Suddenly the president has gone before the press to try to back off, suddenly instead of being stupid Mr. Gates and the police are both good people and might have over reacted.

The policeman in question has apparently been called by Obama and there is a great exchange over getting the press off his lawn.

It is interesting to note that it was after the Gates incident that his polls dropped below 50%.

This was actually a smart move by the president, this was going to bleed until they backed up, what will really be interesting will be how the liberal media which was all over the police over this will now react to the president’s sudden volte face.

This is now the only story on every Boston network.

Update: MSNBC is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen they are saying that Obama has handled this exactly right. I’m hope Patterico & Sister Toldjah weren’t drinking when they saw that.

Hotair comments it is a good distraction from Healthcare, but I don’t agree since it was a lead balloon to his popularity. 40 years ago Johnson figured if he lost Cronkite he lost middle America. Obama must have figured that if he lost Jon Stewart then it was time to cut bait, Rosa Parks not withstanding.

Question: If MSNBC and the other Obama media were all ready to lynch the police over this as little as a few hours ago, how are they going to re-spin themselves now that the president has backed off?

Update 2: Here is the actual video:

You know way back in February although I disagreed with most of the plans of the Obama administration I pointed out that they had only been in power for a few weeks and we really can’t judge where it is going.

Well we’ve now had six months (and boy it seems a WHOLE lot longer) and there is only one conclusion that can be made:

These guy are a bunch of cheap Chicago hoods and thugs who have been given access to the biggest score in their lives and are going to make the most of it.

There are honest liberals who see what they are and are refusing to co-operate.

There are honest liberals who are with him when he goes in their direction but loudly call him when he is wrong.

There are those who are so either so enraptured with the concept of this administration or so afraid of being called racist they will excuse almost anything.

And then there are the pols and business who see what is going on and are going to grab what they can and settle old scores.

This is where we are and we can’t do a thing about it till late next year other than make sure they know we will remember when 2010 comes.

Oh and you might notice that I put this under the tag “just deserts” that’s because we as a nation let this happen.

Update: fixed title

The title of this article is funny:

Has Obama Turned on Israel?

The premise was that he actually at any time supported Israel is a joke. One speech does not support make as the commentators at the Greenroom already knew.

You can not support Israel and Obama at the same time and anyone who thinks they can is a dupe.

In 1957 Senator Lyndon Johnson had a problem. He wanted to be elected president but it was apparent that no southern candidate could win the democratic nomination without being made pure on Civil rights. Due to the use of the filibuster (these were they days before 60 vote cloture) the southern democrats were able to block any kind of vote so it was necessary to craft a bill weak enough to keep the democrats from filibustering while not gutting the bill to the point where supporters of civil rights would consider it a scam. Johnson managed in one of the most amazing balancing acts in political history managed to shepherd the Civil Rights act of 1957 through the Senate.

One of the pieces of that puzzle was a vote on the Hell’s Canyon Dam. A freshman Senator Frank Church and other senators from the northwest had been fighting for that dam for years to no effect. Johnson managed to make a deal with those senators that in exchange for the votes needed to remove parts of the Civil Rights Bill (section III) unacceptable to the south, southern senators would provide the votes to get the Hell’s Canyon bill through the senate.

What those senators didn’t realize but Johnson did was the House of Representatives would reject the dam. It would be another 7 years (under President Lyndon Johnson) before the dam would be approved and a full decade before it opened.

Something similar is going on right now with Cap & Trade. President Obama and the House Democratic leadership are looking for a win for political reasons and house democrats leaders are making deals to get the votes they need for passage. Like LBJ of old democrat leaders know they are selling a pig in a poke to their members for their own political benefit on a bill that will not actually help those who it purports to help.

The question remains will the undecided members see through it? Time will tell.
