All the other members of the Worlds Greatest family are on Facebook. So are most of my younger relatives etc.
Being an old Sicilian I’ve never been interested in social networking sites, I didn’t even get onto AOL until my job required it.
Lately I’ve been seeing the back and forth of the problems of a relative for all the world to see.
I can’t understand why anyone would want to share that kind of stuff online. I don’t think I ever will.
I think I’ll stay the odd man out.
…the job seems fascinating and the devices involved are pretty cool. Ironically it is less than 5 min from my first job out of college.
I could be totally wrong but I don’t think it went well. I was asking all the questions. If they were more interested in me I suspect they would have asked more.
Hopefully I’m wrong because it does appear to be a job that I would enjoy doing and the pay is certainly right, but we’ll see.
First of all lets quote Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor in the Face of Evil:
“The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views…which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.”
This is going to mean a great amount of wealth transferred to the “right” people.
The Second thing is a very Sicilian thing: How stupid do you have to be to put stuff like this in and e-mail in particular or in writing in general? No Sicilian would EVER dream of anything like that. These guys may be “scientists” but they must not have a brain between them.
Remember what I’ve said before, nothing that you wouldn’t show to someone publicly should ever be in an e-mail. You have been warned!
Today I ran into the wife of a fellow I haven’t seen for decades, like me he is a computer guy and is currently employed as same.
As we talked I found we have a lot in common, same amount of kids, both with a son newly in college all pretty much the same.
I forget how but the conversation came up but somehow the conversation came to wireless security and I almost fell out of my chair.
He keeps a wide open wireless network with no security at all
. He operates under the theory that if someone wants to break in they will.
This man is a computer professional, he has been doing this work for over two decades. He also does plenty of financial stuff online.
If I wasn’t so bald already I’d be tearing out my hair. He should know better, how can he NOT know better and even worse as a computer expert how many other people has he said this too.
Sometime I wonder why I even bother, so let me say it one more time.
USE PROPER WIRELESS SECURITY WHEN SETTING UP A HOME NETWORK!
If you don’t then the resulting problems you will have will be your own.
