Morning Joe doesn’t read the SF Gate

On Morning Joe this morning they are saying that the president did the oath over to stop conspiracy stuff from conservative blogs.

It would have been nice if they had acknowledged that scholors had mentioned it should be done too.

They got a charge playing the clip of Chris Wallace on Fox joking about it while cutting the joke part too.

It didn’t hurt to re-do it but you know whenever Andrea Mitchel is on that show, the reasons I enjoy it just drop like a rock. If she could stop pretending to be unbiased she might be tolerable.

7:25 a.mAnd c’mon Biden made a joke at Roberts expense, so what, its not a gaffe and Roberts if he is a big man (and I suspect he is) can take it. There was nothing wrong with it. It’s funny and Roberts should joke about it himself. Everyone should lighten up on it.

7:37 a.m. It’s amazing how now that there is a different person in the Whitehouse that there are suddenly reasons to protect people who use tough interrogation techniques.

7:38 a.m. Suddenly they are going to defer to Gates on stuff like this.

7:40 a.m. Gregory suddenly remembers that after the OK bombing that the Clinton asked for all the powers that Bush did. I think this slipped his mind during the campaign.

7:41 a.m. Sources tell these guys that Obama has done “everything right” by the military so far. I guess being the first president to skip the medal of honor ball since Truman doesn’t count.

7:44 a.m. The bump music lately has been really good.

7:55 a.m. The money that Isaacson is now saying is being spent in Gaza to compete with Hamas to show them an alternative to war is a joke. If you think Hamas is not intimidating and funneling off those funds then I have a bridge to sell you.

7:58 a.m. Isaacson agrees with Joe and Pat B. that talking to Hamas is needed terrorists or no but not if they are not willing to stop trying to destroy Israel. Joe and Pat and Mika agree that since they were elected they have to be the ones talked to. As I recall Lincoln didn’t talk to the south without acknowledgment that union was a sine qua non. Stopping terror attacks must be the same.

8:13 a.m. Drudge’s “no bible” headline is being teased and rightly so. Please please please stop calling drudge the blogisphere. He is not a blog.

8:15 a.m. Pat asked what he swore on? As I recall the Constitution doesn’t specify swearing on anything. Lets please drop it. (wishful thinking on my part)

8:19 a.m. They are really giving George W. Bush high props on the transition and on his class.

8:22 a.m. Joe & Mika decry the low class booing and chanting that took place. Good!

8:24 a.m. Shirtsleeves in the White House. Pat notices, Mika likes it.

8:26 a.m. They mention that how Bush left with class while Bill Clinton still isn’t gone. Pat calls Bill Clinton “The most volatile cabinet spouse since Martha Mitchell”.

He’s not gone, He’s Never gone!

8:34 a.m. Erin Burnett says that Wesley Snipes should have run for Treasury secretary since you don’t have to pay your taxes if you do. She doesn’t like it and says so. This is a PERFECT example of the type of standing up I describe in this post. It’s the type that sticks with people.

The do’s and don’ts

At Big Hollywood (which will have a link by the end of the week as its been great reading) Andy Levy has an important list of don’t for us on the right now that we are out of power totally:

DON’T question the motives – question the policy. When you disagree with Obama’s policies, say so, and make it clear why. But remember that President Obama is doing what he thinks is best for the country, as President Bush did. Both men love America and want what’s best for her. End of story.

DON’T make it personal. We don’t need another Derangement Syndrome. We don’t need people doing things like emphasizing Obama’s middle name in a derogatory fashion. How anyone would think that’s beneficial to their cause, or to the country as a whole, is beyond me. Also, it’s not even clever. Neither are smushwords like BusHitler, or sillywords like Rethuglicans and Dhimmicrats.

DON’T pretend you’re being brave when you criticize your government. Not while people in other countries actually, y’know, DIE, when they do that.

I would add one thing. If people on our side decide to mimic the derangement that we’ve seen on the left we need to call them on it.

Lets hope that Obama’s decision to walk is just symbolic and not an actual reflection on the Carter vs Arthur watch.

Seriously considering the crowd and the mood it makes sense but please please PLEASE I hope its not another Jimmy Carter! Unless of course it is followed by another Ronald Reagan, preferably from Alaska.

UPDATE: Going back in the car.

Not bad but not 2004 Red Sox

C-Span says the crowd was 1-2 million. That’s not bad but its smaller than the crowd in the rain that celebrated the Red Sox 2004 world series win.
