Although he does indulge in his normal Palin derangement/Sullivan’s syndrome behavior he still deserves credit for it..
I can’t help but tweak him however over one statement that is so funny that you had better not be drinking when you read it. So put down whatever you are drinking before you click the “read the rest of the entry” link…
…thus even Charles Johnson’s (peace be upon him) sudden reverse of direction was not enough for them to give him the type of undying love that those who leave the right normally get.
In fact when you have Robert Stacy McCain & Patterico on the same side concerning this you know it must be bad news for Johnson.
Well he still gets 250x the traffic I get and I’m actually pleased to read he has a fiancée since as I’ve said the right woman makes all the difference in one’s life.
So Johnson is making a living off his site; it is coded well and he’s welcome to it. I’ve covered the Johnson/McCain fight closely which resulted in my own banning, and Peg’s and ironically led to my friendship with Stacy resulting in the rather exciting events of the last week. For all that the bottom line is the same as before: Johnson’s attacks on individuals were dishonorable.
I do have to disagree with Patterico on his third Update. If Johnson hadn’t been hitting them the Times in the past they would have fawned all over him. To suggest that the NYT would normally accurately cover the story requires a willing suspension of disbelief. The irony is that the Times showed its bias this time by simply telling the truth.

…to paraphrase my favorite president Grover Cleveland. Camp of the Saints rightly points out that if we treat Sarah the way the media treated President Obama during the last election, we will not only be wrong but we will be doing ourselves and her no favors:
Friendly advice should be taken as such. And conservatives should never fall for a cult of personality. Sarah Palin is an admirable lady. She is not a savior. ‘Nuff said.
Mindless idolatry is no way to pick a candidate. Remember the line from the movie The Buccaneer

Lafitte: If your offer is good it will stand up under fire.
Do we have so little faith in Palin’s ability to stand up under fire or to recover from a mistake? If our candidate and our positions are good, then they can stand criticism.. If not then not only will we lose, we will deserve to. For Reference see Coakley, Martha.
….and his review in the New York Times shows it. And in four sentences he boils down the essence of both Sarah Palin and the book.
For many politicians, family life is sandwiched in between long hours in public service. Palin wants us to know that for her it is the reverse. Political success is an accident that says nothing about you. Success as a wife, mother and citizen says everything.
That is the bottom line, oh and notice the amusing condensation he deals with in simply obtaining the book and the talking down he gets from the shocked readers of the times totally unaccustomed to even a review of a conservative book let alone a positive one..
