How do we know the Apocalypse has come?

Turner Classic movies is featuring The Naked Gun on demand.

Ok maybe it’s a just a sign I’m old, it is a really funny movie but C’mon.

…there is always this post about a movie called the Runaways.

It’s rock and roll: they tore each other apart. For a time. (There are exceptions: see Ford, Lita, whose beauty was more conventional that that of the front girls. And her music? Much less, thank you very much.)

I envy Joy right now, my favorite distraction is unavailable for another two weeks.

If you need to walk away from the healthcare vote for a bit a movie isn’t a bad idea.

Question: DaTechGuy, why aren’t you talking about the various whip counts.

All of the whip counts are guesses, they have been all over the map. You have a better chance of getting your entire bracket correct in March Madness than to get an accurate whip count.

I still don’t think it is going to pass. Until the vote actually takes place that can’t be confirmed, so I’m not going to play guessing games with numbers. However I will point to Robert Stacy McCain’s American spectator article comparing this push to the end of Animal House:

Even then, Scott Brown was driving his Dodge truck through the snow en route to the Jan. 19 Senate victory that most political observers at the time believed was the final death-blow to this unpopular legislation. Could there be a more decisive electoral verdict than for a Republican to be elected in liberal Massachusetts on a promise to stop the health-care bill?

Well, the voters be damned.

He concludes thusly:

At this point, however, the arguments for passage resemble another Animal House scene, with Obama in the role of Otter when he announces, “I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part.” It remains to be seen whether House Democrats will supply Bluto’s famous answer: “We’re just the guys to do it.”

It’s an amazing thing to watch people walk off a cliff while insisting that they will fall up.

Who knew that Sen Blutarski was still in Congress?

Inglorious Bastards: Amazon Review

My review of the DVD Inglorious Bastards staring Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz and Melanie Laurent. (Yes I know there are bigger names in the film but they are the characters that drive it.) is available at Amazon.com here.

I was very surprised when I saw this come in NetFlix, the wife got it for Brad Pitt and had no idea what she was getting into.

Oh and I know my reading and reviews have fallen behind. I’m nearly done with The Barbary Pirates and hope to start The War Lovers tomorrow. If I finish Dietrich’s book early enough I’ll try to get a review up before midnight. If not I’ll have both reviews on the plate for next weekend.

Update: For reasons I can’t understand this post gets an awful lot of attention lately, if you stopped by leave a comment to let me know why.
