One of the things that fascinated me during the Iraq war was the amount of bad information and press that was coming from the MSM.

Basically the media relied on stringers (of dubious source and allegiance) to get general information that could be spun any way that the media desired.

Reading these threads concerning the Sparkman murder it was like those days of yesteryear when the media still thought the war could be lost.

While the SPLC sees little evidence of hate groups targeting the Census Bureau, there isn’t much sympathy for Sparkman on those groups’ Web sites.

Got that even though the Charles’s favorite “civil rights” group says there there is little evidence of the census being targeted Newsweek manages to paint the picture they want to paint.

God forbid they actually deal with someone who was actually there as the Sundries Shack points out:

What is the difference between those two journalists? One of them actually went to Kentucky for three days, spoke to people in Clay and Laurel Counties and filed no fewer than four stories while there.

Guess which one of the two wasn’t in Kentucky? If you said the highly-paid so-called journalist for Newsweek, you win a cookie!

And despite the late Mr. Johnson (when I say the late Mr. Johnson I’m referring to his credibility) says he was not trying to pick up girls he was instead, wait for it…Reporting:

Baseless speculation about this case — and particularly, the attempt by some to make a political symbol of Sparkman’s death — was what motivated me to travel this past week to Kentucky, where I spent three days in Clay County and neighboring Laurel County, where Sparkman lived.

The involvement of the FBI in the case has resulted in an almost complete official silence from state and local law enforcement. However, residents of the area (including local journalists I interviewed at length) are profoundly skeptical of any suggestion that Sparkman was killed because of general “anti-government sentiment” (as the Associated Press was first to suggest) or the more specific “anti-Census sentiment” that is the subject of this Newsweek story.

He elaborates further on his blog which is nice of him since unlike his spectator article it doesn’t guarantee a paycheck for what he says:

It’s a free country, which means everyone is free to speculate how and why Bill Sparkman died. But ill-informed speculation and assumptions are no substitute for facts, and there are still too many unknown facts for anyone to pretend to know the motives of whoever put Sparkman’s body in that cemetery.

If the editors of Newsweek don’t want to pay for solid, sensible, accurate reporting, they need to grab themselves a fresh, hot cup of delicious STFU.

Ah Robert Stacy you forget, Newsweek is not in the business of printing facts, they are in the business of selling magazines to a rapidly diminishing segment of the population that has a particular set of prejudices. If they are not given what they want or expect will the magazine sell? Will their people be interviewed on the talk show circuit? Will they be invited to all the right parties?

It is that same sycophancy that drives Newsweek in this case and Hollywood in the Polanski case. The desire to fit in with the chosen group or the determination that their gravy train is best served by being acceptable to said group.

As for Charles, well I remember the old days when the left figured he was paid, some bloggers have suggested it and it would explain much but I don’t buy it. Why see a conspiracy that there is no evidence for when there is ample evidence of an angry jealous snit?

And have you noticed he always waits till Robert Stacy is out of town or unavailable to launch his attacks?

What a Maroon!

Oh and I didn’t see the Rachel Maddow stuff but anyone who takes her anything resembling seriously is not someone who should be taken seriously either. As Cynthia Yockey says

If Maddow wants to work guilt-by-association on anyone, why didn’t she start with Moammar Gaddafi’s testimonial for Obama when he was running for president, complete with the assertion that he believes Obama is a Muslim? Or Louis Farrakhan’s testimonial for Obama? The last I looked they were on YouTube, fer cryin’ out loud. And isn’t Gaddafi a Muslim supremacist — commanded by Allah to kill all unbelievers? And isn’t Farrakhan a Muslim black supremacist, commanded by Allah to … say really mean things about white people and unbelievers? Why is there no guilt-by-association for Obama with ANY of the murderers, crooks, Commies, kooks, anti-Semites and tax-evaders that comprise the rogues’ gallery of his life-long bosom friends and fellow travelers? Why is there no guilt-by-association for Obama due to his intimate ties to Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn — who missed killing ME by 10 minutes in 1970, Valerie Jarrett, Rashid Khalidi, Tony Rezko, Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Franklin Marshall Davis, just to name a few?

What a joke.

I just listened to the clip, you know when you don’t want to book real conservatives it really limits the number of different people you can have on. I can’t wait till 2010 & 2012. Proving those jokers wrong will be a great pleasure.

Apparently the fact that Going Rogue is #1 on the list at Amazon has completely unhinged some people.

The Amazon discussion boards freature barking moonbats desperate to go after Palin and somehow prevent people from buying the book.

Some Gems:

She was bad governor, bad mother, bad wife, bad grandmother, and bad vice-president candidate, what can be so interesting about her???? How to be bad..

And we have the traditional liberal civility:

Wow anyone who buys this book is just as retarded as her son!

There is an echo of Chuckie here too:

Sarah Palin’s Ghostwriter Pals Around With Racists and Wackos

and my favorite:

Yeah but is anybody actually going to READ it?

If you are unfamiliar with this particular scam, let me clue you in.

You see what the Conservatives do is pre-order a whole ton of books by one of their minions like Glenn Beck, or Bill O’Reilly, or Rush Limbaugh, Or Sean Hannity, or Sarah Palin, and then either change their mind, leaving the book store with a whole bunch of books that NOBODY wants, or they have their money laundering book outlet, the Conservative Book Club, sell the books later at a loss.

A lot of the stuff is posted by a “Bella Luna” “Luna” appears to be short for “Lunatic”. She has a blog I won’t include the link and add to her meager hit totals.

However in the meat of the discussions you have many more people answering in sanity to wit:

Dustin:

You obviously think Sarah is some horrible person, but it’s clear to me that you haven’t taken time to consider if she’s really all that bad, or merely has different opinions. I think you would get a lot out of buying this book and finding out for yourself if you can think for yourself.

Former Bookseller:

The proof of whether anyone really buys her book is how many you find in remainder 6 months after publication. That is the only true measure of a book’s success. How many printed and how many remaindered. Oh, and don’t forget to check your public library and see how many of the books they bought and how long it takes to check one out. That’s another good measuring device. Otherwise shut your piehole and stop proving to everyone that your photo is used as the illustration of the word “fool” in the Merriam-Webster dictionary.

and my favorite:

She is stupid, she is irrelevent, she is a quitter”…..Yet there she is and one little twitter post from her turned the entire White House program upside down.

The real question is this: Are we dealing with a group of people who do this because they haven’t got a life or are they being paid to do this or both?

All I know is this: I went to one Palin rally in NH. The line to get in was all the way down the hill and the street. It was so long that hundreds ended up in an overflow area outside the school in a field. The people in line were well behaved and seemed to know their issues, they were very pleasant to talk to.

On the other side guys in Union shirts were on cells trying to gin up people to counter them. It was so bad that the they had kids out of school (led by an adult) to yell at us. It was amazing to see a teenage girl shout angrily at Palin for being a bad mother because her 17 year old daughter was pregnant.

When I see the stuff on the discussion boards I think of that girl and shake my head.

If these people truly believed it they would ignore her and let us walk of the cliff. They are scared REALLY scared.

Update: Apparently they do #2

Update 2: The American Thinker knows what to say:

Now correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t I hear the Jurassic media bury the career of Sarah Palin just last July? And weren’t they joined in this mockery by the so-called conservative elites like David Brooks and Karl Rove and Joe Scarborough and so on?

Wasn’t Mo Dowd just delirious in fact that the wicked witch (of her world) was dead?

You betcha.

Well, just who is looking out of touch and foolish now? Hint: It isn’t the Killa from Wasilla. And yes, I think that is her Brinks Truck in fact. One of them anyway.

…who has spoken out on the Polanski stuff.

Polanski-admitted raping a 13 yr old-whys every1 in the arts upset hes facing jail? cause hes a gifted director? what am i missing?

The Hollywood guys better keep an eye on this because Morning Joe is just slicing and dicing Hollywood to pieces on the Polanski stuff.

Mika is not letting the Grayson stuff go.

Even Willie thinks if it was a republican it would be big. Barnicle is using the moment to of course call Palin out on death panels.

Mike meet Jayden Capewell.

I give them points for consistency but I think it’s more a bad talking point than anything all that outrageous.

After all they wouldn’t hit Kennedy for this:

Why would we expect anything better?

Oh and Dennis Hopper got sick all at once, I wonder if he didn’t want to answer a Polanski question?

… on his blog tonight lgf officially jumps the shark.

Just for fun lets take a look at how long it’s been since Charles hit Hugo Chavez. The last hit is April of this year. Ol’ Hugo hasn’t done one odd thing since then, no sir.

Now lets do the same search for Sarah Palin. Take a look at the hits (to be fair there are some defenses there too) but make the comparison.

Nope Charles hasn’t changed, not one bit and we on the right are just delusional to say so.

I predict that not only will Charles become a darling of the left, but he will at some time before or when her books comes out he will be invited on MSNBC to talk about the “White Supremacist” connection to the governor. I personally would be shocked if MSNBC doesn’t pick this up sometime before the week is out.

Take care Charles. Good luck convincing your new friends that Israel is worth defending, Afghanistan is a war worth fighting, the Mohammad Cartoons are worth printing and Iran shouldn’t have the bomb.

I would have thrown in the religion of peace stuff too but for some reason you haven’t used that term since April 6th. In fact you used the term only 3 times this year so far. In 2008 it was 36 times. In 2007 it was 165 times.

Has radical Islam become proportionately less violent, have they decided to treat women better or stop killing gays or are not preaching holy war or the death of people like Ayaan Hirsi Ali? Or is there another reason? Rather than speculate as others have, I’m asking directly.

WHY?
