A dangerous wish for the left

All over the net we see the left celebrating the idea that Rush Limbaugh has a higher profile:

Politico:

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel charged Sunday that conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh is “the voice and the intellectual force and energy behind the Republican Party.”

Emanuel, speaking in deliberately soothing tones, told anchor Bob Schieffer on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that Limbaugh has been up front about “praying for failure” by President Obama.

Washington Monthly
:

It’s a strategy with all kinds of appeal. Limbaugh is not exactly a respected public figure (drug-addled shock-jock who’s actively rooting for America’s decline), but Republicans continue to hold him in high regard. With that in mind, Democrats and Limbaugh, oddly enough, have the same goal: convince the general public that he’s the ostensible head of the Republican Party.

Greg Sargent:

Top Democratic operatives are planning a stepped up campaign to promote Rush Limbaugh as the public face of the GOP — an effort that will include recruiting Dem governors to make this case on talk shows, getting elected officials to pen Op eds arguing it, and running more ads pushing it, a senior Democratic operative says.

Key leadership staff in the House and Senate, and in all the political committees, have been encouraged by senior Dem operatives to push this message wherever possible, the operative says.

“I’m encouraging everybody to go out and say this,” Paul Begala, the well-known Dem strategist, just told me by phone. “I’m hot for this. Let’s get this out every way we can.”

All this talk is foolish. Combine the Democratic party’s efforts with CNN’s decision to broadcast the entire Rush Broadcast adds up to a lot of people who will actually be exposed to not the caricature of Rush Limbaugh that the media creates but the actual person with actual ideas and belief and the ability to articulate them (Andrew Sullivan not withstanding).

Since Rush also very leery of phony ambush journalism he is able to deliver a tight message when he appears as a guest on various shows.

As our democratic friends seem to have forgotten 1994 lets point out that a person doesn’t become the most popular radio host in history and remain so for two decades without being able to communicate. CNN’s attempt to turn the speech into something it wasn’t isn’t effective when people have actually seen it.

Combine his skills with the likely result of the Obama policies and I suspect we will see conservatives with a lot more seats in 2010 and maybe even a different result in 2012.

Kevin Cosner needs to thank Rush Limbaugh…

…Because a million people who likely never would have rented Swing Vote now likely have it on their netflix list.

It would be interesting to see how the rental changes this week.

CAN be wrong:

Charles W. “Chas” Freeman, Jr., has been named head of the National Intelligence Council, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence announced this afternoon.

Martin (I love Obama) Perez is shocked shocked:

That Freeman would be chosen as the president’s gatekeeper to national intelligence is an absurdity. It would be as if I were appointed the gatekeeper to that intelligence.

And not only is the guy in the pocket of the Saudi’s but read this:

What the left is unable to do is defend Freeman’s views on China, where he unapologetically supports the bloody crackdown on democracy activists who dare protest in the streets of the capital, and Saudi Arabia, which as far as Freeman is concerned is something like Berkeley in the desert. The left spent years bemoaning the close ties between the Bush family and the Saudi royals — and it was a relationship that few on the right were eager to defend. Now the left can have their turn defending a man who is so closely tied to the Saudi Kingdom that in the weeks after 9/11 he wouldn’t even consider halting his business with the bin Laden family.

What did Perez say before the election?:

I have written here and elsewhere that Barack Obama’s views on Israel and the possibilties of peace between it and the Palestinians are both tough-minded and deeply comprehending. I don’t at all think that I’d be disappointed with an Obama presidency, and certainly not with his attitude towards the Jewish State.

And that was good enough for Andrew “clear eyed” Sullivan:

If Marty ain’t worried, ain’t nobody need to worry. Of course, Marty suffers from the same malady I do: clear-eyed understanding of what the Clintons actually are.

Hey I guess that 77% are leftist first and Jews second. Thou shall have no other Gods but liberalism. Glenn’s reader Patrick McNiff nails it:

It is kind of hard to get too exercised over his appointment as it relates to Israel in light of the following:

Barack Obama wins 77 percent of Jewish vote, exit polls show
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1034574.html

As Obamas favorite pastor might say : “The chickens are coming home to roooost”

Elections have consequences…

I still maintain to many this is a feature not a bug and I think this is even worse.

BTW I accidentally hit publish instead of “blockquote” which is why an incomplete post went up.

UPDATE: Gateway pundit points out that Andrew might have had a point about Mrs. Clinton:

Jewish leaders are stunned that Hillary is hammering Israel over Gaza.

It remains to be seen if this is Clinton acting or if she: vas only following orders!

Well at least something is selling

It appears that the Obama administration has managed to stimulate at least one sector of the economy:

Firearms sales have soared the past couple of months, and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) attributes this to concerns about incoming lawmakers.

A recent poll done by Southwick Associates, which specialize in economic and business statistics related to fish and wildlife, revealed that 80 percent of respondents said they expect it will become more difficult for them to purchase firearms under the current administration. Less than 1 percent indicated they expect gun purchases to become less difficult.

Increases in firearm sales since the November election are a strong indicator these polls are correct. The NSSF cited data from the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), which showed a 24 percent increase in firearms purchaser background checks for the month of December 2008 over the prior December.

A friend of mine hit a gun store just across the NH border said the place was very busy and the owner said his sales were way up.

Hey and these support manufacturing jobs too the best type.
