Cokie Roberts repeats the John Lewis lie, and the panel pounds on Fox and once again nobody touches the words Breitbart actually used.

When Jake Tapper quotes Sherrod saying that Breitbart wants to return to the days of slavery and Donna Brazille ducks saying she doesn’t want to comment on her.

The self righteousness on Donaldson et/al who had no trouble when the NAACP and the media have gone after the tea parties with false charges of racism speaks very poorly of them. It’s all about the loss of control of the narrative.

This show will really be hurt when Tapper leaves it.

Update: Oh and who are Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly? The people that the public trust more than you these days Sam because you, the mainstream media spent the trust you had like a drunken sailor for the sake of your agenda.

Update 2: What the sad thing? Other than fox ABC had more conservatives on the panel than anyone else.

God is funny like that

I moan a little about some long terms troubles and look at what my pastor writes in the bulletin this week:

Winners never quit and quitters never win. Did you ever have a coach or a teacher or a parent tell you that when you were a child? It’s still great advice. Perseverance is a powerful virtue but it is a tough one. It’s hard to keep going when it appears that we’re making no progress. But that is exactly the advice which Jesus gives to His disciples. Persevere in prayer. Never give up. Believe that God hears you and that God will answer when the time is right. It doesn’t mean that God will answer in the way that we want, but that God will answer. We are not abandoned. We are not alone.

The breakthrough in humanity’s understanding of our relationship to God was in the first words of the prayer which Jesus taught. Our Father. God is a loving father, not a fierce being detached from us and our concerns. Our Father. Not “my” Father, but “our” Father. We are a part of a community of believers. We are One in God through Christ and the Holy Spirit. It’s never us against them, but all of us before the throne of a loving God who is our father.

Each word of this most perfect prayer is worthy of an extensive, prayerful study. In just the first two words, Jesus turns upside down the world’s pattern of prayer and invites to see God in an entirely different light. No matter how bleak the circumstances, those two words alone give us the hope to persevere.

Peace and Good Will,

At Mass, this week’s Gospel Luke 11:1-13 is all about perseverance. It’s exactly the message I needed today at the time I needed it the most. God is funny like that.

With the big dramatic ending and the very heavy situation you might have expected something with high terror, and a tense as a person can get. The Big Bang delivered almost exactly the opposite.

Was there some tension? Sure, where there several live and death moments, yup. But on the whole The Big Bang is a totally uplifting and lighthearted story that is just plain fun.

It’s not what you would expect from a season finale, the tension isn’t from the saving of the universe, it comes afterwords and plays itself very well.

Arthur Darvill’s Rory nearly steals the first third of the episode, his scenes with the Amy and the Doctor are powerful and really make the episode in a lot of way. Most of the “heavy” time comes from it yet even so the writing is so good that it isn’t so heavy that we can’t deal with it.

Alex Kingston has a much smaller part, but that’s ok, she is not the focus of the episode and she does have one very memorable moment.

One attractive piece of the story is the fact that not everything is resolved. That gives us something to look forward to for next season.

One final thing about all of this there is a big discontinuity with the fifth Doctor Episode Mawdryn Undead that longtime fans will spot right off, but we’ll let the BBC handle that.

That last 10 minutes contain not only some of the most pleasant moments of the entire run and something takes place that has never ever happened in the whole 47 years.

I’d have to say The Pandorica Opens is slightly better but the difference is so slight as to be almost meaningless.

One last thought, this episode is 55 minutes long, The Pandorica is 50 minutes long, that leaves only 15 minutes in two hours for commercials so I expect they will do some cutting. Perhaps they will cut the opening credits in the 2nd episode to save a few but I will be very upset if they slice and dice this thing.

Last Episode: The Pandorica Opens

Next Episode: Only 5 months away!

than what the hell is he good for?

The bloodbath continues along our southern border and now word is coming in that Los Zetas, the highly trained killers formerly with the Gulf Cartel, have crossed into the United States and taken over at least two ranches in the Laredo, Texas area. I am receiving word that the owners of the ranches have evacuated without being harmed.

Founder of the San Diego Minutemen Jeff Schwilk tipped me off to this story and passes along the following information on the location. The ranches are said to be “near Mines Rd. and Minerales Annex Rd about 10 miles NW of I-35”.

This is job of the president and the federal government. If they can’t figure that out then they have no business in the job, period!

memeorandum thread here.

Now if it is not true, then…nevermind. I’ll post updates when I know more.

Update: Confederate Yankee has done some leg work and it looks like it is not true, or at least not what it sounds like, so for now I will use the strike tag, If I get evidence in the other direction I will un-strike.

Update 2: This is going to the top of Memeorandum, in record time, bad sign as it appears false but on that topic Moonbattery makes a good point:

Is this really happening? Probably not (despite the upsurge in violence just over the border), but what’s even scarier than the heavily armed Los Zetas is that stories like this have become difficult to confirm or refute.

Without confirmation from some authority I’ve gotta assume false unless overwhelming evidence shows otherwise, and a lot of memeorandum hits doesn’t qualify as overwhelming evidence.

Update 3: The confederate yankee gets his own thread on memeorandum

Update 4: Looks Like I’m going to have to unstrike from this report.
