (read: lies) was spread around and, over a decade later, I still see some of it. Therefore, I’d like to get out a little ahead of information on the refugee camps, or, at least run alongside of it.

I don’t intend for this to be any kind of expose on the camps — kind of difficult to do anything like that from my living room in Los Angeles — nor is this an opinion piece about the women. I’ve made my opinions about Omar plain, and, as for Aden’s SI hijab-burkini debut, I’m agnostic on the topic other than the fact that I think that swimming in full hijab might be dangerous. Also, she seems like a nice young lady.

My only purpose here is to provide accurate information available from open sources about the camps .

From World of Camps:

The Dadaab refugee camp complex is situated in northeastern Kenya, near the border with Somalia. Until early 2017, it consisted of five refugee camps. However, one of the camps, Kambioos, which was also the newest, was recently closed as refugees began returning to Somalia and the few remaining moved into the other camps.

Dadaab was established in the year 1991 following the beginning of the civil war in Somalia. Somalis were forced to flee as the war worsened, leaving to neighbouring countries including Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan.

The Dadaab Complex consists of five smaller camps: Dagahaley, Hagadera, Ifo, Ifo II and Kambioos. The latter two camps were opened in 2011 when more Somalians fled their country to escape drought and subsequent famine.

Who manages and funds these camps? Why, the UN, of course. Its Twitter feed is here. And there are many more foreign agencies involved.

Kenya has been trying to shut down this complex and repatriate its inhabitants since 2013.

From Kenya’s Daily Nation:

[T]he camp situated in Garissa county has been the centre of protracted negotiations between the Kenya government, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Somalia.

This will be the fourth attempt to close it.

In 2013, the three parties had signed a tripartite agreement to source funds, prepare the ground back in Somalia and facilitate the voluntary return of refugees. Those who accepted were to be given a stipend and other support.

But refugees seem to have shied away from this programme. Figures from UNHCR show that the number of refugees who left the camp on their own is more than those who went under the guided programme.

In 2014, there were about 350,000 refugees. Today, the camp hosts 210,556 refugees, of which 202,381 are from Somalia.

By their own law, the Kenyans are prohibited from simply throwing the refugees out, which is good because I suspect that they’ve had enough of the Somalis

Back to our two subject personalities.

Omar, 37, was born in Mogadishu, Somalia. She and her family spent four of her childhood years in the Dadaab complex. She entered the United States in 1992 and became an American citizen in 2000.

Halima Aden. Cite.

Aden, 21, was born in a camp called Kakuma, which is not part of the Dadaab complex. It is located on the opposite end of Kenya and, therefore much further away from the Kenya-Somalia border than is Dadaab. She and her family came to America when she was six. I can only find one article mentioning her citizenship; the writer assumes that she is an American citizen.

As we know, the largest concentration of Somali refugees and Somali-Americans in the USA is in Minnesota, which is where both women live.

And here’s a little more opining from me: regardless of what one thinks of either woman, it is for certain that they both hit the jackpot.

ADDENDUM:

Dadaab gains a new benefactor.

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) [of Saudi Arabia] is set to open a regional relief office in Kenya that will aid refugees in the Dadaab Refugee Camp.

According to the General Supervisor of the Center Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah, the organization will also provide urgent food and medical assistance to Kenyans facing starvation.

He stated that last year, it distributed over 1,200 tonnes of relief food aid to the Dadaab refugees after the UN cut funding and food aid ratio for the 3 refugee camps of Ifo, Hagadera and Dagahaley. [Ed note: It appears that there are more camps in the complex than are named in some sources. JAO]

It’s quite amusing to see the left go all out of Joe Biden these days, partially because I think of all the potential Democrat candidates Joe Biden is one of the most, if not THE most dangerous for Donald Trump to face and conservatives underestimate him at our peril.

But what’s really Amusing is to note how the Joe Biden story, Like the Jeffery Epstein story (you know the fellow who got off easy concerning underage hookers and a private Island) this story perfectly illustrates not one but TWO of DaTechGuy’s Laws of Media outrage.

The Joe Biden story, like the Jeffery Epstein Story before was well known and conservative writers like myself, Instapundit and Robert Stacy McCain had brought it up repeatedly. However even though the Biden story involved a sitting vice Preisdent and Bill Clinton was an ex president nobody in the MSM had any interest, why? DaTechGuy’s 2nd Law of Media Outrage:

The level of acceptance of the positions and/or actions of any group or organization by the left and media is directly proportional to their current or potential value in electing liberal Democrats.

As long as Joe Biden was Obama’s man and Jeffrey Epstein Bill Clinton’s then Biden’s actions as well as the action of the AG who let Epstein off with a wrist slap were completely acceptable to the left and media and thus were not worth of any publicity per DaTechGuy’s 3rd law of media outrage

The MSM’s elevation and continued classification of any story as Nationally Newsworthy rather than only of local interest is in direct correlation to said story’s current ability to affirm any current Democrat/Liberal/Media meme/talking point, particularly on the subject of race or sexuality.

As long as the Biden and Epstein stories were potentially harmful to Democrats they were not newsworthy or wroth reporting. Once the Epstein AG became part of the Trump Administration and Bill Clinton was already tarred by the METOO movement (and Hillary considered no longer viable as a candidate) suddenly the Epstein story was newsworthy.

And now Joe Biden, finding himself a non-socialist white straight male in a party that ascribes all the ills of the universe to such people is suddenly expendable to a large swath of the Democrat left and thus to a large swath of the political left now an expendable potential liability, suddenly his actions are newsworthy and unacceptable.

To be sure some of the old guard (Mika, Whoppi and Pelosi) continue to defend him but as far as the MSM is concerned Joe Biden is now a liability to the left and thus worthy of all the scrutiny that a conservative might be subjected to.
