Some miracles are more possible than others

Today I went to the unemployment office to re-open my claim (hopefully the study and Wednesday’s interview will make it semi moot).

Because of some things at the house the plan to get there before it opens was shot so I was ready, I had my Palin book and my Ipod and was prepared for a two hour wait like the last time…

…they had me taken care of in 15 minutes. Apparently the claim re-opening is the easiest thing in the shop, but 15 minutes with the place packed? That is one serious miracle.

As a believing Catholic I’m prepared for miracles but wasn’t prepared for that.

However some things are almost a miracle too far, like the New York Times covering the hacked Global Warming Documents:

And as a nice sequel of sorts to our previous post on leftwing cognitive dissonance, Orrin Judd spots this staggering moment of hypocrisy from the New York Times’ Andrew C. Revkin of their “Dot Earth” blog on Friday:

The documents appear to have been acquired illegally and contain all manner of private information and statements that were never intended for the public eye, so they won’t be posted here.

And they don’t contain any obvious state military secrets as well, unlike say the Pentagon Papers during the Vietnam War or more recently, the secrets of War on Terror, or any of a number of other leaked documents the Times has cheerfully rushed to print.

Back in 2006, when his paper disclosed the previously confidential details of the SWIFT program, which was designed to trace terrorists’ financial assets, New York Times executive editor Bill Keller said on CBS’s Face the Nation, “one man’s breach of security is another man’s public relations.” Of course, much like the rest of the media circling the wagons with ACORN, it’s not at all surprising that the Times circles the wagons when it’s necessary to save the public face of their fellow liberals.

After all the release of this information won’t put American soldiers lives in danger or risk national security so of course it’s not worth printing.

You know eventually if they don’t just fold the paper might decide to just market strictly to their niche liberal market. If that happens then watch it become even worse.

When I first started reading Instapundit there was a blub at the top that said “The NY Times of Bloggers”. I think the Times if they had any brains would set a goal to be called the Instapundit of Newspapers.

If they set that as a goal and acted accordingly what a change that would be.

…since it looks like the ECLA decision earlier this year has apparently split the church:

On Wednesday, an 11-member steering committee of Lutheran CORE (Coalition for Renewal), meeting in New Brighton, Minn., said it cannot remain inside the 4.7-million-member ELCA after the denomination agreed at its August churchwide assembly in Minneapolis to ordain partnered gay clergy.

That decision, CORE said in a statement, created “a biblical and theological crisis throughout the ELCA and conflict in local congregations.”

Hey the Pope can give them the Anglican treatment. Roman Catholicism offers open arms and the C of E gives their conservatives the finger:

The timing of the General Synod decision, in the same week as Pope Benedict’s generous and statesmanlike Apostolic Constitution, will concentrate minds. Many traditionalists will conclude that Anglo-Catholicism itself was eventually bound to fail: for although the Church of England embraces a great deal of Catholic liturgical practice – more so now than at any time since the Reformation – it governs itself according to Protestant principles of self-determination.

The Pope’s Ordinariate will appeal greatly to those Anglo-Catholics who now understand that their movement has been destroyed by its inherent contradictions. But what about those who were prepared to stay Anglicans if the Synod had given them the byzantine safeguards they were demanding?

So off to Rome they go, will the same thing happen to Lutherans? Perhaps not. After all the Lutherans have somewhere else to go.

Two factors work together to leverage apostasy. One is the extreme nastiness of the Left. There is a Satanic energy in apostasy, which never hesitates to engage in the worst sins to advance their cause. In the name of love and unity, they divide and sling mud. Nothing is too low for them. Crying “slander!” when doctrinal issues are addressed publicly, they engage in backdoor campaigns against anyone in their way.

The other factor is the willingness to compromise with the Left to appease them for the moment. How enticing. Should I say something or accept the call I always wanted?

Jodie Evans the successor to Jane Fonda

Seriously you can’t make stuff like this up:

Top Obama donor and fundraiser Jodie Evans met with the Taliban in Afghanistan on a recent trip there, according to a report by Jane Fonda of a discussion she had with Evans last month. The meeting with the Taliban took place just weeks before Evans was videotaped directly handing to President Barack Obama a package of information about her trip to Afghanistan at a high dollar fundraiser in San Francisco.

Let’s quote Fonda directly:

I sat next to Jodie who told me a little about her recent trip to Afghanistan with an American delegation that included a retired colonel, and member the State Department. While there, she met with people ranging from the brother of President Karzai, Afghan members of Parliament, activists, to warlords and members of the Taliban. Jodie is co-founder of the peace organization, Code Pink, and always willing to go to any lengths to try and find out what’s really going on.

Gee meeting with our enemies when we are at war with them. It looks like Jane hasn’t changed all that much in 40 years. I guess this is the new Vietnam after all.

The fact that I am seeing this just before going to a meeting concerning the eleven-eleven campaign breaks the irony meter and turns my stomach. Our failure to arrest Fonda for Treason 40 years ago is still paying dividends.

Just remember Evans is part of the Obama fund raising crew. Would she get away with it under President McCain?

Never forget we did this to ourselves and as always we get the government we deserve.

Update: Just to clarify my eleven-eleven meetings are all with local people about getting involved, they are not “national meetings” after all I’m just an unemployed tech guy.

Update 2: Gateway had this yesterday and I didn’t see it. Apparently neither did the MSM. (shock!)

Update 3: The president now says he’s restored America’s standing, are we standing up or bowing down. Combined with this I’m in danger or a going Kryten moment. Is Legal Insurrection right that this is his “Mission Accomplished” moment?
