Fun day at the beach

This Sunday our parish priest talked about the importance of taking time to relax and rest, so this week we spend a large chunk of the day on Salisbury beach.

We got there fairly early and I had a wonderful time, a bit of a dip followed by a combination of a good book and audio doctor who’s on my temporary Ipod.

Once done after a quick bite we went to Joe Playland where we absolutely demolished the Family Guy Pinball machine and had our first look at the new Indiana Jones Pinball that includes all four movies. The original game is one of the single best pinball machines I’ve ever played.

This new machine was expensive (75 cents a game) but was very creative. Here is a brief film I found on the machine elsewhere:

Is it superior to the old game, I’m not ready to say that but it is pretty good.

We then drove north toward Hampton beach and the strip there, then further up the coast for a bit and saw some of the most expensive houses you’ve ever seen. They were a sight almost as beautiful and incredible as the coast itself.

From there the next stop was Kimball’s farm for ice cream in Westford Mass. I remember when it was just an ice cream stand with a few farm animals. After a time a gift show was added. The last time I visited they had mini golf, bumper boats and a driving range. Monday when we went down a new BBQ grill area serving all kinds of fried grilled and BBQ meats and fish, an exotic animal area, a midway/arcade (no pinball how barbaric) and finally hot air balloon rides where for $15 bucks you get 8 minutes at 300 feet.

If you are looking for an excellent first date to take a girl, this place is it.

So in the end it was a fun and relaxing day, I haven’t gotten in a lot of blogging and a lot of it hasn’t been political, but you know what, I’m not going to let my problems or this president keep me from living and enjoying the one life I have. All these things are important and I’ve expressed my opinion on them and will continue to do so, but not at the expense of my life.

Presidents and supreme court justices come and go, but real life is always there.

…at least that’s what this ad leads me to believe.
The small text is even more amazing:

Fill your desire for something long, juicy and flamed grilled with the new BK super 7 incher?

Am I actually reading this? Can’t anyone play this game?

ICE CREAM!

The local coffee shop that opened up during that nasty ice storm last year has decided to use the old ice cream freezer and fountain apparatus.

The just got a delivery of cones and ice cream and intend to offer ice cream and floats and frappes like an old fashioned Ice cream parlor.

The idea that a neighborhood ice cream fountain is opening is an incredible thing to me. 25 years ago there was a local pharmacy a block from this spot (it is now a hair salon) that had a ice cream fountain. It had been in the neighborhood for decades. The return of such a local ice cream place just in time for summer is a wonderful thing.

So if you find yourself on the 5th street bridge some summer day park your car and go into the old time cafe and get yourself a cone (and don’t forget the fish is awsome).

Red Sox Win, Celtics win, Bruins win!

The Celtics win in the last second on a dramatic shot by big baby:

Everyone dreams of taking the final shot in the final second, but not everyone really wants to do it. Truth be told, most guys want the ball in their hands as time is running out about as much as they want to sit next to someone with swine flu on a three-hour plane flight.

Glen Davis, however, wanted the ball as the final seconds were disappearing and the Celtics [team stats] options had dwindled down to him. When he got it with both Game 4 and the Eastern Conference semifinal series in jeopardy, he did what big men do in big situations, hitting a face-up, 21-foot jump shot as time expired to keep the Celtics from all but doing the same.

It was an amazing moment.

The Bruins win in a blowout.

The B’s dominated the game from start to finish in their 4-0 win over the Hurricanes in Game 5 to keep their season alive. Tim Thomas earned his first career playoff shutout by turning aside all 19 shots he faced, while Phil Kessel led the way offensively with 2 goals.

Carolina didn’t even belong in the arena and the cheap shots showed it.

Pappelbon after putting two men on strikes out the side to win it.

Jonathan Papelbon powered his way out of a ninth inning jam with three straight strikeouts after Jason Bay doubled home the go-ahead run in the eighth, and the Boston Red Sox beat Tampa Bay 4-3 Sunday night.

And not only did the wife and mother and aunt have a great dinner at the Southside Grille in Gardner but the Yankees, well the yankees

It’s not just the top seats at the new Yankee Stadium that are selling poorly – tickets around the stadium are being resold online at prices well below face value, Crain’s New York reports.

Tickets for next Tuesday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles were listed for as little as $7 on fansnap.com, compared to $14 for the cheapest seats sold by the team directly.

At that rate, a ticket will cost you less than a beer at the spiffy new stadium.

Thirty-dollar grandstand seats are available for $11, and $50 seats in the outfield terrace section start at $17.

Life is VERY good.
