My Review of Big Finish’s Companion Chronicles 3.1 The Drowned World featuring veteran actress Jean Marsh as Sara Kingdom companion of the 1st Doctor is available at Amazon.com here.

I strongly suggest that before you consider buying this episode you go to the Mike’s comics web site and pick up the episode Home Truths which comes before it. Remember they offer free shipping for any cd order over $60.

My review of the Big Finish adventure Doctor Who adventure number #70 Unregenerate featuring Sylvester McCoy as the 7th doctor and Bonnie Langford as Melaine Bush is available at Amazon.com here.

This is an excellent example of a so so story being made pretty good by a cast that knows what they are doing.

Another odd thing about the 7th Doctor Mel adventures are the timelines, in most of the Big Finish adventures the come in sequence in the sense that the big finish adventures with the same companion follow each other sequentially. For whatever reason the Mel adventures with the 7th doctor don’t follow that rule (check out Wikipedia for the sequencing.)

I have absolutely no explanation for that and it’s not all that important but it is interesting.

My review of the Sherlock Holmes: The Scarlet Claw, the 8th in the series of 14 movies featuring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce in the title roles is at Amazon.com here.

The entire series is great and worth review, I actually have no idea why I started with this one.

Because the DVD’s are kinda pricey you might want to get them via NetFlix as I have, but no matter how you slice it they are first rate, particularly this once which seems more dramatic than many others in the series. There are particular scenes that I considered pretty serious for 1944.

On a totally unrelated matter Big Finish is now doing a Sherlock Holmes audio series. The first one: Sherlock Holmes and the last act has just been released.

I have no plans of getting them myself but if you are a Holmes fan you might enjoy them.

My Review of the Companion Chronicles 3.11 Mahogany Murderers featuring the Characters Henry Gordan Jago and Professor Lightfoot from the Classic Dr. Who Episode The Talons of Weng-Chiang is available at Amazon.com here.

It is the single best Companion Chronicles episode available thus far, it is also also unique in two other ways:

To this point it is the only Companion chronicles adventure with three credited actors. Director Lisa (otherwise known as Dr. Bernice Summerfield) plays the waitress.

It is the only Companion Chronicles that doesn’t feature the Doctor.

If you have never seen Talons of Weng-Chiang you will enjoy the episode but not as much, if at all possible watch the episode directly before listening to this episode and you will really have a spectacular time.

It goes without saying that this one should be bought.
