because they will ignore Fox when they point it out and they and other networks will not report it.

They are marketing to a niche. That niche will make excuses for stuff like this. It will not cost them anything.

I can’t help but remember a bit from Bernie Goldberg’s book Bias where they the video of a story concerning looting after a hurricane because all the people being arrested were black. The reporter was beside himself pointing out that all the police were black too as the nation being covered was predominantly black.

Well if your primary worry is not to be #1 you can make a good living off a niche market.. They will do just fine….

…unfortunately.

Update: Added links of others who commented on it.

Update 2: I still think they will get away with it. Their customer base doesn’t care.

The reason why I don’t liveblog Morning Joe anymore is stuff like this.

Republican Joe Scarborough purported to have his finger on the pulse of Republicans across the country today when he declared that they were uniformly rejecting Sarah Palin and her “hard, hard, hard right” conservative views.

Conservatives for Palin elaborates:

The Democratic controlled Senate Finance Committee didn’t seem to think the “death panels” were so ridiculous when they removed the provision from the Senate version of the health care bill.

Is there an agenda here?

Joe Scarborough ignored Governor Palin’s meticulously cited statements and thoughtful arguments, and went directly to the same false stereotypes that are frequently repeated on liberal blogs…

Scarborough’s agenda became clear when he said, “She ain’t going to burn up Iowa anymore”. He would like to present himself and his political philosophy as the correct alternative to “extreme right wingers” like Sarah Palin.

Well lets see if his book is the alternate opinion based on his Amazon Sales rank today

Amazon.com Sales Rank: #28,738 in Books

That’s after two months, how about looking at that inciter of people Mark Levin he likes Palin?

Amazon.com Sales Rank: #31 in Books

That’s after 5 months, how about Dick Morris who I’m not a big fan of myself:

Amazon.com Sales Rank: #47 in Books

Dick’s book came out two weeks after Joe, How about Michelle?

Amazon.com Sales Rank: #14 in Books

Her book is a month old, and finally how about Glenn Beck, he must be tanking with all those boycotts right?

Amazon.com Sales Rank: #9 in Books

That one came out within 3 days of your book didn’t it Joe?

Well it’s not as if she can stay on offense against this administration since the people don’t support her, oh wait:

For years, states rich with an abundance of oil and natural gas have been begging Washington, DC politicians for the right to develop their own natural resources on federal lands and off shore. Such development would mean good paying jobs here in the United States (with health benefits) and the resulting royalties and taxes would provide money for federal coffers that would potentially off-set the need for higher income taxes, reduce the federal debt and deficits, or even help fund a trillion dollar health care plan if one were so inclined to support such a plan.

So why is it that during these tough times, when we have great needs at home, the Obama White House is prepared to send more than two billion of your hard-earned tax dollars to Brazil so that the nation’s state-owned oil company, Petrobras, can drill off shore and create jobs developing its own resources? That’s all Americans want; but such rational energy development has been continually thwarted by rabid environmentalists, faceless bureaucrats and a seemingly endless parade of lawsuits aimed at shutting down new energy projects.

I wonder if this is going to get coverage Joe? Likely a lot more than your book.

Update: Joe I hate to tell you this, you have the symptoms of Sullivan’s Syndrome. Seek help now

Update 2: I’ve added some links to coverage of Palin’s latest facebook and will continue to do so as the day goes on.

Update: 3 Marx doesn’t compete too well either

James Carvelle can’t count

Tip O’Neil when challenged on his assessment of a bill had a stock answer that he often used “I’ve always known how to count”. Apparently James Carville didn’t pick up that skill:

On CNN’s “State of the Union,” Democratic strategist James Carville became the first leading Democrat to suggest publicly that there might be political advantage in letting Republicans “kill” health care.

“Put a bill out there, make them filibuster it, make them be what they are, the party of no,” Carville said. “Let them kill it. Let them kill it with the interest group money, then run against them. That’s what we ought to do.”

Unless he knows about a special election that the rest of us don’t there are still only 40 Republican votes in the senate and the house has a very large democratic majority. Republicans can’t kill any bill the democrats are willing to pass.

What Mr. Carville wants is cover for his members and the ability to share the blame. If his people really believed this was the right thing to do they would do it. They want cover for this lemon, the Republicans won’t give it so he is trying to make lemonade.

I’m surprised the National Review didn’t notice it.

Update:
The NYT can’t count either but Patterico can

One of the things I absolutely love about baseball is the lack of a clock. Unless you have rain or extra innings you can’t win without getting 27 outs.

That means even if you have a 10-0 lead after one you have to get those 27 outs. Even more important is the fact that if one team is able to get 10 runs in an inning there is absolutely no reason why another team can’t before the game ends.

In football the closest match is halftime. If a team is losing 34-3 at the half there is absolutely no reason why the other team can’t reverse that score in the 2nd half.

We are still in the first quarter in terms of the Obama administration. Our current success not withstanding there is absolutely no reason why he can’t turn things around and even manage to get this lemon of a bill passed.

President Obama still has all the intrinsic advantages of the presidency, liberal bloggers who support a liberal agenda and a media that will jump through hoops to protect him and attack his foes.

If anyone thinks we can let up or underestimates Obama, or believes the ballgame is over then they are not only kidding themselves but don’t belong in the business.

And you know what; I wouldn’t expect principled liberals to give up on what they believe either. Their innings aren’t over.

Update: Great minds think alike

Update 2: Anyone who quotes Yogi Berra in defense of my opinion deserves his own update.
