Thinking of the Boston Red Sox, after watching this version of the team play I’ve decided that they are one of the most interesting teams in the league for two simple reasons:

  1. They have a lot of young players with great futures ahead of them.
  2. They are good enough to beat the best teams on any given day, and also bad enough to lose to the worst team on any given day (They split series with the Braves AND the White Sox who had lost 14 straight.

That means it’s always worth watching because you never know what’s coming up on any given day.

Watching the left go absolutely ape-shit over Israel rescuing four of their hostages has been one of the most interesting spectacles I’ve ever seen. I suspect it has been an eye opener to a lot of folks who didn’t recognize what they had become.

The Obama (oops I mean Biden) administration’s determination to not only save Hamas but to avoid any credit on this point is rather astounding, well given as I said the fact that it’s the Obama team running the show perhaps it’s not.

But all of this makes a great backdrop to Bibi’s speech before congress coming up.

That will be quite a spectacle complete with insurrectioney leftists outside and perhaps inside, who will of course not be prosecuted.

Unexpectedly of course

A long time ago my former radio co-host John Weston told a story about Obama that I won’t repeat without evidence but I will say two things:

  1. All of the actions of this and the first Obama terms are consistent with said story
  2. Just about unthinkable things that has happened in our culture over the last 10 years was predicted by John 15 years ago

If he knew stock futures like he knew America’s future he’d be rich today

Unlike the Redsox the Celtics have been less interesting to watch as they have pretty much rolled over everyone they have played lately.

So far the Boston Celtics have been unstoppable in the finals. Dallas is going to need to go 4-1 against the Celtics over the next five games to take this title.

While this is possible in theory the Celtics have not gone 1-4 or even 2-3 over any five game period this entire season.

At this point the only real danger to the Celtics are themselves and you can see that both Tatum and Brown have bad memories of their last trip to the finals and are determined not to repeat it.

That’s a good sign for the team but bad for talk radio who are running out of things to say.

The fuss about Catlyn Clarke being left off the US Olympic teams has made for an interesting dynamic.

The US woman’s team has won seven straight goal medals at the Olympics in fact their winning streak is seven years older then my 1999 LeSabre. They have not lost a game in the lifetime of my youngest son who was born in 1993.

Given these facts it’s safe to say they are a better bet to win the Gold then the Celtics are to win the NBA title up 2-0 already. The team doesn’t need Clarke to win and I suspect not a woman on that team wants her straight white untattooed ass on the court with them. But Clarke’s omission does create one problem for their team.

With the length of this 32 year winning streak it would be only natural that sooner or later they would drop a game as the rest of the world slowly catches up. Under normal circumstances such a loss on the road to Gold would be no big deal.

But can you imagine what the reaction will be if they finally lose a game the year Clarke is left off the team?

I think the reaction of fans would be humiliating for the team and the coaches and this is going to mean extra pressure for that team to win and win big.

Well you asked for it.

During the Obama years when his administration was young I pointed out repeatedly that he was basically a cheap Chicago Machine Pol.

It’s apparently much worse in the sense that his administration and the Biden admin that his people control have basically brought Chicago politics to the national level, where every part of government is used to quell & destroy opposition on one hand and the levers of power simply exist to enrich friends and perpetuate the machine, even down to the lowest civil service level.

They have remade the courts, the civil service and even the military in their image and the consequences of this are likely to destroy America or drive it toward Civil War and worst of all they’ve done it at the behest of our enemies.

I really don’t have words to describe what I think of the people who have allowed it to happen for the sake of power, status and greed but that’s a post Christian society for you.

A couple of days ago I saw it theorized that the reason Gallagher is resigning in a way to prevent his +15 GOP seat from being filled is to help the Democrats get the House long enough to declare Trump an “insurrectionist” and try to disqualify him per the SCOTUS ruling that killed the cases in Colorado etc.

There was a time when I would have laughed such a theory out the door but the incredible irrational fear and obsession the deep state and the left has of Trump has demonstrated that no tactic is beyond them.

This type of fear suggests that however bad and whatever illegalities and unconstitutional acts I might suspect have been going on during the Biden/Obama years, it’s much worse and they’re totally afraid of being exposed.

I must confess that I’m completely confused by how some people react to events in Ukraine and Russia

They are at war with each other and now have been for over two years. During war both sides try to attack the other, try to destroy infrastructure and target the other side. This tends to lead to death and destruction the scale of which depends on the size of the parties involved and the state of their military. This is how war actually works. It’s why it’s something to be avoided if at all possible.

So will people PLEASE stop having fits when Ukraine hits Russia and when Russia hits Ukraine and acting all shocked when it happens and concentrate on finding ways of ending the war instead. Surely there are easier ways of acquiring graft then this and frankly for those worried about the Russian Bear the lessons of this war would seem to be that the bear is not what people think it is.

Speaking of Military Confusion I’m a tad confused by Israel’s delay in moving into that final big Hamas City. I understand there might be logistical issues that they may be working out and given what we’ve seen there is plenty of mopping up to do farther north but I suspect if anything is going to move Hamas to made a deal for those hostages it’s the impending fall of that final safe haven.

Of course I’m still shocked they haven’t gone all General Sherman or more General Lemay on Gaza but that’s their call not mine.

Finally day one of up at five off to work at 6am, mass at 6 pm and home maybe 7-8 has gone without incident. It’s been 20 years since I’ve done 10 hour days so the real test isn’t the easy Sunday, it will be the Monday facing rush hour traffic and the Wednesday when I’ve done four straight.

Given the Biden economy & and the debt it’s helped me accrue combined with the empty tip jar I’m thinking of picking up a part time job on that now free day I have but I’m going to wait till I’ve done this a month or so to see how this sixty something body handles 10 hour days over the long haul first.

A small percentage of Leftists, which includes Progressives, Socialists, Communists, and Fascists, see themselves as elite shepherds to the remainder of the population. These self appointed masters of the universe believe they have the right to rule over the masses who they believe to be unwashed and brainless.  These privileged leftists believe they are Pavlov and the common folk are the dog.

It is obvious that the Democratic Party is infested with this class of elitist Marxists   The paternalistic nature of the laws and edicts crammed down the throats of Americans by Democrats is a dead giveaway.

Democrats found that most Americans were more resistant to outright rule by leftist masters than those that had never lived in the land of the free.  The Democrats learned they had to be more subtle in their attempts to impose their rule on Americans.  Bludgeoning Americans into submission did not work.  They found that nudging us in the direction they chose for us was more effective.  Barack Obama implemented the philosophy of nudge on the federal level.  He used the federal bureaucracy to infect the rest of the nation with this vile crap. When Trump took office this nudge nonsense faded into the background.  When I saw this article, The Obama ‘Nudge Unit’ Rides Again – American Thinker, I knew that we would soon be up to our eyeballs in this Marxist crap again.

The American Thinker article was good, however, I found that the original source material cited in the article was far more informative.  I used those sources as the backbone of the rest of this article.

As you can see from this official White House document, 09-2022-Policy-Development-in-the-Social-and-Behavioral-Sciences-Subcommittee.pdf (whitehouse.gov), the Biden Regime is using nudge to force woke crap down our throats with subtlety.

The Biden-Harris Administration formally rechartered the Social and Behavioral Sciences Subcommittee (SBS) of the Committee on Science of the National Science and Technology Council in April 2022. The SBS coordinates policy action to address pressing social issues and Biden-Harris Administration priorities using the tools and insights of the social and behavioral sciences.

The social and behavioral sciences offer unique tools for describing, understanding, and addressing societal challenges, and assessing and evaluating initiatives, programs, and policies. As described in its Charter, the SBS leverages these tools to advance the Biden-Harris Administration’s agenda, to carry out short-term, high-priority tasks, and to lay the groundwork for longer-term coordination of agency efforts related to the social and behavioral sciences. The first short-term task of the SBS is to deliver a whole-of-government framework or “blueprint” for the use of social and behavioral science research to advance evidence-based policymaking by April 30, 2023.

The SBS is co-chaired by the Office of Science and Technology Policy, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health, and comprises membership from a diverse range of Agencies, Departments, and Executive Offices. It provides a forum for collaborative, interagency work towards advancing equity through the activation of social and behavioral science evidence

This article, Obama’s effort to ‘nudge’ America (politico.com), contains a wealth of background information from the Obama era. It was not surprising to me that the author of this Politico article practically purred with delight as he describes this Marxist brainwashing because of how far to the left Politico leans.

For the past year, the Obama administration has been running an experiment: Is it possible to make policy more effective by using psychology on citizens?

The nickname is “nudging”—the idea that policymakers can change people’s behavior just by presenting choices or information differently. The classic example is requiring people to opt out of being an organ donor, instead of opting in, when they sign up for a driver’s license. Without any change in rules, the small tweak has boosted the number of registered organ donors in many states.

Nudging has gained a lot of high-profile advocates, including behavioral-law guru Cass Sunstein and former budget czar Peter Orszag. Not everyone likes the idea—“the behaviorists are saying that you, consumer, are stupid,” said Bill Shughart, a professor of public choice at Utah State University—but President Obama was intrigued enough that he actually hired Sunstein, a law professor at Harvard who co-wrote the best-known book about the topic, “Nudge.”

The president officially adopted the idea last year when he launched the White House’s Social and Behavioral Science Team (SBST), a cross-agency effort to bring behavioral science research into the policymaking process

OK, but is this really nudging?

The team’s projects were definitely a form of prodding—giving people little pokes to improve their behavior in some way. But the more muscular form of “nudge” involves what experts call changing the “choice architecture”—automatically enrolling employees in an optional 401(k), for instance, or making organ donors opt out.

This article contains a great definition: The Best—and Worst—Nudges, According to CHIBE Affiliates    – Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics (CHIBE) (upenn.edu)

A nudge, as we will use the term, is any aspect of the choice architecture that alters people’s behavior in a predictable way without forbidding any options or significantly changing their economic incentives. To count as a mere nudge, the intervention must be easy and cheap to avoid. Nudges are not mandates. Putting fruit at eye level counts as a nudge. Banning junk food does not.”

This Nudge business is absolutely repugnant to the text and spirit of the Constitution. It reeks of collectivism whereas the Constitution was written to protect the liberty of each and every individual living in the United States.

Johnson in photo.

By John Ruberry

If I screw up at work, to the tune of $1,000 or so, I’ll get hollered at by my boss.

And an error of mine that costs my employer $10,000 will see me filing for unemployment benefits the next morning.

Chicago’s newly sworn-in mayor, Brandon Johnson, just made a $10 million whopper of a mistake

ShotSpotter, which this year changed its name to SoundThnking, is a firm that sells gunfire-detection software, has few friends in Chicago. It is blamed, wrongly in my opinion, for setting up the chain events that led to the death of 13-year-old reputed gang member Adam Toledo in a police shooting. A Northwestern University study found that 86 percent of Chicago police deployments initiated by ShotSpotter alerts led to “dead-end deployments.”

During this year’s mayoral campaign, Johnson vowed to cancel Chicago’s contract with SoundThinking. But earlier this month, a contract with his e-signature approved a $10,184,900 payment to SoundThinking, covering a contract extension approved by his predecessor, Lori Lightfoot, last autumn.

The mayor’s senior advisor, Jason Lee, says Johnson’s e-signature was mistakenly attached to the document authorizing the hefty payment. Of the contract carelessness, Lee said, “That’s not the procedure that we will have moving forward, but that’s what was done.”

The SoundThinking snafu was a two-day story last week in Chicago. Kudos to the Chicago Sun-Times for breaking the story but had Johnson’s moderate opponent in April’s runoff election, Paul Vallas, made a similar mistake, we’d still be hearing about the $10 million e-signature debacle. And of course, the national media, which is a phalanx of the far-left, is completely ignoring this story.

Hunter Clauss, who writes the Rundown, a popular political newsletter on behalf of Chicago’s NPR affiliate, dismissed the $10 million blunder as nothing but “growing pains” for the Johnson administration.

Chicago, because of its massive unfunded public worker pension debt, is essentially bankrupt. Its former cash cow, the North Michigan Avenue retail strip, suffered another departure last week when AT&T announced it was closing its local flagship shop there. Macy’s, Disney, Banana Republic, Verizon, and the Gap have shut down their North Michigan Avenue locations since 2020. The retail strip, also known as the Magnificent Mile, was hit by two rounds of rampant looting and rioting three years ago.

Chicago cannot afford $10 million “growing pains” errors. Don’t forget, ShotSpotter has not served Chicago well as a crime fighting tool.

Prior to his election, Johnson was a Cook County commissioner while also serving as a paid organizer for the Chicago Teachers Union. He was a Chicago Public Schools teacher before being hired by his union.

Vallas was the former CEO of Chicago Public Schools. He was in charge of three other school systems.

Prior to becoming mayor, Johnson was in charge of nothing of importance. Well, he does own a large home on Chicago’s West Side. But Johnson owed over $3,000 in unpaid water bills and fines until he paid up shortly before he was elected this spring. He also recently owed over $1,000 in traffic tickets.

As Barack Obama famously said many years ago, “Elections have consequences.”
