I love Liz Cheney!

Her appearance on morning Joe was incredible. She successfully took on Eugene Robinson, Mike Barnicle and Andrew Sorkin and ran rings around them and her argument was so strong that Andrea Mitchell who followed her was hesitant to attack even with her gone.

If we need a face and a voice for the GOP you just saw it.

Update: I guess her argument is was good enough for Ford but she would have taken exception to the word torture, and is the worm turning?

Update 2: Rush is running with this today

I hit polls on my last post, today Mark Steyn in response to Andrew “Birth Canal” Sullivan shows how math actually works:

If you have a million people, 90 per cent of whom are ethnic European and 10 per cent immigrant – and the 90 per cent have a fertility rate of 1.3 kids per couple (the Euro average) and the ten per cent have a fertility rate of 3.5 (the Euro-Muslim estimate), the 90 per cent will have 380,250 grandkids and the 10 per cent will have 306,250. In other words, two generations are all they need to catch up. That’s why cities from Malmo to Brussels are already on the brink of majority Muslim status, as government “Integration Ministers” implicitly acknowledge.

Where Mr Walker gets remarkably incurious is when he coos:

Immigrant mothers account for part of the fertility increase throughout Europe, but only part.

Yes, but what part? Here’s some more numbers. Let’s say you have 950,000 ethnic Europeans whose fertility rate is 1.3. And 50,000 immigrants move in with a fertility rate of 3.5. You’d have an overall fertility rate increase to 1.41, or almost ten per cent, entirely due to a tiny segment of the population. In fact, if 900,000 ethnic Europeans’ fertility rate declined from 1.3 to 1.2, but 100,000 immigrants with that 3.5 rate moved in, you’d still have a ten per cent increase in the overall fertility rate, even though 90 per cent of the population has bought a one-way ticket on the Oblivion Express.

This is why Radical Islam is such a danger, I’m not worried about them getting the nukes from Pakistan, our guys will take them out. I’m afraid that in a generation or two they will own the nukes of France and England.

And that’s before we consider the two other factors: Islam’s numbers in Europe grow through births plus continuing high immigration plus a rapidly expanding rate of conversion.

Europe is growing more Muslim every day. We can debate the speed, but not the direction. I wouldn’t pretend to Andrew Sullivan’s expertise in Governor Palin’s birth canal. But on my little hobby horse I think I’ll stick with my thesis. I’d be happy to take him for falafel at my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam in 2025. And afterwards he can buy me a drink at his favorite gay bar. If he can find one.

I will likely not live to see it even if I wasn’t overweight, but my kids and grandchildren will and God help them

Via The Other McCain I found this post at Hotmes

Tonight I met Gina and Rachael. I hope I’m spelling both of those correctly, but who knows?

Either way, they wanted to ask me about my schooling. I’m getting my MA. I didn’t say where (Johns Hopkins), just said I was getting it. I told them I just had to write my thesis. The obvious question followed: what am I writing my thesis on?

I carefully explained that I am writing my thesis on the multi-billion dollar industry that is the abortion industry. That the American public is fooled into thinking that this is about a woman’s right to choose, or a child’s right to life but, realistically, this is about a multi-billion dollar industry.

Little did I realize that I was speaking to a Planned Parenthood supporter. Even as I told her that PP brings in one-third of its profits from abortion (over one billion dollars per year) she couldn’t grasp what I was saying.

The post is interesting since the young lady she was talking to didn’t want to hear her “heroes” had feet of clay but I found this comment on the post even more interesting:

you don’t speak retarded? well, what about ignorant, do you speak that?
who uses the word retarded any more? don’t you have a clue how terrible that word is? don’t you know that when you use the word retarded you offend and demean people with special needs? you’re so busy trying to stop abortions, you should take one minute and give respect to those who are living.
something for you to think about.

The rightous offence simply leaps off the page. The actual subject, the arguments and the reality of what happened doesn’t matter, she used the word retarded she much be EVIL.

It seems to me that she could write just as good a thesus on the offense industry. A lot of people make a lot of money being offended and demanding payment because of it. Our friends on the left make careers out of it. (Read Sharpton, Jackson et/al).

More than that however it is meant as a conversation stopper she said retarted can’t trust what she says. He said Negro, must be a racist.

This isn’t offense, this translates into “you shut up” to the person charged and to everyone else “you don’t listen!”.

That is the goal and purpose, don’t be retarded and fall for it. The word retarded is defined as:

Occurring or developing later than desired or expected; delayed.

Gina and Rachel were retarded, they let their ignorance and unwillingness to accept an actual fact delay the their relization of a simple fact.

If you allow Mary’s offence over the use of the word to keep you from reading or conidering Monique’s argument, then you will be retarded from learning too.

And frankly although Bob’s long Josey Wales post is pretty good, I think Monique’s post illustrates the situation better simply by example.

Update: Maybe related I think the same tactic will be used here.

…from the greenroom comes the story of chief Red Specter.

The Ransom of Red Chief is a short story written by O. Henry in the early 1900’s about a child kidnapped for ransom in a small town by two criminals. But the criminals did not know what they were getting into, as the exuberantly mischievous child (nicknamed “Red Chief”) drove the criminals so crazy that they keep lowering the ransom price. But Red Chief’s parents would have nothing of it; they demanded money from the kidnappers to take their child back.

I loved reading the story as a child, and learned many lessons from it (for example, don’t wish too hard for something, you might get it). Apparently not many Democrats read the Ransom of Red Chief, or they would not have hooted and hollered so loudly when Arlen Specter announced that he was joining the Democratic caucus.

The whole thing is a exercise in schafenfreude. Particularly when the media has gone Specter Gaga and anointed it as a sign of doom for the republican party. When democrats fail to succeed with that 60th vote in the D column they will become the failures and we will reap the rewards. The netroots see it but what can they do other than support someone else in the primary?

Worm turning anyone?

Time to add Legal Insurrection to the blogroll I think.
