In defense of Ace et/al on Palin

Hey it’s time to lay off Ace and Allahpundit over Sarah Palin.

There are times when Ace is a little too profane for my taste and being a solid Catholic there are times where Allahpundit drives me nuts but anyone who decides to throw them under the bus is forgetting that the only person who agrees with you every time is your clone and the moment you and the clone occupy two different spaces in space time differences begin. (yes that’s from Spock Must Die my geek is showing)

Let’s once again retell a Tip O’Neil story that I’ve told before:

Tip O’Neil is asked by Then Rep Tom Harkin to ask Labor to lay off of him on a vote that would hurt him in his district. O’Neil called the labor guys into the room with Harkin and talked how in 20 years he only voted against Labor three times. He then says the following:

Just think about it. In all those years there were only three times labor had it wrong.

Everybody laughed and got the point.

Sarah Palin in my opinion would make an awesome president and an even better neighbor, but she is not the Madonna. We are not Obama supporters and I am looking for a different president, not a different God. Republicans who disagree with us on Palin are our friends, not heretics to be burned.

Update: The Other McCain comments.

If you are CNN, MSNBC, Jim Braude, Liz Trotta, the DNC, Maureen Dowd, Paul Begala, Kos etc etc etc… you have reached the conclusion that Sarah Palin is doomed Doomed DOOMED! and that anyone who supported her must be a total loon and loser and of course nobody will want to vote for her now since she’s a crazy quitter failure. (They’d like to call her ugly too but nature, physical exertion, and people’s own eyes preclude that attack from succeeding.)

If you are a person who takes all the media says as gospel you might buy that too.

Let me let you onto one little secret. She isn’t after and doesn’t need your vote. Sarah Palin could go to your grandmother’s grave lay hands on the stone and raise her from the dead and you wouldn’t support her. We know that and she knows that.

If she decides she wants to run she has to convince Republicans to nominate her, she already has a large support base, can raise ungodly sums of money and can attract bigger crowds than all the other potential candidates combined without priming the pump a la Mitt.

She has conservatives, she knows she doesn’t have liberals, all she needs to do if nominated is convince enough moderates, and if recent numbers are correct she just needs to convince just under 1/3 of them to go over the top.

She has years to do this all over the country if she chooses. Such action will draw huge crowds and attention and expose people to not the caricature of her that you paint but the actual person who exists.

To quote Robert Stacy McCain:

Just because you don’t know what Sarah Palin is doing doesn’t mean that she doesn’t know what she’s doing.

Bingo!

Palin Clue #1

Buried VERY deep in Glenn’s long post concerning a 3rd “tea party” run for Sarah Palin and the debate on to go Perit or Goldwater is a letter from a person named Meryl Jefferson who knew something I didn’t:

She’s going to Simi Valley on August 8th to address the 50th Anniversary of the Simi Valley Women’s Republican Club. Seats are $150.00 a ticket for non-members. This is her roll-out speech. I bet the tickets are being snapped up so fast that not even Arnold can get one.

This is not the action of one who wants to go Ross Perot. It is the action of one who’s gone Galt on her own party and has decided to play the game her way.

Hmmmmm. This sounds familiar too.

There is a mighty familiar sound to Ann Coulter thoughts (via The Radio Equalizer) on Sarah Palin:

Even though she’s just a state governor, she’s a HUGE national star who is both sought after and attacked as if she is already a president (a Bush, not an Obama). But she basically can’t participate because she’s tethered to the governor’s office up in Alaska. Consequently, she has to fight with one hand tied behind her back and she also can’t go around the country campaigning for candidates and principles she believes in – because she’s governor and would be accused of neglecting the state. (emphasis mine)

Ok hands up all republican congressional candidates who want her to appear with them in their districts.
