but several other parishes were not so lucky:

He said the four new parishes will be as follows:
• St. Bernard’s Parish worshipping at St. Camillus de Lellis Church and serving the northern part of the city.
• St. Anthony Parish at St. Anthony Church serving the downtown area.
• St. Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church serving West Fitchburg, including the Cleghorn neighborhood.
• St. Francis Parish at St. Francis Church serving the south and east neighborhoods of the city.

“The patrimony, including assets and liabilities of St. Camillus de Lellis Parish and St. Bernard Parish, which includes St. Bernard Elementary School and St. Bernard Cemetery, will all be part of the new St. Bernard Parish at St. Camillus Church. The patrimony and traditions of Immaculate Conception, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Madonna of the Holy Rosary, as well as their assets and liabilities, will be assumed by the other three newly established parishes,” the bishop wrote.

I was a little surprised at St. Joseph considering many activities had been combined with St. Anthony’s lately however it is a bigger church than Holy Rosary so that might have been an important factor in the decision.

I would be a liar if I didn’t say I was relieved but I feel sorry for the others.

Update: I guess Robert Stacy McCain’s picked the right parish to visit didn’t he?

A long time ago on Instapundit there was a comment about laws and sausages. On behalf of Mike I objected to the statement about sausage, leading to this funny statement from Glenn:

How bad have things gotten? Bad enough that when you compare journalism to sausage-making, people write in to defend sausage-makers!

That was seven years ago. Elsewhere that statement has been made over and over again by people who have never seen sausage made. Today we are going to Solve that Problem

Mike Romano Your Local Butcher for 4 decades.

This is Mike Romano of Romano’s Market and this post and all the videos that follow is all about how his sausage is made. I’d like to thank Mike for letting me film him during his weekly sausage making.

We come through the door and say Hello:

Now that things are sort of back to normal it’s back to the end of the month church breakfasts. We have them the last weekend of each month. You might remember this church from Robert Stacy’s articles at the American Spectator:

That was a lot of people over two masses but that wouldn’t happen without the people who do the heavy lifting at the 8 a.m mass…

They put up with people like me…

And at the 10:30 mass.

One of the great things about something like this is how it is an equalizer. At a coffee in like this there are no rich or poor, or old or young parishioners, there are just all the people in the same church who are part of a single community. In a time when people don’t even know their next door neighbors this is something that we could use more of.

If you don’t have something like this at your parish consider starting one.

Update: One small clarification, there was also food served after Saturday’s 4 p.m. mass including soups and meats.

…also known as the Old Time Luncheonette. In fact the street is also known as Harvard Street so you might have quite a time finding the place.

It was here where the other McCain established the important fact that all breakfast is local. Stacy can vouch for the food as can Dan Collins too.
