Sim [on monitor]: Stand away from the controls, Doctor. Any attempt to interfere with them will precipitate the attack immediately.
12th Doctor: Yes, I see that. Very clever. One question, as long as I’m here. Why haven’t you done it already?
Sim [on monitor]: When the time is right, there will be no delay.
12th Doctor: Oh, you told me something there. You told me something useful. You shouldn’t have done that.
Sim [on monitor]: What did I tell you?
12th Doctor: You told me that the time is currently wrong.

Doctor Who The Return of Dr. Mysterio 2016

It does not matter how small the sins are provided that their cumulative effect is to edge the man away from the Light and out into the Nothing. Murder is no better than cards if cards can do the trick. Indeed the safest road to Hell is the gradual one–the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts.”

CS Lewis The Screwtape Letters

One of the things that has been a source of some confusion until a bit ago was why the left had become completely unhinged over the rise of Donald Trump.

Time tends to pass, cycles come and go, eventually the levers of power would return to the left has people forgot. It seemed very strange that the left went so all in on the Destruction of the Donald Trump administration.

Yeah the attempt to play the election and the fear of getting caught was serious, but as time has passed and I’ve seen what this administration has done I’m thinking that it’s much more than that.

I’m thinking about the dismantling of the regulations that give the deep state bureaucracy it’s power.

I’m thinking of the dismantling of the one sided trade deals that enriched the connected and places like Red China while the pols they owned insisted that jobs weren’t coming back.

I’m thinking of North Korea which suddenly could get the US to pay them off or nuzzle up to China which is how the game has been played for decades.

I’m thinking of Iran and the various radicals no longer getting pallets of cash.

And most of all I’m thinking of the investigations of the foreign funds that have been pouring into higher education media and elsewhere buying schools, professors administrations and non-profits to try to transform our children into people who are taught a false history of america for the sake of our enemies.

These are all things that have gone on for a while and it they continued on for another generation America would have been lost forever.

However all of things that have been checked or exposed under the Trump administration.

I suspect those behind the riots and the exploitation of events like the pandemic would have liked to keep things quietly going on slowly enriching themselves for the benefit of our enemies and their mutual power.

But Donald Trump’s actions have put them on the spot, if he is allowed to continue then it’s disaster, 1st for all our international enemies who have invested billions to create the right conditions for America to fall or be co-opted and 2nd for all those pols, academics, media types and elites who have gotten wealthy of our enemies investment who fear that this gravy train might end.

Thus they have gone all out, from impeachment to the draconian measure to keep the economy closed to the riots.

If it wasn’t for Trump in a generation it would have been all over. I submit and suggest they have been forced to act before they’re ready and that’s why they’ve reached a point where they’re not even bothering to hide it anymore.

This is the difference Donald Trump has made, it means we as Americans have a chance foil what I suspect have been long laid plans, by Trump’s re-election.

If we don’t it will be on us but if we throw away this precious gift that our forefather bleed to leave us, it will be done with both eyes open.

One more thought: As I noted before the last election It’s not just the left that is a worry here

When people think of jobs in a president’s administration they think of secretary of state, Attorney General or chief of staff, but the reality is there are thousands of positions that carry prestige, pay well and guarantee a well paying position in the private sector later on that an administration fills not just at the start of their term but all during it.  (another argument for Glenn Reynolds revolving door surtax)

What happens if those positions go not to a party man, but to a Trump man?  What happens when the head of an agency like the GSA doesn’t owe his position to a party or to a donor but owes it to the Donald™ and it time to make a ruling that affects the party or could affect a chance in a big donor’s fortunes?  Even worse for the GOP what happens when Donald Trump remembers who treated him fairly and with respect and who did not?  There are few men in the this history of the world that can hold a candle to Lyndon Baines Johnson in terms of ego and remembering a slight but I suspect Donald Trump is one of them.

There are plenty of people in the NeverTrump business and others in the establishment deep state GOP that are willing to go along with all the left and our foes are pushing as long as they and their families have well feathered nests. Those are the ones who will sell us in a heartbeat.

DaTechGuy off DaRadio nofrills Livestream Podcast returns at 3 pm EST today. The title is “A Thousand Stalins bloomings” and our topics under that heading are:

  1. Fighting back against the narrative with a chair and a sign.
  2. The Kaepernick problem for NFL players
  3. Now in MA police state restaurants

You can watch the livestream here, I hope you enjoy it.

This post comes from a series of Tweets I put out yesterday. If you prefer a twitter thread you can read it here. I have modified it slightly due to the different interface of a blog

If you watch the MSM you are bombard of images of protests against the police, political leaders scrambling to be the first to hit them, corporations rushing to pay “protection” money and bend the knee to those who are trying to, at best neuter and at worst destroy the police. It’s on the news, it’s on entertainment shows, it’s on sports shows you can’t escape it.

The real problem for those of us who think #bluelivesmatter & #supportthepolice is that there is very little pushback in the non virtual word to the media’s anti police narrative. Hashtags are nice but they don’t make a difference in the real world. For days the thought ran though my mind that “Somebody has to do something!” and I suspect that’s been going through a lot of people’s minds. On Wednesday it suddenly hit me that this was the wrong way of thinking.

The right way of thinking is “I have to do something.” So here is what I did.

I went to Ocean State Job lot before work for a folding chair, some markers and some poster board. Unfortunately poster board was on sale so all that was left was two loud bright green boards both torn at the bottom. I had no time to spare so I bought them.

When I got home from work at Midnight I took out one of the poster boards and on one side wrote “Support Our Local Police” and on the other side wrote “Support Our Local Fitchburg Police” and it put it back in the car

I woke up around 8 AM (I never use an alarm clock ) went to my church and had confession from my priest. Then I drove down to the municipal parking lot. took out my chair, my sign and my rosary and walked to the intersection of Main street and Putnam Street unfolded my chair and sat down with my sign facing the one way traffic going straight on main or turning on Putnam.

I was there about an hour holding with my left hand while praying a Rosary for Police with my right. A few people beeped, some walked by and said they agreed (and commented that the sign was hard to see in the bright sunlight suggesting different colors). There was none of the commotion of the BLM event of a few weeks ago. No fuss, no muss, no shaking down anyone for cash, just one man sitting down in the sun holding a sign in support of the Police.

The high point for me was when a police car drove by, slowed down on Putnam, rolled down his window and said “Thank You”.

I’d like to think that for someone who has spent the last month being told how horrible he is by moves and shakers across the land.

After I finished two twenty decade rosaries and a pair of Divine Mercy Chaplets I picked up my sign and my chair, headed back to my car and went home. No fuss, no muss, it was a pretty unremarkable hour. But it meant something.

Police officers have a thankless job. They are called when there is trouble and are expected to handle it. That means they generally deal with people at their worst because when they show up it’s because

  1. Someone is doing something bad
  2. Someone is angry or about what someone else is doing
  3. Someone is in trouble or scared
  4. Someone either just had or is in the midst of an accident or crisis

In other words a police officer generally appears at a time of maximum tension. Such situations are inherently volatile. Even a routine traffic stop can become life or death without warning.

Yet a police officer is excepted to either diffuse the situation or handle it with the appropriate amount of force needed, with the word “appropriate” to be defined after the fact.

Furthermore in such a situation whether alone or in force they are expected to stand there when people berate or disparage them or even throw objects at them. And of course there is always a camera phone ready to condemn them if they put a foot wrong.

They are always a single remark or action, away from being out of a job or in the dock it can happen in the blink of an eye. And that’s not even mentioning the risk of permanent injury or death.

That is the daily price police pay to allow our society to live outside of gang justice or vigilante justice or tribal justice. I couldn’t do it & I suspect neither could those making political hay & racking in $ attacking them.

However we’ve ceded the public argument to those seeking gain political & financial power off the backs of the men & woman who do a thankless job day in & day out that most of us couldn’t handle so we can live safe.

This can’t stand.

My little chair and sign yesterday was a tiny public response in a small city to the media juggernaut but it was noticed & appreciated by those who needed to see it.

I think if you really want to show you support the police and believe blue lives matter I’d make a sign like the one I did supporting your local police, get a chair & be seen for an hour. Maybe your town is quiet and maybe won’t be a big deal but your local #police will see it and know that no matter what narrative the media / left wants to push, there is someone who knows the job they do and thinks it’s worth it.

I submit & suggest that if you make than sign & have the courage to be seen in public for an hour, it will be make a difference to a local cop worried about where this is going & be more valuable than a hundred tweets with the hashtags #bluelivesmatter or #supportthepolice

Closing thought: I did a series of audio interviews called “Interviews with Immigrants” a while back. On one of them I spoke to a lady named Maria from the Dominican Republic. She told me the story of visiting her sister in Leominster MA and sitting alone by a pond one day when three men she didn’t know came walking by. After they went by it suddenly hit her that for the 1st time in such a situation she wasn’t afraid. That’s when she knew she wanted to live in America.

That’s what those who are trying to destroy the police want to take from us.

It has been maintained by many of the National Anthem kneelers and many on the political left that the keeling during National Anthem has nothing to do with disrespecting our flag, our military, or our country.  This was echoed by Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt when he tweeted this:

if you still think it’s about disrespecting the flag or our military, you clearly haven’t been listening.

Was he right about that?  Let’s look at what Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien had to say about this issue:

The players have a right to protest, a right to be heard and a right to be who they are. They’re not taking a knee because they’re against our flag. They’re taking a knee because they haven’t been treated equally in this country for over 400 years.

To me the entire kneeling during the National Anthem is all about disrespecting our flag and everything associated with it.  Why else would they take this action specifically during the National Anthem?

There is no greater expert on this whole kneeling issue than Colin Kaepernick.  Here is his justification for kneeling:

I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder

I believe that whole quote is dripping with disrespect for our flag, country, and everything else.  The United States does not have a perfect record when it comes to its treatment of people of color, far from it when you examine slavery, segregation, and racism.  However this country has made enormous strides and is no longer a racist nation.  Protesting racism specifically during the National Anthem is very disrespectful to the flag, our military, and those that gave their life for our country.  It is so disrespectful it pisses me off a great deal.    I know I’m far from alone.  Based on social media and the drop in NFL viewer ship a very large segment of the country agrees with me.

Every single individual has a right to protest as they wish as long as long as they do it peacefully.  That most definitely includes kneeling during the National Anthem.  Because freedom of speech and freedom of expression are two way streets it is perfectly fine to criticize those who kneel.  Some individuals do not understand this.

It is the timing of the protesting that pisses people off.  Since the kneelers claim that their kneeling has nothing to do with disrespecting the flag why don’t we make them prove it?

I have just a proposal to end the anthem kneeling situation and make the kneelers prove it has nothing to do with disrespecting the flag.  The NFL, NASCAR, and all other sports associations should specifically set aside time for any athlete to protest racism and racial injustice in any manner they see fit.  The stadium announcers and TV broadcasters should announce the time to protest and the reason behind the protesting.  They should make a big deal about it.  The kneelers will find that they have far more support for their protesting and their cause if the stand during the anthem and protest during that allotted time.
