Interesting take on Morning Joe this morning:

The administration is now taking heat over its slow response to the oil leak. Joe and Mike Barnicle both agreed that BP was working with the government and that their response has been good.

This is in stark contrast to the Boot on the Neck rhetoric of the administration.

The problem is they can’t go after BP without highlighting the administrations response. Watch for more BP “stepping up to the plate” rhetoric on CNN & MSNBC.

With stories coming out about the Obama administration’s cash connections and the head of interior rafting while the gulf leaked the White House would rather have a different tone of stories out there.

Oh and Barnicle is right they have stepped up to the plate but nobody wanted to talk about that before.

…While Charlie Crist and environmental activists and democrats jump all over the oil spill in the gulf Morning Joe accidentally undermined their argument while bringing on an environmental activist to argue against the drilling.

There are a ton of wells in the gulf and in Alaska etc that produce oil every single day. Joe asked why people weren’t prepared for this and the answer was because the last time something like this happened was 1969.

Run that number through your head and think of the reality once again:

Basically an industry that provides a vast amount of energy for the country has a bad accident once every two generations that might take say six months to a year to clean?

Think about the things we wouldn’t do if we judged what we do because of a problem once every 40 years.

The people who are suddenly running away from drilling are using Rahm rule of never wasting a crisis and have decided not to waste this one. Tens of thousands of high paying jobs in the worst economy we have seen in 70 years are going to be sacrificed due to the political advantage for the left.

Palin is exactly right on this, and moreover she is proving that she is one of the only pols with the guts to say the truth:

All responsible energy development must be accompanied by strict oversight, but even with the strictest oversight in the world, accidents still happen. No human endeavor is ever without risk – whether it’s sending a man to the moon or extracting the necessary resources to fuel our civilization. I repeat the slogan “drill here, drill now” not out of naiveté or disregard for the tragic consequences of oil spills – my family and my state and I know firsthand those consequences. How could I still believe in drilling America’s domestic supply of energy after having seen the devastation of the Exxon-Valdez spill? I continue to believe in it because increased domestic oil production will make us a more secure, prosperous, and peaceful nation.

The question is who else will have the guts or political will to say this aloud

Ted Leonard is what you would call a “true believer”:

His opinion of President Obama was pretty consistent with everyone else in the crowd “Si Se Puede” cries not withstanding.

Just 12 hours ago I wrote this:

The new Fiscal commission has one single purpose: To give congressional democrats political cover for the creation of a national VAT/sales tax. Even rank and file democrats aren’t going to support this, but once there is a commission then the media will make it the “responsible” decision and the lemmings who walk with the democrats and the media will do so.

Right on cue here is the Washington post describing the VAT as responsible:

The sensible real-world answer, many economists argue, is a value-added tax that would encourage saving at the same time it pays down the deficit to manageable levels. But politicians are terrified of being right too soon on this one.

As opposed to actually freezing and/or cutting government which for some reason isn’t a sensible answer.

Unfortunately for David Ignatius et/al the public see through this stuff as Rasumssan reports:

President Obama this week formally kicked off meetings of his bipartisan deficit reduction commission, but most Americans view the commission as cover for Congress to raise taxes.

I think people might have finally decided they’ve had enough and all the MSM advocacy in the world is not going to change it.
