Not suspicious at all

by baldilocks

A mystery has taken hold of me.

Phil Haney was a founding member of the Department of Homeland Security – an agency that investigated him nine times and found nothing untoward. And this very same agency scrubbed its own records that Haney had been using to investigate Islamist terror networks in the United States.

Vaguely, I remember his name from my early days of blogging. He’s back in the news again; unfortunately for being dead.

From Carmine Sabia:

A man who had already exposed President Obama once and was about to do it again has been found shot to death in California.

Police originally labeled the death a suicide but now say that the initial reports were “misinformation” and the case is still open.

Haney blew the whistle on the Obama Administration for, he said, asking him to scrub the records of potential radical Islamists that the Department of Homeland Security was investigating prior to Obama’s election.

Last Friday he was found dead in his car less than three miles from his home from a single gunshot wound to the head, police said.

The initial reported said Haney “appeared to have suffered a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound” and “a firearm was located next to Haney and his vehicle,” Fox News reported.

A new press release from the Amador County Sheriff’s Office now says that the death was not a suicide and that the investigation is “active and ongoing.”

“On February 22, 2020 the Amador County Sheriff’s Office released initial details regarding Philip Haney being found deceased in our jurisdiction. Mr. Haney was located in a park and ride open area immediately adjacent to State Highway 16 near State Highway 124. Highway 16 is a busy state highway and used as a main travel route to and from Sacramento. The location is less than 3 miles from where he was living.

According to other reports I’ve read, Haney was a committed, active Christian. A widower, he was planning to remarry this year. Not exactly a prime candidate for suicide; I guess that’s why that angle was dropped.

I’m reading his book See Something, Say Nothing, published in 2016. It is an indictment of the Obama Administration as lackeys of global jihad and I’m look forward to reading about the San Bernardino and Orlando Islamist attacks, which could have been prevented, according to Haney.

Seems that a lot of highly placed people might benefit greatly by sending Mr. Haney into the next world.

I’m also planning to read Haney’s essay Green Tide Rising; suffice it to say that it’s not about climate change.

I’m a nobody, so it should be easy to explore this without becoming dead myself. But we’ll see.

By the way, I’m “reading” the book via Audible. It seems that dead-tree versions of it are unavailable — at least on Amazon.

When I first learned how to drive a manual transmission car as a teenager, my dad made me go back and forth on the driveway. I’d put my car into first (grinding the hell out of the clutch), move it down the driveway, then stop, shift into reverse, and go back. Back and forth, hour upon hour until I had mastered the basics. Once I had that down, shifts into other gears were easy. I couldn’t be a good driver until I had mastered the basics.

Mastering the basics is why the world is struggling with the corona-virus. Everyone is talking about the corona-virus. Everyone. It’s tanking the stock market, ravaging cruise lines, and putting people into a panic. We now have governments bleaching streets to try and stop the spread.

Yet, all the things that we (as in the populace) need to actually do are pretty simple:

  • Get your flu shot
  • Wash your hands
  • Cough into your elbow
  • Keep your kitchen clean
  • Cook your food properly

(Yes, I realize the flu shot doesn’t cover the corona-virus. But if you’re sick with regular flu and then get the corona-virus, it has a higher chance of killing you.)

Despite all this, I guarantee I’ll see someone walk out of a restroom without washing their hands, sneeze without covering their mouth, and leave a kitchen messy for more than a day. I also bet that China won’t stop open food markets either.

We don’t have a corona virus outbreak problem. We have a culture problem, in that too many people aren’t doing the basic things right. If you can’t do basic hygiene, the best medicine in the world can’t help you.

This post represents the views of the author and not those of the Department of Defense, Department of the Navy, or any other government agency.

Looking at the Red Sox Roster, while even without Mookie Betts the offense looks imposing, if you look at the Rotation of Sale, Rodriguez, Eovaldi and Velazquez as 1-4 I don’t see innings eaters among them. Particularly since Sale will start the season on the DL

Last season the bullpen was devastated by the lack of starting depth, I see no sign that this is going to be abated this year. Furthermore one or two injuries will turn this team into the 1929 Cubs of my greatest teams Dynasty league. Near the top in runs scored but even higher in runs allowed.

Well it won’t be boring anyways

The Boston Celtics continue to roll their .707 winning percentage is 4th best in the NBA just behind the surprising Toronto Raptors who have not let the loss of Leonard hurt them, the Lakers who lead the west with a .786 percentage and the Bucks who are blowing everyone away at 50-8.

It seems the biggest addition to the development of this Celtics team has been the removal of Kyrie Irving who went to Brooklyn and is now out for the year. It’s worth noting that Brooklyn this season is 4 games under .500 with Irving in the lineup and one game under without him.

It will be a tough slog to get by Milwaukee in the playoffs but Celtics with a talented team minus Kyrie has a much better chance than they did last year with him.

The Boston Bruins seem to remain the poor child of the Boston sports world despite having the most points in the NHL with a five point lead over their nearest rival.

With St. Louis leading the pack in the west there is a real potential for a Stanley Cup rematch which given how last years seven games when should be a source of a lot more excitement around here, particularly when you consider that they were the only Boston team to make it to the finals last year.

There’s still a lot of Hockey to play but I really think they deserve a lot more attention around here, but I suspect until Brady gets signed that attention is going to be lacking.

Speaking of Tom Brady when it comes to the Brady sweepstakes I’m burned out. There seems to be no other topic on sports radio so lets put it simply and repeat the obvious.

Not counting the pats unless a team is a QB away from a superbowl run over the next two year signing Brady for the 30+ Million makes no sense for them and risking one’s reputation going to a lesser team makes no sense for him. I can see Jerry Jones going all in because it’s his nature and I can further see Vrabel deciding he’s like to win one more ring with Brady but other than those two there is no logical place for him to go.

New England remains the best fit both in terms of comfort, fan support and the system. Remember they were only one defensive stop vs Miami away from a 1st round bye last year. This team for all it’s weaknesses is Brady’s best chance at ring #7

The only logical reason for Brady to leave is if he wants to challenge himself and frankly given Brady’s nature that might be a factor, it’s like Batman getting out of the Tank in the Dark Knight to take on the leader of the Mutants. I suspect that decision would prove just as unwise.

On Tuesday I was at Happy Jacks for lunch and they had some kind of skiing on the Olympic Channel on the set where first they go down hill for a bit and then have to climb this other hill to get to the finish line.

The best women’s time ran about 2:28. Then the started with the men, even the fifth place man was finishing better then the best women’s time.

It hit me that all that fellow has to do is declare himself a woman and he’s got gold. Perhaps Elizabeth Warren or someone from the British Labor party can explain how that would be fair to all those women who busted their asses to get their chance for Gold.

Finally My Dynasty online Greatest Teams League will just about done by the time you read this and our division winners have been determined. The 1970 Orioles win the AL East finishing 6-8 games ahead of the 1939 Yankees pending the only unplayed AL series left the O’s 4 games against the 50-100 1934 Detroit Tigers. They will meet the 1954 Indians who needed just one win in their four game series vs the 1973 A’s to clinch and got it courtesy of a 6 hit shutout by Early Wynn. It will be a battle of great starting staffs

In the NL the Brooklyn Dodgers are at 100-50 clinching the NL East against the hard luck 1957 Braves whose 90 wins would have won both the AL or NL west. Brooklyn will finish with four games against their playoff opponents the 1962 San Francisco Giants who have two left vs Pittsburgh before those final four at home vs Brooklyn but with an 11 game lead have plenty of a lead to spare. The only question is will this be a battle of the benches or will the stars come out to shine.

My next all time league will have 24 teams 2 wildcards and will feature all the division winners plus the 24 Senators and the 57 Brewers facing 18 differerent teams including the 2009 Yanks, the 2013 Redsox, the 2016 cubs and last years World Series Champs the 2019 Nationals.

Would be happy to have you jump in and join us.

I’ll Say this for Bernie Sanders, he has accomplished something that I haven’t seen since my childhood. He managed to get the both the American press and the Democrat party to come out strong against Socialism , Communism and even Fidel Castro. At least in public anyways.

It just goes to show you that for the sake of getting or retaining power for the Democrat party, the party and the press will go to any lengths, even denouncing evils they have embraced for decades.

Speaking of Power and elections Stacy McCain in his piece on the Democrats Bernie Sanders problem had one of the greatest lines concerning elections and conventional wisdom that I’ve ever read:

Democrats and their media allies handled Biden gently, with the presumption that he would be the eventual nominee. Biden’s main argument was his “electability,” and he continued to lead national polls up until the actual voting began when Mister Electability began to lose, and lose, and lose again.

emphasis mine

Always remember Conventional Wisdom is always correct, right up until the moment it’s not.

In England A member of the Labor party said on National Television that babies are born without sex:

But when presenter Richard Madely suggested that babies are assigned a biological gender at birth, Butler interjected with a bizarre remark.

“When a child is born, they are identified and observed in a particular sex aren’t they?” Madely asked. Butler responded: “A child is born without sex, a child is formed without sex in the beginning.”

What’s even more amazing is this was in the context of the Labor party leadership fight

two Labour Party candidates hoping to become the next party leader backed a trans group’s call to expel anyone in the party who questions their interpretation of transgender ideology.

The trans advocacy group’s 12-point pledge includes the proviso that members must “support the expulsion from the Labour Party of those who express bigoted, transphobic views.”

Point four of the pledge emphasizes this point, stating that pledgers must also “accept that trans women are women, trans men are men, and non-binary people are non-binary.”

I’m old enough to remember when they called Christians “science deniers”

Was at Happy Jacks on Monday and noticed that CNN was all over the stock market drop over the Coronavirus concerns. It was really odd watching them leave the numbers on screen as they went on.

It’s my opinion that they are cheering for the virus in the hopes that it hurts the economy enough to dampen the President’s talking points on the strong economy.

Remember it’s all about the power.

Finally by the time this goes up the 2nd Episode of DaTechGuy’s Midnight Court, my revived podcast will be up on Youtube.
