I guess my father died oppressed…

…since he passed away in 1987 and lived his entire life denied, at least according to a French court a basic human right:

The Constitutional Council declared access to the internet to be a basic human right, directly opposing the key points of Mr Sarkozy’s law, passed in April, which created the first internet police agency in the democratic world.

Who knew all these years generations of humans were denied a right so basic?

Lets take this to it’s logical end. If the internet is a basic right then of course electricity and plastic and all the components necessary for them must be a basic right too.

This means we (or perhaps the French) must immediately go into the amazon and Africa and build as many power plants as possible to provide people with this basic right. And of course since all this stuff requires plastic we will need more oil by which plastic is created.

You know it seems to me silly season never really ends.

Lets talk blame

Well it seems to me that we might now ask if we are going to attempt to blame the murder of Mr. Tiller on all those who disagreed with him and protested him, by that standard are we to blame the various anti-war movements for this shooting?

Granted the details are very different but how many years have groups on the left been shouting haditha or Abu Ghraib? Shall we now blame the Maine Cat Woman for this shooting? By her standard we should.

Both those arguments have one thing in common, the attempt to repress protected speech that the other doesn’t like, and both arguments are equally absurd.

…on the other hand Python is different

You know it hits me that the Monty Python crowd have similar or even more radical views than Whoppi but when i still see I still think silly walks:

Or Biggus Dickus:

Or Nudges:

and of course splunge:

I guess that’s the difference between good humor that fades in the memory and timeless humor that makes you smile for the rest of your life.

…but you know the View has done her a disservice in one way. It’s made us forget.

It hit me today for no particular reason that she is a good actress, Sister Act and the Associate were both very funny. She was first rate in Ghost. That silly basketball movie Eddie was pretty good too.

On Star Trek TNG she was first rate. She was an excellent addition to the cast and made the show better.

Her work with Comic Relief was commendable.

All of that seems to be forgotten because all we see now is the political/gossip side. It’s true a lot of what I cited was from her earlier work but that doesn’t change that it was worthwhile.

One of the problems with political discourse is that it can provoke a reaction. Goldberg used to produce a smile when I saw her, now when I see her I think: “Bush Hater”, “Palin Hater”.

It’s a bit of a shame but that’s the price of being out there like that.
