On this, the 248th anniversary of the issuance of The Declaration of Independence, our Constitutional Republic balances on a razor’s edge.  Thanks to our out-of-control federal government the United States is on the brink of descending into an abyss of absolute tyranny.  I think today is the perfect day to try and determine if the British government we fought to escape from was more tyrannical than the federal government is today.

It is time to examine some of the grievances enumerated in the Declaration of Independence and compare them to abuses of power committed by our current totalitarian federal government,

He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

The federal government has completely disregarded the letter and spirit of the Constitution.  The Deep State, the administrative state, and presidents who rule via imperial edict now pretend to be the three branches of the federal government.

He has forbidden his governors to pass laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his assent should be obtained; and, when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

The Supreme Court routinely overturns state laws despite the fact that they were never given the constitutional authority to do so. The federal government routinely passes profoundly unconstitutional laws that trample the sovereignty of the states.

He has dissolved representative houses repeatedly, for opposing, with manly firmness, his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the legislative powers, incapable of annihilation, have returned to the people at large for their exercise; the state remaining, in the mean time, exposed to all the dangers of invasions from without and convulsions within.

The federal government has completely abandoned its constitutional duty to secure the borders of the United States, opening this nation up to an invasion of illegal immigrants. 

He has obstructed the administration of justice, by refusing his assent to laws for establishing judiciary powers.

The federal government has engaged in lawfare against a presidential candidate and the American people.

He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.

The federal government now consists of innumerable agencies, none of which are authorized by the Constitution.  All of them trample on the rights of the American people.

For taking away our charters, abolishing our most valuable laws, and altering fundamentally the forms of our governments;

The federal government has disregarded the Constitution so thoroughly that they have transformed the United States from a Constitutional Republic built on individual liberty into a socialist democracy built upon collectivism.

By a very wide margin the federal government today is more tyrannical than British government of 1776.  This has come about slowly because far too few of us value freedom and individual liberty.  Far too of us have stood up against the tyrannical government and have said enough is enough. If we as a people do not stand up and demand a return to our Constitutional Republic the time may soon approach when we need a second revolution.

Well over a century ago Progressives began a systematic dismantling of the United States   These Marxists chose to operate slowly, by stealth and subterfuge to accomplish their fundamental transformation of our Constitutional Republic into a Socialist Democracy.  To accomplish this progressives have incrementally weakened all of the pillars supporting this great nation.  The founding principles, the Constitution, and the Christian heritage of the United States have particularly drawn the ire of the American political left.  With one video Heidi Przybyla of Politico demonstrated remarkable ignorance in her attempt to denigrate all three of these fundamental pillars.

HEIDI PRZYBYLA: I talked with a lot of experts on this and I have seen it with my reporting, Michael, which is that the base of the Republican Party has shifted. Remember when Trump ran in 2016, a lot of the mainline evangelicals wanted nothing to do with the divorced real estate mogul who cheated on his wife with a porn star, and all of that.

So what happened was that he was surrounded by this more extremist element. We are going to hear words like Christian nationalism, like the “new apostolic reformation.” These are groups that you should get very schooled on because they have a lot of power in Trump’s circle. And the one thing that unites all of them because there’s many different groups orbiting Trump.

But the thing that unites them as Christian nationalists, not Christians because Christian nationalists are very different, is that they believe that our rights as Americans and as all human beings do not come from any Earthly authority. They don’t come from Congress, from the Supreme Court, they come from God. The problem with that is that they are determining, men, are determining what God is telling them. In the past, that so-called “natural law,” it is a pillar of catholicism for instance, it has been used for good in social justice campaigns. Martin Luther King evoked it in talking about civil rights.

But now you have an extremist element of conservative Christians, who say that this applies specifically to issues including abortion, gay marriage, and it is going much further than that as you see, for instance, with the ruling in Alabama, this week that judges connected to the dominionist faction, and talking about a lot of other issues including surrogacy, IVF, sex education in schools, there’s a lot in addition.

Heidi Przybyla must not have been paying attention in history class when they discussed the Declaration of Independence.  Considering the abysmal state of our educational system it is also likely that that document was never discussed in any school she attended.

We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; that, to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.

Thomas Jefferson openly borrowed from John Locke’s Two Treatises of Government, which was written in 1689.

The state of nature has a law of nature to govern it, which obliges every one: and reason, which is that law, teaches all mankind, who will but consult it, that being all equal and independent, no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty, or possessions… (and) when his own preservation comes not in competition, ought he, as much as he can, to preserve the rest of mankind, and may not, unless it be to do justice on an offender, take away, or impair the life, or what tends to the preservation of the life, the liberty, health, limb, or goods of another.

Heidi Przybyla’s Christian Nationalism slur is particularly dangerous because it is meant to undermine one of our Constitution’s most important pillars, that of God-given Natural Rights. Heidi Przybyla is far from alone in her use of the Christian Nationalism slur. It has become all the rage on progressive faux news sites in an attempt to intimidate lovers of liberty into silence.

It has been argued by many progressives that the Declaration of Independence has absolutely no legal value.  That is true.  All legal power and authority for the government of the United States flows from the Constitution.  However, The Declaration of Independence very eloquently conveys the moral and philosophical foundation at the very core of the founding of the United States. 

Thomas Jefferson did not write a truly original document when he wrote the Declaration.  He chose to base that document mainly on the writings of John Locke.  That was because Locke based his most influential works, Two Treatises of Government, primarily on Natural Law.

As you can see from the opening paragraph of the Declaration of Independence, Natural Law is the very foundation of the most famous breakup letter ever written.

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

This next quote states quite clearly that Natural Rights are the very foundation of the Declaration of Independence.

We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness

This next quote is the most important for two reasons.  First, because Jefferson states that for governments to be legitimate, they must derive their powers solely from the consent from the governed.   Second, that the people have the right to tear down a government that is harmful to the natural rights of the people.

that, to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.

This last quote warns us that we must have very valid reasons before we throw off the yoke of an oppressive government.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security. Such has been the patient sufferance of these colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states.

While actually celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s most tragic decision, Roe versus Wade, Kamala Harris massacred the Declaration of Independence in a rather callous and portentous manner.  This article contains a transcript of her contemptible word salad.

We are here together because we collectively believe and know, America is a promise, America is a promise—it is a promise of freedom and liberty. Not for some, but for all. A promise that we made in the Declaration of Independence that we are each endowed with the right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Kamala Harris committed several egregious factual and philosophical errors with that one utterance, the most contemptible being her omission of life as one the Unalienable Rights listed in that passage of the Declaration of Independence.

Progressives, and the rest of their collectivist cousins, place little stock in the value of individual lives.  Their religious devotion to abortion is proof of this.  Abortion is the murder of the most innocent and helpless individuals. 

Leftists, such as American Progressives, have always treated certain classes of individuals as less than human.  These include Jews during the Holocaust, the slaves here in the United States, Ukrainians under the old Soviet Union in the 1930s, and the unborn.

Kamala Harris also neglected to inform us who endowed each and every individual with unalienable rights.  Leftists mistakenly believe that rights are granted by governments, because of this Democrats bestow ‘rights’ on their favored groups.  Because God directly endows each and every individual with their rights, it is a grave injustice when governments interfere with the rights of any individual.

The final mistake Kamala Harris made in her short statement occurred when she used the phrase “we collectively believe.”  She is gravely mistaken in the use of this language because Americans do not collectively do anything.  The United States was built upon individualism, not collectivism.
