That is the answer to her piece about one terms presidents.

Winning may not be the only thing, but in politics, it’s the thing that makes everything else possible.

That is actually a pretty solid statement and the next two are significant as well:

Being a one-term president is a badge of failure, not success, even if it comes by being true to your convictions.

Being a one-term president means that, for the next term, someone who rejects those convictions will be making the decisions that count. How can that be a good thing?

KingGold not withstanding she makes an important point (remember Polk didn’t run for re-election) you need both convictions and the willingness and ability to make your case to the American People to succeed in the White House. The fact that Polk comes to mind so quickly makes her case since when you have only a single exception to prove a rule false, it’s usually a pretty good general rule. (There is also Grover Cleveland who after losing due to following his convictions defeated the person who beat him four years later.) Her argument fails for a totally different reason; she is making the wrong case.

Susan thinks the problem is being so true to his convictions, that people are forgetting the second part of the equation here.

She is misreading these people, the leftists lionizing one term presidency are trying to make lemonade out of lemons.

The problem is not that president Obama doesn’t know how to make a case to the American People, he does, it’s that he has made his case for months and America has rejected it.

They have rejected it not because he didn’t make it properly, but because if you put dogfood on a cracker and call it Hors d’œuvres, no matter how you sell it, it’s still tastes like dogfood on a cracker.

Everybody is writing about the court ruling on the Arizona Law. On Morning Joe today they talked a little about the national political reaction.

On Morning Joe they briefly discussed the political impact of the ruling. Charles Blow of the NYT lived up to his name blowing smoke claiming it helps the White House while Mike Barnicle made an important point telling a story that MSNBC viewers likely never heard.

I have yet to see anyone point to the BIG effect this will have on the election. Not in 2010 (everyone knows that the Arizona Law helps republicans) but in 2012.

No matter who the Republican Nominee is they will be able to point to this ruling by a Clinton appointee, they will likely be able to point to a Supreme Court that will have every justice appointed by Barack Obama ruling against said law (Let’s not pretend Justice Sotomayor or a future justice Kagan will vote otherwise).

Abortion is usually the big gun (and don’t get me wrong I expect any republican appointee to be against abortion) but this is an argument that is going to resonate on 2012. Conservatives and tea party members should be making the point every time they make a stop that a vote for Obama is a vote to strike down the Arizona law in the supreme court.

If the ad isn’t already cut it oughta be.

Oh and the “Hispanic” vote is not monolithic on this issue no matter what Chuck Todd says on Morning Joe today.

than what the hell is he good for?

The bloodbath continues along our southern border and now word is coming in that Los Zetas, the highly trained killers formerly with the Gulf Cartel, have crossed into the United States and taken over at least two ranches in the Laredo, Texas area. I am receiving word that the owners of the ranches have evacuated without being harmed.

Founder of the San Diego Minutemen Jeff Schwilk tipped me off to this story and passes along the following information on the location. The ranches are said to be “near Mines Rd. and Minerales Annex Rd about 10 miles NW of I-35”.

This is job of the president and the federal government. If they can’t figure that out then they have no business in the job, period!

memeorandum thread here.

Now if it is not true, then…nevermind. I’ll post updates when I know more.

Update: Confederate Yankee has done some leg work and it looks like it is not true, or at least not what it sounds like, so for now I will use the strike tag, If I get evidence in the other direction I will un-strike.

Update 2: This is going to the top of Memeorandum, in record time, bad sign as it appears false but on that topic Moonbattery makes a good point:

Is this really happening? Probably not (despite the upsurge in violence just over the border), but what’s even scarier than the heavily armed Los Zetas is that stories like this have become difficult to confirm or refute.

Without confirmation from some authority I’ve gotta assume false unless overwhelming evidence shows otherwise, and a lot of memeorandum hits doesn’t qualify as overwhelming evidence.

Update 3: The confederate yankee gets his own thread on memeorandum

Update 4: Looks Like I’m going to have to unstrike from this report.

My latest Examiner article An expensive 12 hours deals with the NAACP and the Sherrod case a peek:

The Shirley Sherrod story this week certainly has not enhanced any reputations but one group in particular has rightly paid a higher price than all.

As always every click on my Examiner stuff is like a little click on the tip jar, so I encourage you to check it out along with the rest of my articles there.
