My guest this Saturday Barbara Espinosa links to this gem at seeing Red in Arizona who discovers that like the zombie and vampire craze Amnesty won’t stay dead unless you stay on it:

In an almost-missed article tucked away in the Christmas Day Phoenix Republic tabloid-size weekend newspaper insert was this gem. It seems Mayor Philly Gordon has teamed up with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and other big city mayors to lobby the federal government for a blast from the past

Let’s get more details:

Under the umbrella of “Partnership for a New American Economy,” a revised group (names included in this link) is being lead by Bloomberg and includes corporate bigwigs such as CEOs of Hewlett-Packard, Walt Disney Co., and News Corporation, which owns the Wall Street Journal and Fox News. The gimmick this time is obviously to take the onus off of Congress in general and GOP aisle-crossers in specific.

“What we need to do is focus on bringing people together and how to get this comprehensive immigration reform and border security done,” the term-limited Gordon declared.

Ah Bloomberg, the darling of No Labels and the foe of snowplows but more interesting than Bloomberg is a connected dot.

So what do you think Robert Delgado, President and CEO of Hensley Beverage Company, one of the largest Anheuser-Busch beer wholesaler and distributors in the nation, is doing on the Partnership for a New Economy list? That’s Cindy Hensley McCain’s hundreds-of-millions-a-year business. It’s a safe bet Delgado doesn’t operate in a vacuum separate from the McCain’s.

And is it just a coincidence that McCain confidant and political strategist, Wes Gullett is running for Phoenix Mayor, hoping to succeed Gordon? Could the fact that Gullett’s wife served as Gordon’s chief of staff just be happenstance, also?

What? Has McCain suddenly done a volte-face again? Remember the primaries:

During last fall’s election, the anxious McCain began talking like a border hawk, even taping commercials in which the salty-tongued former sailor advocated bringing troops and law enforcement together and completing “the danged fence“ to keep illegals out of America.

That McCain about-face and the Sarah Palin endorsement (that angered some conservatives but not me because it shows loyalty) made a whole lot of difference in the primary election but here is the kicker. This inserted article was in the Christmas edition of the Phoenix paper, however the original article was from June.

Funny how that didn’t managed to get publicity during the time that McCain was actually facing a primary challenge. What would have happened if the McCain connection to this stuff came out big in June? Likely ex-senator McCain would be a headliner in the No-Labels movement.

As I’ve often said, it is what is NOT reported more than what is that really makes media bias.

With the new Tea-Party dominated republican congress stuff like this will be harder but lets not relax.

If people want to know why magazines like Time are no longer trusted it’s because of stuff like this.

Holiday Blizzard: More Signs of Global Warming

Gateway pundit reminds us of the comment of the founder of the Weather Channel:

The founder of the Weather Channel called global warming “the greatest scam in history” and accused the global media of colluding with ‘environmental extremists’ to alarm the public.

The story is labeled under “green” the only thing green about this nonsense is the amount of dough they are trying to extort from taxpayers

As the sun beings to rise on a day when the current (6:50 a.m.) wind chill of 10 degrees is the warmest we see for a bit.

We see that the religion of Global Warming oops sorry Climate Change is still the religion of choice for our friends of the left (much better than that Christian stuff with actual rules on how to treat people) and we have a flock of stories on the subject Lets Start with Don Surber who comments on this post at the NYT blog concerning Global warming being actually worse than what we think:

This tells me two things.

1. The global warming crowd are now hiding behind the euphemism “climate change” because the post is about a rise in temperature.

2. Obviously the global warming side is not winning even with the media dominated by so many True Believers in this crackpot theory.

I have a problem with people who mock balanced coverage. That is supposed to be the goal of journalism. Journalists are supposed to inform not educate.

The other problem is framing this as a debate on how high the temperature will rise. There are those scientists who fear a return to global cooling as we feared would happen in the 1970s. The sudden drop in sunspots in the summer of 2007 could portend a return to pre-1850 temperatures.

Don Don Don this is a religion, it has nothing to do with what is actually going on.

Ed Driscoll at PJM continues pointing to the coverage and makes a prediction:

We reviewed a number of those headlines then and now, in our “Hide the Decline” edition of Silicon Graffiti last year. Tune in here if you missed it.

And speaking of movies, as I mentioned back in March, a lot of Hollywood’s recent global warming doomfests are going to be remembered as updated versions of Reefer Madness to the next generation of movie fans. Today’s global warming fear-mongering is tomorrow’s late-night camp TV.

The irony of course is today as the east coast is hit by a blizzard and Atlanta has wind chills in the 20’s Morning Joe replays an interview with James Cameron talking all Global warming and how we must act.

He quotes this post by Stacy that says in part:

The problem, of course, is that Science keeps running head-on into those stubborn little things called “facts.” Despite all these “Trust Us We’re Scientists” arguments, people still refuse to believe that global warming causes record snowfall:

With the East Coast gripped by bitter cold, Paris paralyzed by snow and a headline in the UK’s Daily Express exclaiming, “Britain is Freezing to Death,” global warming alarmists will again have to fall back on their “climate change” sleight of hand to explain away the cold.

That’s just one of the “Top 10 Bad Developments for Global Warming Alarmists.”

Mind you that post was written on DEC 22nd 5 days before the events of today.

Meanwhile the latest from the left wing Guardian was just too much for Ann Althouse:

When everything is evidence of the thing you want to believe, it might be time to stop pretending you’re all about science.

Unaware? I don’t think “unaware” enters into it considering the e-mails, Don Surber again:

I worked for a while on a dairy farm. My job was to push the brown stuff outside.

Hey Cohen isn’t a weather expert; he’s a dairy farm worker.

Blizzards across the northern hemisphere and a white Christmas in Australia do not disprove global warming. The lies from the researchers, as disclosed in Climategate, already did that.

Forgetting the arrogance of us determining what the proper “climate” is supposed to be we can bottom line
Global warming/Climate Change with two goals:

Goal 1: To advance a collectivist agenda by redistributing wealth from those who produce (ie da West).

Goal 2: To allow the elites to once again act as feudal lords using tax payer funds to support themselves while taking the odd jet to comfortable locations around the globe where they can eat the finest foods, drink the finest liquors and enjoy comfortable companionship while proclaiming to the world their moral superiority while urging you to shut off that extra light to save the world.

The only green thing about Global Warming and Climate change is the cash that will be extorted from you.

When Joe Scarborough quoted this Victor Davis Hanson piece today a panelist (Jeffrey Sachs) pooh poohed him as an “extremist” and nobody on that panel challenged him. He maintained Victor Davis Hanson is an extremist who has gotten us into a bunch of wars.

Yes this writer and grape grower who pens books on military history is the cause of all evil.

When you don’t have the intellectual power to match a Hanson then all you can do is attack.

Update: Ron Radosh notes that the idea of “No Labels” and civility doesn’t seem to apply to conservative thinkers:

And what did Joe “Mr. No Labels” movement Scarborough, who talks every day about the need for civility, camaraderie and dialogue between folks of different opinions, have to say to Jeffrey Sachs after this most vile outburst?

The answer: absolutely nothing, but move on to the next point as if Sachs had never spoken these words. Sachs has accused the estimable historian of causing us to get into more wars than anybody else in America, and of being an extremist, and all Scarborough could come up with is a lame joke about Hanson not being on his Christmas card list.

All labels are bad, but some labels are more equal than others apparently.
