…was of the counter of the Fifth Street Diner, (also known as the old time Luncheonette).

Well Stacy is gone but not forgotten, if you are in Fitchburg sometime in the future and you sit in the corner booth at the Diner/Luncheonette you will see a photo of a man sans fedora wearing a red sweat shirt with ALABAMA across the center of it with a big smile.

Come down and see it while you get the fish in particular, unless you are Charles Johnson, then sit at the other end next to the door, the fish is too good to be spat out in anger.

Q: How do I know that the experimental stuffing I concocted last night didn’t go over well?

Last night I went to my weekly board game night, got home about 11:30 and there was the pizza box on the stove.

I have cooked stuffed chicken breasts with meat straight from the Butcher shop 6 doors down and a stuffing made with some whole grain breadcrumbs that the wife picked up which I spiced with Garlic, Oliveoil, black pepper and a few other spices with a touch of Parmesan and Mozzarella cheese.

I could see that people where much more enthusiastic about the wings I made on the side but I didn’t expect an extra dinner out there.

Well back to the drawing board.

How bad are times around here?

Times are so hard that when I went to the supermarket I was able to find package after package of chicken feet and claws, but not a single package of boneless chicken breasts.

With people hard up more and more of the cheaper cuts are being carried in larger and larger quantities, anything to stretch a dollar.

Of course part of it is the change in demographics, as little as 5-7 years ago it would have been almost impossible to find chicken feet and claws in this neck of the woods outside a specialty store.

Oh and if you are wondering why I just didn’t go to Romano’s, they are closed on Mondays. Ironically the breasts I wanted are going to be on special this week there.

Is it important? No but just another little oddity of life.

…for putting the Richard T. Antoun murder by an islamist on page one.

Good luck waiting for the rest of the media to catch up.

Oh and three cheers to the Old Time Diner next door to Romano’s for the Pastrami on a bulkie with Grilled onions and Cheese that I ate while reading that paper.
