ICE CREAM!

The local coffee shop that opened up during that nasty ice storm last year has decided to use the old ice cream freezer and fountain apparatus.

The just got a delivery of cones and ice cream and intend to offer ice cream and floats and frappes like an old fashioned Ice cream parlor.

The idea that a neighborhood ice cream fountain is opening is an incredible thing to me. 25 years ago there was a local pharmacy a block from this spot (it is now a hair salon) that had a ice cream fountain. It had been in the neighborhood for decades. The return of such a local ice cream place just in time for summer is a wonderful thing.

So if you find yourself on the 5th street bridge some summer day park your car and go into the old time cafe and get yourself a cone (and don’t forget the fish is awsome).

Well it was a bit of a wait

But visiting the unemployment office in person got the extension taken care of with a minimum of fuss.

Always bring a book when you know you will have a long wait, and you will be able to deal with it cheerfully.

…it’s so bad that when I called the extended benefits line at 888-998-8418 to get the ball rolling on extended benefits the automated phone message told me to call back on THURSDAY three days from today!

If I wasn’t waiting for a callback from a doctor over a broken wrist for a son of mine I’d hit the local office at once.

I do have an interview on Wednesday, so with luck all of this might be a moot point.

On the brighter side my son who just graduated high school has just gotten a job. He was laid off back in July of last year from the job he had since he was 14. (He started a week before his 15th birthday). He will be starting later this month. So maybe there is hope after all. He was laid off 4 months ahead of me. I hope that doesn’t mean I have to wait till November to find something.

…As between the Son’s Graduation, The Mother’s car on the blink and my temporary stewardship of a Sable Baseball team (and 4 weeks of games to make up) I will be kinda busy.

I will get some posts up but they will not be regular for a bit.
