For the past several decades the political left here in the United States has been waging a guerilla style war on individualism.  That side of the political spectrum believes in collectivism, which is a belief system where individual humans have no true value.  Collectivism is the defining issue of the political left.

Individual identity, individual rights, and individual liberty have all been the very bedrock the United States was built upon.  Ever since the 1960s, the Democrat party has veered further and further to the left. Most Democrats today embrace collectivism, rather that individualism.

Unfortunately, the most rabid collectivists infected American colleges and Universities back in the 1960s, turning them into centers of indoctrination, rather than centers of learning.  From these indoctrination centers, collectivism has spread like a cancer across the United States.

Collectivists here in the United States worked particularly hard to infect the education departments of colleges and Universities, turning them into mills that produce collectivist high school and grade school teachers.  Particular emphasis was placed on creating collectivist school administrators and principles.  Teacher unions also became institutions of collectivist indoctrination.

Collectivist educators worked tirelessly to create clever sounding collectivist indoctrination schemes in order to stealthily indoctrinate American children, right under the noses of their parents.  Two of the most common schemes are Critical Race Theory and Social and Emotional Learning.

Until I read this article, UN Program Teaching Kids ‘SEL’ Really Seeks To Kill Individualism (thefederalist.com), I was unaware that one of these schemes originated with the United Nations.

School districts around the world are racing to implement Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programs in the name of improving their students’ social and emotional skills. In fact, according to the global purveyor of SEL standards, 27 states so far have adopted K-12 SEL competencies, and all 50 states have adopted SEL competencies for pre-K students. But where is this massive push for SEL coming from, and what are the motives behind it?

The answer to this question is becoming clear: The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is a primary force behind the SEL movement worldwide. A major way UNESCO advocates for SEL is through UNESCO’S Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development. The Gandhi Institute produces an online publication called The Blue Dot, which features articles from SEL experts and others around the globe that highlight “the relationship between education, peace, sustainable development and global citizenship.” Invoking Gandhi’s name in the title of this United Nations entity is meant to pull at the heartstrings of anyone who hears it. But should our heartstrings be pulled?

But why? What is it UNESCO wants to instill in children? UNESCO’s materials make it clear that SEL is intended to foster not only kindness between students, but cooperation with a global agenda rooted in the doctrine of collectivism. Nandini Chatterjee Singh, a program specialist for the Gandhi Institute, says “SEL skills are powerful competencies” that have been shown to “instill pluralistic thinking.” The institute’s website further says it is seeking to teach children to “exhibit prosocial behavior for … a peaceful and sustainable planet.”

In short, proponents of the sustainable development goals and SEL want to instill “pluralistic thinking” in your child in the name of global peace. They want children to be taught to value the “collective good” over individual liberties, rights, and property despite the fact that the freest, most prosperous nations in the world are founded on individual liberties, rights, and property.

The United Nations has long been an international institution devoted transforming the globe into a Socialist one world government.  As you can see from the following quotes from the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization website, Social and Emotional Learning is a key to making this collectivist hell happen.

At UNESCO MGIEP, we recognize the urgent need for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) to be mainstreamed into education systems to transform education and shape a future that is geared towards providing peace and human flourishing. SEL can be described as learning that allows all learners to identify and navigate emotions, practice mindful engagement and exhibit prosocial behaviour for human flourishing towards a peaceful and sustainable planet

Central to envisioning and shaping a more sustainable and peaceful future is youth. The mass mobilisation of youth towards sustainable development requires empowering youth with information and involving them in policy’s development, promotion and implementation. At UNESCO MGIEP, we work with youth organisations and young people worldwide by supporting their initiatives and curating youth action towards kindness and transforming education.

UNESCO MGIEP’s efforts in prevention of violent extremism include the development of an entirely youth led guide that puts forth youth-centred actionable recommendations for a wide range of stakeholders as well as capacity building for youth in SEL.

UNESCO MGIEP aims to mobilize the world’s youth to achieve the 17 SDGs through transformative acts of kindness. This campaign attempts to create a positive culture of kindness, in which every young person’s selfless act matters!

The Global Collective for SEL and Digital Learning is a multi-stakeholder alliance mobilized to promote Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and digital learning as critical new dimensions in achieving the Sustainable Development

It is beyond common knowledge to those born before 1970 that from the very beginning of the Unites States, freedom was universally cherished.  Sadly most college students would be shocked and greatly distressed to learn that universal truth. They have been subjected to endless progressive indoctrination.

It has become quite evident over the past decade that progressives dislike freedom rather intensely, more intensely than vampires dislike crucifixes and garlic.  Progressivism is a collectivist philosophy derived through a couple of generations from the teachings of Karl Marx.

Marxists believe that the vast majority of common folk are not capable of deciding for themselves. They believe that the unwashed peasants need the unending guidance of enlightened experts to guide their every move.  Most of the brainwashed victims of progressive indoctrination believe that they will be one of the enlightened experts who will be guiding the unsophisticated masses.

They are in for a very rude awakening.  All collectivist societies descend into a totalitarian nightmare where only a small number of the most ruthless thugs get to make decisions.  The vast majority end up as impoverished slaves.

The lack of organized resistance to the Wuhan Flu lockdowns and mandates is a sure sign of just how widespread and how thorough the progressive indoctrination has been over the past few decades.  Those who called for the freedom to live their lives, free from mandates, have been met with outright hostility.  Mass counter protests have met those protesting for freedom.

It was shocking to see the liberal media’s meltdown over Elon Musk’s attempt to buy Twitter.  Check out this pathetic attack on Elon Musk by the AP.  It shows how poorly the left understands freedom of speech and how much they loath it.

The freedom to defend yourself has been under constant assault from the left.  The Second Amendment has been one of their most ceaseless targets.

Your freedom to move as you wish is now in jeopardy because the Biden regime has decreed that all cars built after 2026 must have a government controlled kill switch.

Biden recently signed into law a requirement that all vehicles produced after 2026 be fitted with a remote kill switch. Electric vehicles are already equipped with this capability via internet-connected “superchargers.” These corporations can sell you a product for tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars, then prevent you from using them.

Worse yet, if the law is not challenged or repealed, these kill switches will have a “back door” that allows government agencies to shut your vehicle off remotely as well.

The lack of resistance to this egregious threat to one of our most basic freedoms has been depressing in the extreme

I’m not quite sure when progressive indoctrination replaced actual civics here in the United States.  I’m not sure anyone is because this transformation was gradual and stealthy.  In an attempt to research that point for this article I searched for the following phrase on Google: “when did social studies replace civics.”  Here is the most informative quote the anti oracles at Google provided:

Until the 1960s, it was common for American high school students to have three separate courses in civics and government. But civics offerings were slashed as the curriculum narrowed over the ensuing decades, and lost further ground to “core subjects” under the NCLB-era standardized testing regime

The response was just what I expected.  The transition began in the 1960s, when the Marxists began their transformation of the United States from a Constitutional Republic into a socialist democracy.  When I started grade school in the late 1970s the class was called social studies but civics was still at the core of the subject.  When I ended grade school it was more social studies and less civics.  That trend continued through my high school years.  When I attended the University of Massachusetts real civics was difficult to find.

The NCLB mentioned in the quote is the abbreviation for No Child Left Behind, one of George W. Bush’s crowning achievements.  Until Obama’s Common Core came along it was the worst thing to ever happen to American Public education.

It is extraordinarily safe to say that progressive indoctrination is now completely out of control here in the United States, at all levels.  It has infected all subject.  It has taken so many different forms, all of which are meant to turn every single student into an ignorant, unquestioning, and obedient slave.  The political left does not want educated free citizens.  The more ignorant, immoral, and unhappy we are the easier it will be for the Democrats to control us and all aspects of our lives

This quote from a Benjamin Rush Essay written in 1786 provided the inspiration for my article this week.  It appeared in my Facebook news feed in the form of a meme shared by the Atlas Society.

Freedom can exist only in the society of knowledge. Without learning, men are incapable of knowing their rights, and where learning is confined to a few people, liberty can be neither equal nor universal.

James Madison wrote something very similar in a letter in written in 1822.

A popular government, without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy; or, perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance: And a people who mean to be their own Governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.”

My favorite founding father, Thomas Jefferson, wrote this to Charles Yancey, 6 January 1816.

if a nation expects to be ignorant & free, in a state of civilisation, it expects what never was & never will be. the functionaries of every government have propensities to command at will the liberty & property of their constituents. there is no safe deposit for these but with the people themselves; nor can they be safe with them without information. where the press is free and every man able to read, all is safe.

Unless the American people seize back control of our entire educational system real soon, we will no longer be a free country.

The margin for victory was so great for the Republican gubernatorial candidate, Glenn Youngkin, that it was impossible for the Democrats to steal the election.  I am absolutely sure that if the margin of victory for Youngkin would have been narrower, the Democrats would have executed one of their all too familiar election steals, and the Republicans would have done nothing about it

The statewide elections in Virginia proved to be a clean sweep for the Republicans.  Check out this Breitbart article for more details.

Youngkin was running alongside former Del. Winsome Sears, a Jamaican immigrant and military veteran running for lieutenant governor, and Del. Jason Miyares, a Cuban American angling to unseat incumbent Attorney General Mark Herring (D). Both of the Virginia Republicans had also been declared winners by Decision Desk HQ as of the time of this writing.

Despite the victories of Winsome Sears and Jason Miyares in Virginia, the mainstream media is, of course, blaming the Republican wins in that state on racism.  Check out this Newsbusters article: (emphasis is from the original article)

Minutes after polls closed in Virginia on Tuesday, MSNBC’s election night co-hosts made it clear that they were pessimistic about their chances as they instead continued to lie about gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin, his voters, and Republicans writ large by calling them “dangerous” human beings “to our national security” and racists “in fleece” peddling “lies” about critical race theory (CRT).

ReidOut host Joy Reid was, not surprisingly, the worst. Five minutes after polls closed, Reid peddled the lie that Youngkin ran a racist campaign to ban Toni Morrison from schools and held out hope for Democrat Terry McAuliffe on the basis of Black voters who were scared that Youngkin “would purge” books about W.E.B. DuBois and Martin Luther King Jr. from schools.

The Democrat candidate for governor, Terry McAuliffe, has no one to blame for his crushing defeat other than himself.  He made a statement that was completely at odds with everything the United States stands for,  It was a statement that only holds true in Marxist, and other totalitarian, nations.  Here is a video of that so infamous statement:

McAuliffe doesn’t want parents to have a say in their child’s education – YouTube

Ever since the Democrats successfully stole the 2020 presidential election from President Donald Trump, they have become so emboldened that they are now saying the silent parts out loud.  Up until the steal the Democrats were careful to not give too loud a voice to their Marxist beliefs.  That sentiments expressed by McAuliffe is deeply rooted in Marxist and other totalitarian philosophies, where children are viewed as property of the state.  That is completely the polar opposite of the way things have always been here in the United States, where parents have always been the ultimate decisions makers for their children.    MaAuliffe lost the election primarily because his statement, most understandably, provoked a stupendous wave of outrage amongst the parents of Virginia.  The parents of Virginia, along with the parents of most other states, were already outraged by so many other things Democrats have been doing to school children for the past several years.  This tweet by Tom Cotton perfectly captures the parental outrage that led to Youngkin’s victory.

Parental rights and outrage over progressive indoctrination is very much a winning issue for the Republicans because they are on the right side of these most fundamental issues.  If they run with them during the midterm elections and the 2024 presidential election, they should have a much easier path to victory.
