Some pleasant surprises

Nothing like pleasant surprises its like finding a $20 in your pocket.

#1 John Stewart and the daily show tweaking Obama:

Hey, credit Jon Stewart with daring to acknowledge what no one in the press will, even if he’d rather not: that the “arrogant swaggering cowboy” did the things he did, and said what he said, because those are the things you do and say to terrorists, whether the Upper West Side likes it, or not.

Obama – getting those daily threat reports – has figured it out.

And apparently, the left has figured out that “when Obama says it, he doesn’t really mean it, so that gives me hope.”

#2 The ACLU sues Muslims over public funding:

The Minnesota chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union says it’s suing a charter school that caters to Muslim students.

The ACLU names Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy, or TiZA, and the Minnesota Department of Education in a lawsuit in federal court that says the charter school is using taxpayer money to illegally promote religion.

The charter school, which has campuses in Inver Grove Heights and Blaine, has fallen under fire after a substitute teacher claimed the school was offering religious instruction in Islam to its students.

Still waiting for a ACLU suit on the Boston Mosque but I’ll take the steps I can get.

And if the British Pound keeps dropping I will be able to afford to restart the Big Finish Dr. Who subscription. It is already $40 cheaper online with shipping then locally. As of today the Companion Chronicles are barely over $10 each at that’s INCLUDING shipping from England.

That was a surprise

Yesterday when I dialed in to make my weekly Unemployment Telecert a message came up saying it was out of order. I figured this would mean a long wait to get through today it was up. Imagine my surprise when I got through on the first try today.

Speaking of surprises I’ve been going through the bills, we seem to be keeping up pretty good. I’m not saving anything or putting anything aside for Christmas as I normally do but I’m also not spending very much at all. Since I’ve allocated almost everything to bills the bills are not only being kept up but are getting ahead. If I can keep this level of spending down once I’m employed it will make a huge difference come College tuition time.

Hopefully all of this will be moot in a few weeks or less. We will see how tomorrow’s nibble goes.

brrrrrrrr

Well the cold has finally gotten to us. 11 degrees this morning and 4 days of this stuff.

Lucky the snow will miss where I am.

The water pipes are not going to be doing so good I suspect.

At least I’m free to shuttle the kids the next few days, might as well take advantage of the free time.

Another quality Monk

Everyone has heard of USA’s series Monk staring Tony Shaloub. It is a first rate TV show and worth your time.

However a monk you might not have heard of is Ed Monk a Virginia high school teacher and playwright writer of short plays.

My oldest’s High School will be performing Monk’s play
Day 6
later this month as part of their competitive plays. I was going over the script with him and it is simply hilarious.

I would strongly suggest that if you like a good short comedy find a local high school that is preforming it and watch it. If it is performed half as good as it is written then it will be great.
