Congress faster than GoDaddy

Posted: February 9, 2018 by datechguy in Uncategorized

Yesterday was a bad day for meeting deadlines CPAC is rapidly coming and I still a bunch of new business cards for a show forced to reruns and a site that isn’t there.

Meanwhile in Washington, Pelosi’s droning not withstanding, the final budget deal, while in place,  had still not passed and the clock was ticking to midnight.

I had spent every free moment removing every single big of graphics data from 2011-2014 I went back to talk to godddy to see if I had jumped though enough of their hoops to get datechguyblog back up.  I was informed in chat at 2:45 pm yesterday that the site suspension was off and it would be back up in 24 hours.  I had to head to work and I don’t have a smart phone or net access so I decided to worry about it when I got home.

When I did things much as when I left, Rand Paul being at least consistent had held up thinks in the senate and nothing had passed in the house, meanwhile, my wife still could not breathe if she lay down and I still had no site.  So I figured I’d sleep on it and when I woke up I’d check again.

Well after a coughing fit (I never said I was well yet) and some errands it’s 10:42 AM my site is not up set as Godaddy seems determined to make me wait the full 24 twenty four hours but things have moved in congress:

The House has been working on the legislation since 2:30amET. The Freedom Caucus is not expected to sign on to the bill. Some Democrats like clown Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) are also not going to support the bill: “So today, they are going to bring over from the Senate a proposal, they are going to lift the caps and they’re going to say, let’s vote on our budget. Well, I say to everybody — don’t collude with this administration,” Gutierrez said. “Vote against the budget.” Maybe he should leave office, because his job is to work with the administration and it looks like he doesn’t want to do that job.

Developing…

EDITED TO ADD: The House passed the bill, it’s about 5:40amET.

So here we are, Godaddy has managed to move slower than congress.

That’s quite a feat

Nancy {hearts} Antonio

Nancy Pelosi spent eight hours babbling on the House floor the other day, presumably over DACA.

Now, DACA has become the Dems’ favorite issue. How can the mean Republicans – or anyone, for that matter – not love the idea that persons who are breaking the law should leapfrog and be given preference over foreigners who are spending time and treasure in the legal immigration process? The Republicans must be racist!

After all, even Nancy’s six year old grandson wants to look like Antonio!

NANCY PELOSI: I’m reminded of my own grandson. He is Irish, English, whatever, whatever, and Italian-American, he is a mix. But he looks more the other [Italian] side of the family, shall we say.
And when he had his sixth birthday… he had a very close friend whose name is Antonio, he’s from Guatemala. And he has beautiful tan skinned, beautiful brown eyes, and this was a proud day for me, because when my grandson blew out the candles on his cake, they said did you make a wish?
He said yes, he made a wish. What is your wish? I wish I had brown skin and brown eyes like Antonio.

What is it with Dems that makes them inject their progeny when they attempt to make a political point?

How many times have we heard, “How do I explain Donald Trump to my four year old?” Are we supposed to believe four year olds are precocious enough to dip a tiny toe into the political swamp on their own?

Excuse my skepticism, but I’m more likely to believe that Nancy’s grandson is more enthused about orbiting Mars in a Tesla than about looking like he has a nice tan and his grandmother’s brown eyes. Especially since Antonio, Guatemalan as he may be, could as well look Sicilian, name and all.

Nancy’s little anecdote reminds of Greta Ohlsson in the 1974 version of Murder on the Orient Express,

I was born backwards. That is why I work in Africa as missionary, teaching little brown babies more backwards than myself.

As it is, Even House Dems Wonder: What Was The Point Of The Pelosi Filibuster?

Could it be that

Pelosi wanted to make herself look good for the cameras at the expense of her caucus

Too bad Greta Ohlsson couldn’t think of that.

Chip: Thank you, sir! May I have another?

Animal House 1968

I have a message and a story for angry Democrat activist disappointed with the left on  DACA.

Back in the days when I was writing alone on this blog by design rather than because Godaddy wants to treat me as their servant rather than their customer, the majority in the house was a Democrat one led by the same Nancy Pelosi who spend hours holding the floor today.

At the same time the Senate was held by the now retired Democrat Harry Reid who while as dishonest and dishonorable as they come managed not only a majority but a filibuster-proof majority.

And the president at that time was Barack Obama who was so popular he managed to win the Nobel Peace prize just for existing.

There are many unflattering things one can honestly say about Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, some of which are not printable, even in a backup blog.   But in terms of political power and savvy  and its application both were adept Mr. Reid in my opinion more so than Ms. Pelosi as he, believe it not had less scruples than she did, particularly when dealing with fellow senators.  These two were pros who had power and were willing to use it to get what they wanted.

Yet neither of them spent as much time legislatively on legalizing illegals or DACA kids during their entire time in the majority when they could have passed any bill they wanted than Nancy Pelosi did today trying to convince you that she really gives a damn about you.

Now as a conservative I’m of course pleased that this was the case, but I think it’s important for you to remember that you are being used as a bunch of suckers and have been for years.

I suspect you know this but until you are willing to publicly acknowledge this it will continue to happen.

24 Hours to Lose a Narrative

Posted: February 7, 2018 by datechguy in Uncategorized

Not a lot of time to write with my site woes still in the forefront but I’d like to point out one thing of some interest.

Just 24 hours ago the MSM was all in with the idea that the 1000 point stock market drop proved that the markets were in retreat thanks to Trump forgetting that even with that drip the market was up thousands of points since he started killing regulation…

Then the Market rallied the next day and now suddenly the narrative is you can’t judge stocks day to day.

That will be the narrative until the next day of profit taking kicks in.

With the shifting narratives on releasing classified documents (it’s good, it’s bad, it’s good again, maybe not all in week) I really don’t see how the media keeps its credibility in their own eyes, but hey as Baghdad Bob would say, a guy has to make a living doesn’t he?

Update: Why the shifting narratives on the Dem memo? Because while the GOP was trying to expose malfeasance without compromising FBI sources & methods the Democrat memo is exactly the opposite:

“It’s full of sources and methods,” said one lawmaker, referring to highly classified information. “It includes material that they clearly cannot release,” said another. “It’s nothing but sources and methods,” said a third. “Even to the footnotes.”

The inclusion of all that classified information has Republicans speculating on Democratic strategy. (A Democratic spokesman declined to comment.) One widely held theory is that the memo was intentionally written in a way that the FBI, Justice Department, and White House would have little choice but to recommend extensive redactions.

“Part of what they are going to do is to talk about how the White House redacted their memo and didn’t redact the Republican one,” said one of the lawmakers quoted above. “Part of the plan was, let’s create a document that gets eviscerated in the scrubbing and comes out with a bunch of redactions and they say, look, the White House is hiding something.”

Those suspicions were fueled Monday when Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, told reporters, “We want to make sure that the White House does not redact our memo for political purposes, and obviously that’s a deep concern.”

“I am concerned they will make political redactions, not redactions to protect sources and methods,” Schiff continued. He said Democrats will demand that any redactions be “fully explained” by the FBI, Justice Department, and White House.

It’s worth noting, not only did the GOP vote unanimously to release both memos as opposed to dems who voted on a party line but the same media/left that spent a week falsely claiming security was at risk with the release of memo one isn’t crying security today.
