I’ve been having a difficult time coming up with a topics for my weekly articles.  After brooding about it I decided my problem is that this endless Coronavirus crisis has gotten me feeling quite down.  I’m suffering from the blues.  I know my suffering is trivial compared to those who have lost loved ones to the virus or compared to those who have been infected with the virus.  Compared to most I’ve got it quite good.  I’m just so worried about everything that’s going on and I’m heartsick about all of the suffering everyone else is dealing with.

Like most I’m wishing and praying that this nightmare will soon end.  Not knowing when the pandemic will end and how severe it will get before it’s all over are the two things weighing most heavily on me.  Unfortunately no one has any answers to these questions. All of the original models and so many of the experts have been proved so wrong.  It is wrong to blame anyone but the Chinese and the World Health Organization for this.

It is heartbreaking to know that so many have lost their livelihood because so many businesses have been forced to shut down.  I’m worried that when this is finally over far too many businesses will never reopen their doors,

Going out to restaurants and bars with groups of friends and relatives was a pastime I engaged in quite often.   It is something I miss a lot.  Getting take out is not the same at all.  Who knows when anyone will be able to just sit and enjoy themselves in one of those fine establishments again.

Not being able to go where I please is something that bothers me a great deal.  I despise being told what I can and can’t do by the government at any level.  There is something completely un-American about that.  The American people will only put up with that for so long.  The demonstrations have already begun and will soon spread.  Hopefully those protesting take proper precautions against rapidly spreading the virus.  Unreasonable measures taken by the different government levels will only make the protests worse,

I pray that this nightmare will soon end with a minimal amount of future death and suffering.  That will be the best medicine for my blues and blues of everyone else,

Sam Cogley: Describe a phase one search.

Captain Kirk: It’s a painstaking, thorough attempt in and around the ship to find a man who’s presumably injured and unable to respond.

Sam Cogley It presupposes, does it not, that a man wishes to be found?

Captain Kirk: I beg your pardon?

Sam Cogley: If you start a search for a man, you assume, don’t you, that he wants to be found? He’s not hiding?

Captain Kirk: Yes.

The reaction to the decision by the Governor of Georgia to allow (stress allow not compel) business to open on the 24th rather than waiting an extra week has caused an extreme reaction all over the democrat/left/media.

The supposed reason is they are afraid of deaths from the Corona/Wuhan/CCP virus (although they aren’t apparently afraid of deaths from surgeries that don’t happen, or other side effects of an economy crashing and burning) but I submit and suggest this is not the case, because people are making an assumption that I don’t think is true.

The assumption people are making is that the people outraged by this move have the same goal as the Governor, the ability to safely re-open the economy without dying by the virus. I think this is not the case.

I don’t think they are afraid of people dying from the Corona/Wuhan/CCP virus, I think they’re afraid they won’t!

What happens if some business open and things work out? What happens if the supply chains are able to supply, people are allowed to shop, eat or function as normal and the economy roars?

Then Americans go back to work, then unemployment drops, then wealth returns to the middle class without government aid. While this would be a great help to the vast majority of the American people, who does it hurt?

The Democrats and the left, because if all these things come back then they are in the same spot that they were in two months ago, facing a president with a booming economy, foreign policy success and the lowest black and Hispanic unemployment in history in an election year:

“But DaTechGuy”, you ask, “didn’t President Trump himself say that he thought this was too early, why don’t you think he is cheering for dead bodies?”

Well it’s true that the President has suggested this move is too soon, but unlike the left he suffers no penalty if the move works, his warning actually puts him in a no-lose situation. If it fails he suggested it was a tad soon and can note this if it works not only does he get all the benefits of Georgia doing well but he can also get credit for giving the state the flexibility to give things a shot.

The left however only wins if Georgia fails, that’s what I think is going on, as I said earlier this month:

What we write, broadcast and report about Communist China, Russia, Iran and the Corona Virus,we do because we believe it helps to save the Union from Donald Trump; and what we forbear, we forbear because we do not believe it would help to save the Union from Donald Trump.

Trump threw them for a loop by not endorsing this move but I submit and suggest that this is not about saving citizens lives for the left, it is about saving the lives of Democrat campaigns.

After all do you really think people who are willing to knock off babies up to the moment of birth are concerned if older folks live or die?

SHREVEPORT – As this lockdown continues, I have seen more and more people comment on the disruption of their sleep patterns, and I would be lying if I didn’t admit to experiencing this myself.

In a normal world, I am in bed by 10 and up by 5:15. I am a teacher and have to be at work at 7:05 (although I always get there about 6:40.) On the weekend I might sleep until 7 or 7:30. In this new Covid-world, I have been waking up at all hours of the night and sleeping later in the morning. I mean, wide awake at 3:00 kind of awake. And what difference does it make? I don’t have to wake up at 5:15, I’ll tell myself.

It is odd to me because I don’t feel especially stressed or worried about anything; I haven’t lost my job or my pay. I do not suffer food insecurity. I’m not any more worried about bills than I ever am. Nobody in my immediate family is ill. And, overall, I’m basically perfectly content staying at home, so what’s the problem?

Many people are reporting disruptions in sleep right now and there is an explanation for this:

Stress is both the short and the long answer. Whether it’s insomnia, daytime sleepiness, struggling to stay awake in the evenings or waking earlier than usual (or, if you’re really lucky, a combination), sleep-disturbance is a well-documented manifestation of stress. And while stress is usually a precursor to the fight-or-flight response we’re in the slightly odd situation where having to reckon this stress is wreaking havoc on our bodies while we’re safe in lockdown in our homes. We are in a high-alert state; our brains busily preparing our bodies for dealing with disaster, even if it doesn’t fall into our direct path.

In short, our stress hormones are on overload. Compounding the problem, we are not releasing stress in some of our more typical ways like going to the gym or socializing with friends, so everything stays all bottled up. We eventually run out of closets to clean out, fences to paint, garages to clean out.

Experts have many recommendations for easing this sleep anxiety that many of us seem to be facing, such as limiting screen time before bed, avoiding too much news, avoiding sugar, and eliminating that afternoon nap.

Face it, our world is different now and may never be the same. Certainly many of the social distancing policies we now practice will remain part of our daily lives for some time to come. Maybe this is part of our anxiety.

As states now begin to figure out ways to reopen and get back to a new normal, perhaps we can all get a good sleep.

Mayor DeBlasio has asked New Yorkers to take photos of people who are violating social distancing to report them. My question is what happens if the folks in question happen to be Illegal Aliens? Are they to be reported for social distancing or will they be exempt?

I think that’s an excellent question that deserves an answer.

I’m told they’re talking about a May 15 re-opening in Massachusetts. Can’t wait to go to the bank wearing a mask and see if I’m told: “I’m sorry we have a no hat policy, can you take it off please?”

The really amazing thing about what we’ve seen from the left can be summed up from a single line from this piece about Tara Reade at Mother Jones (via Hotair):

The Mother Jones story states “Eight national organizations that advocate for sexual violence survivors did not respond to a request for a comment or interview.” These national organizations who exist solely to deal with issues like this are sitting in the background, choosing not to say anything which might damage the candidate. In other words, they are behaving just like Joe Biden himself.

I find it hilarious that people like Bernie Sanders have been asked about this but Joe Biden has not.

During the Quarantine I watched my son play the game Red Dead Redemption 2 for a while, which isn’t so much a game as it is a choose your own adventure move but there is one thing that caught my eye.

There are various mundane chores that you can do from feeding and bushing horses to hauling sacks and working around the camp that if done give you “honor” points and “experience”.

I wonder how many people who you have to get on their cases to take out the trash or clean their rooms, rake leaves, or sweep a floor don’t mind virtually doing the type of mundane tasks necessary for life?
