Jim Hacker: I can’t make my support too public

Duncan: It’ doesn’t have to be public, just so long as everyone knows

Yes Minister Party Games

There is one thing that jumps out at me concerning the resignation of Zucker at CNN and the reaction, particularly within CNN to these events that really drives the point home

At Wednesday night’s meeting in DC, Cuomo’s former colleagues made it clear there was no love lost.

‘An outside observer might say, “Well, looks like Chris Cuomo succeeded. He threatened. Jeff said, We don’t negotiate with terrorists, and Chris blew the place up.” How do we get past that perception that this is the bad guy winning?’ he said.

‘I think the issue is that it’s not a perception. What Jake just described is actually what happened here,’ echoed Chief White House Correspondent Kaitlan Collins.

Now I could write volumes about how, with rare fictional exceptions, it is unwise to tangle with a Sicilian who knows your secrets and holds a grudge (or do you think it’s a coincidence that all the Gov Cuomo criminal probes are closed by I digress) but the real story isn’t that team Cuomo exposed Zucker’s secret.

The real story is every person at CNN who is complaining about this scandal knew about it all along and these so called members of the 4th estate whose job it was to inform the public kept their mouths shut for years.

This is consistent with DaTechGuy’s 4th Law of Media Outrage

The degree of media exposure of the corruption or illegality committed by any individual or organization under investigation is directly proportional to its distance from the media’s ideology.

This was a repeat of the Harvey Weinstein story. As long as he was useful to the left the left/media was delighted to be 100% behind him and keep his actions a secret but once they became known in public circles suddenly he was beyond the pale.

But once the public knew what everybody at that table knew he became expendable per DaTechguy’s 2nde law of media outrage:

The level of acceptance of the positions and/or actions of any group or organization by the left and media is directly proportional to their current or potential value in electing liberal Democrats.

The idiot was no longer useful so he was out and those in media are outraged not because of the scandal but because the scandal was made public to those who should never know what the media gatekeepers don’t want them to know.

What a bunch of dishonorable bastards

“Here’s the tennis game, Donald Trump kissed a woman in a bathing suit. Trump hits back: Tell me about the president’s relationship with a guy named Jeffrey Epstein. That’s your tennis match.”

Donny Deutsch: Morning Joe 8:12 AM May 16th 2016

Yesterday Instapundit linked to this piece at the Hollywood Reporter on how the A-List crowd mixed with Jeffrey Epstein after his conviction and Stephen Green speaks thus:

I’d take their apparent umbrage more seriously had they covered the story with this much energy any time from, say, 2009 to last Friday.

This highlights a truth that a lot of people on the left know but are unlikely to say. It is this:

If Hillary Clinton was elected President of the United States in 2016 not a person in the media would have dared to write or say a word against Jeffrey Epstein him and the state of New York, run by Democrats would certainly not not have touched him because they would have known that Jeffrey Epstein was under the protection of the President of the United States.

just like Harvey Weinstein was.

I have a question for the left that is essentially same one I posed at the time of the Weinstein revelations (which were only revelations to the public, not to the leftists in the know) and it’s this.

How many of you would gladly and without hesitation deny justice to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein (and Harvey Weinstein) if it meant reversing the results of last presidential election?

Given what we’ve seen I suspect that the answer is practically all of them.

I’m remembering the coy saying about the French resistance. “If everyone who claimed to be in the resistance really had been, there would have been nobody left to collaborate.”

A few minutes ago I watched Oprah’s speech at the golden globes talking about empowering

women that has the left all a twitter (pun intended) about the possibility of an Oprah run for the presidency.

As nothing is impossible I won’t discount this completely but I want to remind all of you of something.

Oprah has been one of the most richest powerful women in the entertainment world for a very long time.  She is a person who can make or break a book or a film or a career.  All of Hollywood has paid homage to her for many many years.  The entire media complex hangs on her words, and as demonstrated this weekend when she talks about the plight of women, people listen.

And yet during all the years that Harvey Weinstein et/all were on the prowl she never bothered to speak out against him or give a platform for his victims to do so!

If anyone had the power to speak out and break this open it was Oprah.  Her power and influence was enough that Weinstein and the others would not be able to bring her down for talking, and if they had tried the public would have rallied behind her.  All she had to do was speak out and proclaim “Enough!”

She did not.

Oprah speech wasn’t brave, it wasn’t grand, it was designed to change the conversation away from a single basic fact that Glenn Reynolds put very well.

Remember, they’re not making a big deal because they found out what was going on in Hollywood. They always knew. They’re making a big deal because you found out what was going on in Hollywood. https://t.co/fV8YlV5gMk

These guys were a huge source of cash and power for the left, and to expose them and to protect those women would expose the Hollywood left for what they were.

If Oprah really cared about all these things she talked about in her speech at the golden globes as opposed to being a member of the Harvey Weinstein left, she would have given that speech last year, or the year before or the year before that.

She did not.

Never forget that.

Update: Rose McGowan get it

ROSE McGowan has lashed out at the stars who wore black to the Golden Globes, accusing them of “Hollywood fakery” for failing to take a stand against the sex abuse claims sooner.

The Charmed star claims the famous females who united against the scandal “wouldn’t have lifted a finger” to help if she hadn’t gone public with allegations against Harvey Weinstein.

Martin Rittenhome: Young man I sell over $14 million dollars a year worth of Geritol, Geritol, that’s the kind of businessman I am. That show twenty-one, cost me 3 1/2 million dollars year in and year out. Sales went up 50% when Van Doren was on. 50%! So the very idea that I was unaware of every detail or aspect of that show’s operation, well frankly it’s very insulting.

The incest taboo can be destroyed only by destroying the nuclear family as the primary institution of the culture. The nuclear family is the school of values in a sexist, sexually repressed society.

Andrea Dworkin Woman hating 1974

As the Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Al Franken business continues to unfold I think it’s important to note the real significance of all that has come out here.

For the last 40 years Hollywood has had a cultural agenda, first the pushing of birth control, then abortion, then divorce, then the dismissal of Marriage vs living together, then the gay agenda, then then the destruction of traditional marriage, then the transgender agenda.

And intermingled with this was a constant and regular attack on Christianity, particularly the catholic church which, Pope Francis’ statements not withstanding still opposes all of these things.  Said attacks reaching the point where the Church’s sex scandal which was primarily a scandal of gay pedophelia had nothing to do with homosexuality:

Got that sex with kids in an orientation  totally different from straight or gays why it’s practically a 3rd gender.  This oddly enough doesn’t tend to persuade because the logical follow-up is:  How DARE people discriminate against individuals, clerical or otherwise based on their orientation of wanting to have sex with kids?

That argument while being advanced slowly in academia hasn’t caught fire with the general public who despite the best efforts of certain filmmakers somehow doesn’t cotton to the idea of children as sex objects.

Or to put it simply, for the last four decades Hollywood and the TV industry has done their level best to turn their sexual and cultural peccadillos into the norm and the media and the Democrats who have been the beneficiaries of Hollywood largess have done their best to go along with this agenda for the sake of their fun and profit.

And more importantly has kept silence because they supported these changes

What’s even more amazing is, as I noted before how quickly we forget how during the Obama years the chance to expose this stuff came up and it was quashed.  That Dylan Farrow quote is worth repeating again:

What if it had been your child, Cate Blanchett? Louis CK? Alec Baldwin? What if it had been you, Emma Stone? Or you, Scarlett Johansson? You knew me when I was a little girl, Diane Keaton. Have you forgotten me?

Woody Allen is a living testament to the way our society fails the survivors of sexual assault and abuse.

So imagine your seven-year-old daughter being led into an attic by Woody Allen. Imagine she spends a lifetime stricken with nausea at the mention of his name. Imagine a world that celebrates her tormenter.

Are you imagining that? Now, what’s your favorite Woody Allen movie?

Alas at the time Obama was in the White House,  Hillary Clinton was going to be president next, Weinstein, Allen and Hollywood were invested in them and silence by all those who knew about them in the face of this in Hollywood remained golden:

Even worse if Ms Farrow is allowed to make such statements and be judged credible, then what other silent voices might speak up?  Might this damage the most effective tools the cultural left has to advance their cause?

If the ICK factor is to be moved in the direction our cultural elites wish for it to be the horns must not be allowed to find themselves affixed irreverently on the head of Woody Allen least they spread to others of his ilk in the eyes of the public.  They are to be reserved for Dana Loesch, Sarah Palin or even Mike Huckabee

This is why I believe that the culture wars need to be fought and as long as I have a voice in the great debate I intend to fight it.

And those of us who kept fighting paid for it as predicted four years ago:

Over the next few years you are going to be branded as bigots, hated and derided. You will be portrayed in every form of culture, plays, TV series and movies as people to be shunned and no member of the media fill fail to come after you for your offenses against the twin sacraments of Abortion & Gay Marriage.

But now like all totalitarian powers the end is in sight and as those oppressed see the gates about to fall, they stop being afraid and once that happens it becomes all over.

Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacy, James Toback have found this out, I suspect many more will follow in their path and when it collapses it will deal a blow to the cultural left that it will take all the money and power of the cultural left from foundations, to university endowments to the Soros crowd to contain.

And that’s why so many spent so much time to get us to stop fighting the culture ways but unfortunately for them there is one line from a Hollywood movie that we culture warriors have taken to heart.

Kevin Lomax:  In the Bible you lose. We’re destined to lose dad.

The Devil’s Advocate 1997

They may have forgotten that but we haven’t.

Final thought, isn’t it amazing how quickly the worm turns for the cultural left when it’s to their advantage.  Once the conversation was Roy Moore dating an 18 year old the ” age is just a number” crowd is strangely silent taken over by the ICK factor (and that was before they raised the ante on him).
