I’ve pointed to Rich’s Comic blog over and over for the first rate comics there, particularly his 10 doctors. If you want to check it out but didn’t care to go through the over 200 pages. Here is a quick alternative:

Rich Morris holds the copyright on all of this stuff and deserves full marks for it so PLEASE go to his blog and check it out after you watch this. He deserves the hits and a visit to his tip jar.

James Hudnall writes a tribute to the Comic Books series The Watchmen at Big Hollywood:

“Watchmen” opens Friday and we’ll see how well it performs in the theaters, but the graphic novel has been a best seller for DC Comics since its inception in 1985. And not without surprise. It’s been voted the best graphic novel of all time by many people. It even showed up in Time Magazine as one of the best literary novels of the 20th century. The only comic to make that list. Personally, I don’t care much for lists or other popularity contests. They seem too high school to me. A lot of stuff on “best ever” lists tends to be crap. It’s all someone’s opinion, after all. But “Watchmen” is definitely a work of art. One that will stand the test of time and already has.

Count me in the minority here. I’ve been reading comics for 34 years. I didn’t care for the Watchmen when it came out and I don’t care for it now.

I have absolutely no interest in the movie. As for Alan Moore’s work I’d check out his Swamp Thing Issues instead.

Give me Stan Sakai , Steve Englehart and Gardner Fox or Denny O’Neil anyday.

And the Greatest Comic Series ever Written? Lone Wolf and Cub hands down!

…don’t forget that the Total confusion convention begins tomorrow and runs for 4 days at the Holiday Inn in Mansfield Massachusetts. It’s a little late for registration but there is no reason why you can’t show up at the door and hope for the best.

If you want something with a little more notice consider ConBust 2009 held at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. It is a combination sci-fi/fantasy/anime and gaming convention that will be held March 27th through 29th. Mike’s comics an online dealer that carries the entire line of Doctor Who Audios that I review a lot on this blog will be a dealer there and that reason alone is good enough for me to visit.

It’s worth noting that you might qualify for free housing if you are a college student 18 years old or older you might be able to get housing for the event details here.

That’s not funny!

Comedy is hard, particular when your man is in power:

The old ways are dying hard. Colbert went into the vaults, all the way back to 2000, for a Bush/Gore joke. Jon Stewart did a Bush joke, as well. Ferguson set a record for Day 15; going way last century with a Bill Clinton joke (Clinton will lead the investigation into the accidental showing of porn during the Super Bowl). Stewart and Leno did Joe the Plumber jokes, Letterman did a couple Dick Cheney jokes and a Sarah Palin joke.

You can hear the cricket’s chirp about the president but his cabinet has got a few hits:

The tax situation has been a godsend to Late Night writers. Now they can make fun of the administration without having to actually go after Him. Six out of seven hosts (Kimmel abstaining) found humor in the tax problems of Obama appointments. The funniest was Conan, who suggested the stimulus package could be cut by $50 billion if Obama’s cabinet just paid their taxes.

And of course there is Biden the gift that keeps on giving.

I tend to agree between the domestic policy stimulus bill the rest of the world finding us an easy mark there isn’t very much funny going on.

Hey this is what we voted for we have it coming.
