In fairness since the Nobel stuff broke on Friday they had little time to do much with it, but i expected a bit funnier. The weekend update part was pretty good.

I suspect CNN will not fact check the weekend update thing about Limbaugh’s weight. I really figured they’d do something concerning Clinton and the award but again they didn’t have much time.

Still not bad.

Update: Hot air is less forgiving.

Even in the show’s diminished state, it’s hard to believe a team of pros couldn’t do better. I can only assume they felt remorse after the media fed The One a crap sandwich over last week’s bit and decided to pull their punches for him this time.

I think if the announcement was on Wednesday instead of Friday they would have done better.

Some have objected to the award to president Obama because he doesn’t have achievements to back things up.

Lets take a look at the Nobel statement:

Oct 9, 2009 Olso:

“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future.”

Hope for the future, well we have seen this before:

Jan, 3 BC. Jerusalem

“Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.” (Luke 2:29-32)

Maybe Andrew Klavan was right.

From Kos to Talk Left to the American Spectator to Too conservative.

Then again if the turns it down to the terrorists win?

Yourish thinks he won’t

And the truly frightening thing is: I’m betting Obama thinks he deserves it.

Lets see what the president says….I’ll liveblog his speech.

They keep stalling and stalling bringing him out. Maybe he will turn it down. If he does it will be the most presidential thing he has done yet.

Update:
Here he comes…

“This isn’t how I expected to wake up this morning.”

I guess not

“I don’t view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments”

Ya Think?

“This prize reflects the kind of world we want to build.”
And what kind is that?

“I will accept this award as a call to action.”

To do what?

Apparently this is a mandate on Climate Change and nuclear disarmament.

“We can’t accept a world where people are denied opportunity”

Are we going to see an international stimulus plan?

“This award must be shared with everyone who strives for justice and dignity.”

Well it should have been shared with SOMEONE!

I think this is a real screwtape moment concerning reality.

Yourish wins!

Byron York reports:

This morning on MSNBC, presidential adviser David Axelrod was at pains to explain how his boss could possibly deserve this prize. “I think it’s an affirmation by the Nobel committee that the things he’s been working on and talking about around the world are important for humanity.”

Incredibly, “just words” appear to have been good enough to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
