If there is one thing that our democratic friends can take comfort in…

…it’s that they got Rush Limbaugh to admit publicly that he was wrong about something:

I want to announce to the Republicans that I was wrong. I want to announce to all of you in this audience that I was wrong when I advised the Republicans to skip this summit. (interruption) What’s unseemly, for me to admit that I was wrong? I know. It’s very difficult for people to deal with this. (interruption) Well, I’m not a slave to my accuracy rating. I don’t do things just to keep the rating up. You know, I’m not concerned about polls. I just report what our opinion audit is. But the Republicans need to be commended here for having a pretty good strategery of going up there and ramming this down their throats and not rolling over and playing dead, not rolling over and talking about bipartisanship and not saying, “Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mr. President, we really want to work with you. We want to get along.” They are taking it to him.

I really think that our democratic friends who concluded that this president wasn’t a great leader when it came to legislating decided that his skills at oratory were so great and his personal approval rating high enough that he could simply dominate the proceedings. The media believed this too and decided that this summit would be an excellent chance to use those skills to force republicans to go along…

Remember in the house there is no need to get republicans to go along and in the senate they only need one to get past 60. What this really is about is to provide enough votes so that the responsibility read: blame for an unpopular bill that will reward democratic groups so that democrats alone don’t have to take the political heat for it. I’ll say what I’ve said before:

If this health care reform was any good or desired by the public the Democrats would have passed it without republican votes and rubbed Republican faces in it.

The fact that they have to resort to this nonsense tell you that it is not what they claim it is.

…But back to the president, the president and his allies forgot something. Normally this president is filtered by sound bites and surrounded by media commentary that is favorable, while republicans are not. Yesterday via CPAN the country saw the president unfiltered and unprotected and the same for the republicans.

The end result, he was revealed for what he is, the man my brother (the one from Prince Pizza) likes to call “fluffy Hussein”.

Without that filter and without the aura he becomes what he is, an inexperienced Chicago machine poll who is in way over his head.

Is he capable of learning and improving? I think so, after all he has learned enough not to mess up Iraq and to keep fighting in Afghanistan. Will it happen? We will find out won’t we?

It’s true for global warming and it’s true for Veggies from Walmart:

On to the details: Kummer buys two batches of nearly identical groceries at Wal-Mart and Whole Foods. He has them prepared in a restaurant kitchen and invites taste testers to make a blind side-by-side comparison. The Whole Food grocery set cost $50 more, $20 of which is spent on top of the line chicken breasts (Wal-Mart didn’t really offer equivalently high-end meat.)

The taste testers preferred the Wal-Mart veggies overwhelmingly, with complaints about the meat and dairy. “The tasters were surprised,” he writes, “when the results were unblinded at the end of the meal and they learned that in a number of instances they had adamantly preferred Walmart produce. And they weren’t entirely happy.”

As I’ve said before you have to go where the data takes you, like it or not.

…if it wasn’t for the constant cheerleading for candidate Obama, and their willing suspension of disbelief concerning Obamacare etc, the president might not have gone so far out on a limb to enact such foolish legislation.

If the media was more moderate in its presentation and the congress more moderate in its attempts to make law the overreaching and arrogance of this administration would have been avoided, the “reporting” concerning the teapartiers didn’t help either.

So ye of the administration and the left wing media if you want to know who is to blame for Sen Bayh’s departure buy a mirror.

Jones admitted this weekend that there has been no significant global warming in the last 15 years.

But, that didn’t stop these fraudsters from bilking the EU and US for £800,000 ($1,253,624.84) annually for the last 20 years..

Meanwhile Viscount Monckton who has taken a lot of hits over the years comments:

Now, Professor Phil Jones of the University of East Anglia has admitted publicly, and — as far as I know — for the first time, that there has been no statistically significant “global warming” for 15 years. He has also admitted that his Climatic Research Unit has lost much of the data behind the “hockey-stick” graph, via which Michael Mann and other Climategate conspirators had falsely attempted to demonstrate that the Medieval Warm Period was not warmer than the present.

Jones has admitted that he is not very good at keeping data tidily. And that, in a scientist, is a startling omission. Seekers after truth in the natural world, from Leonardo da Vinci to Isaac Newton, were famous for keeping notebooks. There they carefully recorded all of their observations. Newton, who went to the same grammar school as Margaret Thatcher (one of the few grammar schools not to have been abolished by politicians intent on destroying the last vestiges of sound education in Britain), had been taught to keep these notebooks from an early age.

Yet Phil Jones had not managed the most basic task of anyone compiling a temperature record. He had not kept, in good order, the data on which the record was based. Anyone who reads the “Harry Read-Me.txt” file — which contains 15,000 lines of commentary by a programmer about the numerous appalling defects in data handling and processing at the Climate Research Unit — cannot help but be struck by the sheer ineptitude of the whole proceeding.

the six meat buffet is struck by something else:

An open request to the British Press. In addition to absolutely kicking the arse of your counterparts in the American unofficially state-run media on the subject of so-called “climate change” – your next story should be about how and why they have ignored this story completely.

Call them up. Interview them. Get them on the record as to how this story that you all are exploiting, like the fabled last oil reserve buried deep in a caribou’s hindquarters, is nary worth a mention by our Rip Van Winkle Press. Perpetually trapped in a mental time warp between an early club-you-over-the-head 1990’s Mtv raising awareness campaign and it’s discredited future.

It’s not a time warp, it’s a credibility warp. Once they admit there is a story there then they have to explain their own actions, and the decisions at the network to support those actions.

Ironically the first journalist who issues the mea culpa will likely get away with it because he is first, it will be followed by an avalanche of the same, but not to the same effect.
