…By the very fact that Major Liberal outlets such as This week are actually having Michelle on to discuss her book.

I don’t recall the View, Today or ABC News being interested in having her on before but I think they might see where the Obama winds are blowing and are determined to defend their withering audiance share.

Maybe congressmen can hide from tea party people but the networks want their eyeballs.

The Sock Puppet has a point…

…on principle concerning the Olberman/Factor feud:

It makes no difference what one thinks of O’Reilly’s attacks on the corporate activities of GE or Olbermann’s criticisms of O’Reilly and Fox News. Whatever one’s views on that are — and I watch neither show very often — those are perfectly legitimate subjects for news reporting and commentary, and the corporate decree to stop commenting on those topics is nothing less than corporate censorship.

His opinion of Olbermann’s veracity vs O’Reilly’s is nonsense of course but he is very right that a corporate truce smells big time. If it had been a question of viewers being sick of it that would be one thing but if a deal can be done on one thing then it can be done on others.

It is interesting to note that Olbermann lied through his teeth concerning it as well:

Olbermann claimed at the end of his broadcast that he would cease referring to O’Reilly in the future because ignoring him (and “quarantining” Fox) would supposedly help get O’Reilly off the air (“So as of this show‘s end, I will retire the name, the photograph, and the caricature”).

Apparently Olbermann didn’t figure on disclose or doesn’t care about lying.

Now this is a minor issue and it was reported on (eventually) but consider how many major issues this might happen on? That is the thing we should worry about.

Oh and I should point out you should read the whole thing since his second point concerning Richard Wolfe is pretty good too. The sock puppet is on a roll today.

Amazon Review: Atlantic Wave 1316 CD Tower

My review of Atlantic’s Wave 1316 CD tower (holds 112 cd’s) is available at Amazon.com here.

It took me a while to break down and buy one. I had a vertical CD tower with a wood base that I picked up at a 2nd hand store that I absolutely loved, but couldn’t find one that matched it. I finally settled on the 1316 as the closest match out there at a good price.

If you collect the Big Finish Doctor who line this is EXACTLY the rack for you. Almost certainly you will be importing them to a PC or Ipod so they won’t be taken down much but as a fan you won’t want to part with them. Two of these will hold just about all the Doctor Who lines, a third will hold all the new releases.

In my review of Culture of Corruption I argue that there are two chapters that don’t support Michelle Malkin’s thesis of the book:

The chapter on the Clintons:

The Chapter on Chris Dodd:

Today Michelle Malkin answers me on Dodd in her column:

But Dodd’s cratering numbers and mounting ethics scandal aren’t just about Dodd. Damaged birds of a feather flock together. Even before these latest disclosures, Dodd’s approval ratings had dropped to their lowest levels ever. Yet, President Obama – agent of the “new politics,” erstwhile Breath of Fresh Air, guarantor of all that is good and clean in Washington — declared his support for Dodd’s 2010 re-election campaign bid.

“I can’t say it any clearer: I will be helping Chris Dodd because he deserves the help,” President Obama announced in April. “He just has an extraordinary record of accomplishment, and I think the people of Connecticut will come to recognize that.”

The problem with this argument is that I can’t think of any president that has rejected a member of his party up for re-election in the senate due to ethics issues, particularly one with power and seniority of Dodd. The president’s endorsement has everything to do with his legislative agenda and nothing to do with Dodd’s corruption.

The second point comes from a S.D. Hoyt who left this comment at my Amazon review:

In case you did not know, Hillary Clinton was born in Chicago and did her senior thesis on Saul Alinsky, the original Chicago community organizer. Access to that thesis was limited when Bill Clinton became President. So there is some connection between the Clintons and the Chicago clan. Not nearly as much as the Obama’s thorough indoctrination.

It is a good point, I reply as follows:

That is true but the Clintons where not included in the administration due to their Chicago connections or their knowledge on how to play ball. The Clinton concessions were necessary to unite the party and avoid the risk embarrassment on the convention floor before the election and to make political peace afterwards. This would have been the case even if the Clintons were as clean as Paul Tsongas.

One might make the argument that if the Clintons were clean they would not have been in that position but that’s not the books thesis.

When you get past the 1 star reviews from non readers the discussion is actually quite interesting.
