Via Ann Althouse let us note a seminal moment in the Obama administration:

the Daily show discovers that Obama is like Bush.

You will note that the sparks really started to fly at Pelosi once John Stewart went after her. It’s one thing for Rush or Hanity or even Bill O’Reilly to go after her. The left couldn’t care less. To their true believers they are not legatmate sources, to those same people however Jon Stewart is.

Jon Stewart has now directly ridiculed president Obama by name. He has done it on a primary news source for the far left and for many young people who pay no attention, and not only that he has done it in a way that a person who has no idea about politics can understand.

People may not realize how big this is. Will this mean that other comics will now be willing to hit him? Will this give the imprimatur to other to speak up? Only time will tell, but the first time is always easiest.

At the American Papist a poll went up concerning the best solution to the Notre Dame situation. I left the following comment:

The actual best solution would be for the Whitehouse to find a reason why they can’t attend and pull ND’s fat out of the fire.

Imagine my surprise to see Kathleen Parker echo me:

Obama might consider following Glendon’s lead. Although he supports choice, the president also recognizes the moral complexity of those decisions. Out of respect for pro-life Catholics and their beloved institution, he should politely bow out.

This of course assumes a respect for something beyond his own self importance. Parker seems to be very taken by Glendon’s act:

Here on planet “What About Me,” principled people are so rare as to be oddities. Thus, it was a head-swiveling moment Monday when Mary Ann Glendon, the former U.S. ambassador to the Vatican, quietly declined Notre Dame’s Laetare Medal.

Kathleen Parker hasn’t been very right lately, but she recognizes an act of principle when she sees one.

Politically the president must be thanking his lucky stars for Sen Specter, the 100 days to distract public attention from Mary Ann Glendon. There is nothing like the shock of reality (planes over NY) to make people see things for what they are, and reality is the biggest danger to the political future of the current administration.

OMG Even Olberman gets it!

How do you know a mistake is a REAL mistake. When Keith Olberman calls for the resignation of a member of the Obama administration:

You have to wait for the 1:20 minute mark to see it but it comes.

As national review says:

Okay, so Olbermann’s a maniac, but even broken clocks can be right twice a day.

Yes I don’t think I’ll be writing that Olberman gets it very often.

Every time I think the Arthur/Carter Watch isn’t worth having something comes to throw me a curve.

A whole lot of people look at the president and see Jimmy Carter. Looking at his Latin America trip you just want to give him 10 Carter points and be done with it. Combining that with the release of the so called “torture” memos you would think there would be no contest.

But then he turns around and not only decides not to make any legal moves against the people who were protecting us. (To the outrage of the left) but he decides to give the cold shoulder to the Durbin II “racism” conference. And don’t think that Obama not going didn’t give cover for Australia, Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, and even New Zealand to give it a miss.

Ironically his massaging of the egos of Morons like Castro and Chavez actually adds to the street cred to say this thing is wrong. Granted I think president Bush would have avoided this travasty without having to play other games but that’s not the point. It’s a solid action and he deserves credit for it.

So once again we have an Arthur /Carter Wash. I wonder if we will see a pattern of rethoric to satisfy the left while doing actions that cover himself and his administration in case of trouble.

Maybe it should be the Arthur/Carter/LBJ watch? After all the saying went Lyndon goes the way the wind blows.

Well the score remains Carter 10 Arthur 5. However I don’t know what to actually think anymore.
