42 years later, California’s Proposition 13 continues to inspire attempt after attempt to kill it. This Election Day – er, Election Season – is no different. Passed in 1978 – back when the aerospace and oil industries were still vibrant enough to pepper the state with conservatives – the law allows property tax rates to be increased only upon a sale of the property and limits any increase to a 2% rate of inflation. Nothing a politician hates more than limits on taxation. Since ’78, progressives have thrown more propositions, lawsuits, and legislation at the hated law, and despite California’s voters electing bluer and bluer representatives, they still somehow continue to protect lower property taxes. There’s something about voting on actual legislation, with its provisions in black-and-white, rather than voting for personalities, that sobers the voters’ minds. Propositions cannot hide so easily behind a flashy smile or perfectly-creased pants.

It’s easy to imagine these tax-loving cretins in their Sacramento offices, watching with envy as property values throughout the state sprout ever higher. The Federal Housing Price Index shows that the House Price Index for California has risen almost 700% since 1979. This drives the politicians crazy, that in the wake of these gains, their hands remain cuffed, unable to pick the pockets of its citizens. Progressive dreams of income redistribution, even in the navy-blue Golden State, remain at least somewhat limited.

The latest attempt to undo Prop 13 is Prop 15. Prop 15 promises to raise property taxes by setting the tax rate at the market rate. But, knowing California voters’ reluctance to mess with Prop 13, the authors of 15 have limited its effects to only commercial properties. They presumably suspect the progressive voters here may not mind raising taxes on capitalist endeavors, so long as their own homes are left out of it. One can only marvel that California may pass yet another anti-business law, even as business flee the already-stratospheric taxes and cost-of-living.

A survey of California likely voters released ten days ago reveals 49% favor Prop 15, while 45% oppose it.

Don’t be surprised to see more moving trucks headed for parts east come 2021. And as the businesses flee, the Sacramento tax coffers will fall, and the politicians will look for where else they can raise tax rates. Why do I suspect those eyes will fall upon residential properties?

One effect of California’s feeble educational system: the local politicians educated in it never learn. Tuesday will tell if the voters have.

Halloween is only a couple of days away.  In honor of that macabre holiday I decided to write the scariest article I could possibly imagine.

With just under a week to go the presidential election appears to still be to close to call. although things are now breaking in President Trump’s direction.  It is abundantly clear to me that the negative consequences of Joe Biden winning the presidency would be truly horrific for everyone living in the United States. It would be more horrific than anything H. P. Lovecraft, Stephen King, George Orwell, or Dean Koontz ever wrote.

Very shortly after a Biden/Harris victory the economy of this great nation would collapse thanks to a return to an implementation of extremely high tax rates on those that produce jobs and wealth.  Joe Biden may claim to be a moderate but his record and his rhetoric paint a vastly different picture.

The economy would also collapse because Joe Biden would implement the Green New Deal to combat the mythical beast known as climate change.  The extremely onerous  regulations, which would drown all aspects of the US economy in red tape, would cause economic dislocation worse than the Great Depression.  The US would no longer be energy independent, we would become a third world nation, despite being extremely rich in oil and natural gas.

Freedom of Speech would be a thing of the past because Joe Biden and kamala are Leftists, and like all Leftists they abhor free speech.  Hardcore political correctness would dominate all aspects of daily lives.  Federal mandates backed up by a stacked Supreme Court would be the instruments of their tyranny.

If your church’s teachings violate liberal orthodoxy then the federal government would meddle in that church and possibly close it down.

The Second Amendment would be destroyed by federal regulations and a stacked liberal Supreme Court.

The violence plaguing liberal cities and blue states would spread throughout the United States because the Federal Government would stop lending support in the form of the FBI and other federal agencies.  Joe Biden and his handlers would make it more difficult for the National Guard to deal with the unrest.

Progressive indoctrination would dominate all levels of our public schools and spread into private schools thanks to aggressive federal mandates.  Future generations would be dominated by brain dead liberal zombies that are still alive.

The Supreme Court would be stacked with the most liberal justices thanks to Biden or Harris.  That damage would take decades to undo.

Elections would be nearly impossible for Republicans to win because the Biden/Harris administration will incorporate all the liberal election stealing schemes into a federal  election policy that will overrule all sate election laws.

The United States would become just like California and then quickly just like Venezuela if Joe Biden wins. All of the damage done by the Biden/Harris administration would be done in such a way to make it far more difficult for Republicans to win future elections. Liberals despise fair elections because they can’t win them.

SHREVEPORT – Louisiana is a land of many quirky laws, and leave it to our state legislators to pull out one of those to force an end to Governor John Bel Edwards public health emergency executive orders.

House Republicans have been chafing over the mask mandate for months, along with many of the other restrictions put in place by Governor Edwards on crowd sizes and which businesses can open and under what capacity.

At the end of the special legislative session last week, House GOP lawmakers used a petition against these orders to have them nullified.

From KATC news:

A statement from the house reads, “At no time since the start of the pandemic has the governor taken meaningful steps to address legislative concerns in any substantive way,” the release states. “The Legislature will make no apologies for simply standing up for the people we collectively represent. The House has exhausted every available legislative remedy and has been left with no other option but to exercise its legislative right to terminate the Governor’s emergency order.”

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landy issued the following statement:

“The emergency powers act and the emergency health powers act are written to outline what extraordinary powers are granted to the Governor during a declared emergency. A termination clause is included outlining a simple process for pressing the stop button. Immediately upon termination, the emergency powers cease and the Governor’s powers revert to the ordinary powers afforded the Governor as outlined by our Constitution and laws. The termination process is effective immediately, unless provided otherwise in the petition, when a petition is signed by a majority of the surviving members within either body of the Legislature, the Senate or the House. The termination of emergency powers does not require any additional action other than the signed petition. Upon completion of the signed petition, the Governor is directed to issue a proclamation informing the public of the termination.”

And so, controversy continues.

State Representative Alan Seabaugh spoke with KEEL Radio News, saying:

“A petition signed by a majority of members can end the public health emergency at any time,” Seabaugh says, referring to the process invoked, “Essentially, we’ve ended the public health emergency. John Bel (Edwards) doesn’t want to acknowledge that we have that power. He said at his news conference Friday, ‘I’m not going to give up my power.’ Well, it’s not his power, it’s our power (and) we gave it to him and we took it back.”

Governor Edwards calls the petition and lifting of restrictions reckless, and said “You know burying heads in the sand and just pretending that COVID isn’t a problem, isn’t going to help.”

With cases expected to rise in the coming cooler months, many are worried about the lifting of restrictions, but at the same time, people are weary of the mask mandate, the limited access to businesses, and business owners themselves are paying the price with decreased revenue. Many have had to shut down.

Governor Edwards is not expected to sign an acknowledgment of this petition and so the restrictions are still actually in place until he does, but it’s clear that we are now in some murky, gray legal area. If you are a bar owner, and you stay open after 11:00 p.m. and operate at full capacity, will you be shut down or not?  Stay tuned.

I’ve been considering writing this article for a few weeks but hesitated because I felt some would believe I was just being melodramatic. Just this week I noticed a couple of prominent conservative news sites featured articles sharing the same exact concerns so I decided this was the proper article for me to write at this point in time.

There are so many factors that have led to my anxiety concerning violence and the upcoming election.

The political left has demonstrated an affinity for violence.  The amount of violence they have perpetrated just the last year is staggering.  In Portland Oregon alone ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter rioted for over 100 days.  How many cities were burned by leftists over police involved shootings this year?   We all have clear memories of leftists rioting on President Trumps Inauguration Day.   What are the chances of leftists rioting if President wins?  I believe they are high especially if it is a contested election.

I believe that there will be a tremendous amount of confusion over election results in many key states thanks to mail in voting.  It is widely believed by us on the political right that mail in voting is a tool to steal the election from President Trump.  There are far fewer safeguards when it comes to mail in voting and a tremendous amount of fraud has already proven to have taken place.  There is a very chance that the Supreme Court will have to settle some state elections and the election will end up in the House of Representatives where President Trump should win.  That would trigger a tsunami of violence from the left.

The news media has been trumpeting very loudly polls declaring that Joe Biden has a commanding lead over President Trump.  I believe these polls are fraudulent and the media are pushing them on purpose to stir up the left even further after a surprise Trump victory.  The author of this American Thinker article How Likely Is a Violent Transition of Power This Election?

Just as in 2016, nearly all political pundits predict a victory for the Democrat candidate.  The vast majority of MSM downplay any polls showing Trump leading the race and overplay the ones for Biden.  This bias toward the Democrat shapes the perception of the Democrat party (Republicans are mostly skeptical about those polls), setting false expectations for the Election Day results.  The pure-evil-fascist-Trump simply cannot be allowed to reign another term.  A wide array of the leftist groups is already coordinating efforts to ensure substantial public protests after the election to “defend the vote counting.”  “If Trump tries to stop the counting of mail-in ballots after Election Day, or otherwise tries to short-circuit the results, the scale of protests would be that of “the BLM protests on steroids,” they warn

How many times have the news media speculated that President Trump may not step down if he looses?  This is an attempt to cast doubt on a contested President Trump victory and to further inflame the political left, resulting in more violence from the left.

I am worried that the level of violence from the political left will be far greater after a President Trump victory than we have seen so far.  Hopefully governors and mayors take proper precautions.  I fear a lot of Democrats in authority will not.

Just as I was getting ready to publish my article I came across this Federalist article which proves my fears are more than justified.

Riot and protest instigators plan to “make sure Trump leaves the White House” by any means necessary after the Nov. 3 election, according to website posts from the group Shut Down DC and their allies. “W]e’re making plans to be in the streets before the polls even close, ready to adapt and respond to whatever comes our way,” the group says on its website currently.
