…it’s because of posts like this

Unfortunately, Letterman is still alive. And people were writing me because of his misogynistic “jokes” about Sarah Palin and her daughter. But unlike my jokes, Letterman’s aren’t funny (and let that serve as notice that the humor portion of this post is now officially over).

The entire post decries Letterman and the rest of the left for it’s silence on this now and last year:

This stuff metastasizes. Behavior begets behavior. As I wrote last year — one of many, many posts:

The haters don’t care about Palin’s political positions. They’re driven by some inchoate impulse to crucify the woman herself. To rape her with words.

She closes with a warning:

That’s how it works. Sexism isn’t selective, and misogyny isn’t something that only applies to certain women. The dudes can’t tell the difference.

Every joke about raping Sarah Palin or her daughter is a joke about raping you.

We are going to disagree about abortion, religion (hence the Godbag bit in the title) Gay marriage and a whole lot of other things, but this woman is an honest voice and I’d trust her opinion over someone who beats their breast over Imus’ Nappy headed ho’s but is silent over the Letterman remarks.

Boy they are still afraid of her.

Watching Mike Barnicle and the Morning Joe crew this morning I was struck by their exchange over Palin.

When Sarah Palin was brought up the crew immediately brought up how she marginalizes the party among moderates. They said Newt was right to complement McCain but saying Palin would have been better than Biden was a bridge too far.

This is mind you after the fine showing that Joe has managed so far.

They then covered the interview on Hannity and the “I told ya’ so” business. They were obliged to ask, forgetting who is saying it does she have a point? They all agreed she did…

…then proceeded to refer to her as the next Dan Quayle and called her marginalized.

This is why I say they are still afraid of her. They know she still draws more than any republican in America. They know that she is telegenic and that ratings soar whenever she appears, they know that she is still very popular in Alaska, They know she has not been shy about going after president Obama and when given the chance to say she was wrong, there were unable to do so.

This is why the media is not trusted. Morning Joe is the most honest show on MSNBC yet they HAD to dismiss Governor Palin before and after conceding she was right.

They understand that unless she is marginalized she WILL be elected Obama or no.

This takes priority over everything else, but what really disappoints me is Barnicle. He knows real people and how regular guys think. When Mika pointed out the contradiction Barnicle dismissed her again. If anyone recognizes Palin for what she is he should, but I guess some things trump others.

Will they be able to keep this up after 4 years of Obama? We’ll see.

Update: And there’s another one.

Haven’t done this for a while and since I have a 2nd interview this week I might as well get it in when I can.

6:01 a.m. Nasty weather coming for the whole east coast

6:04 a.m. First Gitmo prisoner now in NY. The guy is actually being tried for a pre-9/11 attack on embassies.

6:06. a.m. They mention the Palin interview. Barnicle immediately attacks and they all talk her down….

6:15 a.m. …then proceed to agree that she has a solid points. It is only bad because she said it. They refer to her as Dan Quayle and marginalized.

6:17 a.m. How about that Obama mentions Jesus a lot more than Bush in speeches.

6:20 a.m. They hit Palin over the Stevens was acquitted the democrat should resign.

6:22 a.m. Stormy Daniels is brought up, apparently they know Rule 5.

6:24 a.m. They complement Obama on fighting release of docs.

6:28 a.m. There will be an 8 a.m. web chat with Joe, maybe I’ll ask about the Palin stuff.

6:38 a.m. Newt says Obama owns the stimulus they ask Harold Ford, he says the stimulus was needed.

6:40 a.m. Ford says it is Bush’s fault that the bill was needed.

6:50 a.m. Yankees vs Red Sox tonight at Fenway

6:53 a.m. Willie and Barnicle make a good baseball team.

6:58 a.m. Colbert in Iraq, the “but my ears are that big” is a good joke.

7:00 a.m. Joe on the Today show in a few min, will be simulcasted. Joe’s book is out today.

7:05 a.m. Mika was invited to throw out the first pitch at Fenway.

7:07 a.m. Ford says 54% disagree with Newt’s statement about we’d be better off, but what would they say today if the election was held today.

7:08 a.m. Mika point out that if you check out the words and forget that she said them you would agree. She mentions that it seems unfair.

7:12 a.m. North Korea comes up, nothing about what the president seems to be doing about it.

7:18 a.m. As you can see just because he is part of NBC doesn’t mean he doesn’t get an attack interview from Lauer.

7:27 a.m. Norah O’Donnell boy she is going to be nice to Palin.

7:31 a.m. Mika points out that what she is saying is legit. O’Donnell doesn’t want to go there tweaks her for saying “evolving” vs “devolving”.

7:34 a.m. Barnicle points out the 65th anniversary of D-day and we are talking about kids PC injuries.

7:46 a.m. It’s a start but not in my district says Cummings.

7:48 a.m. Joe: “Do you side with the CIA or the ACLU on the release of info.”, answer “I’m on the liberal side but we have to be careful.” It’s a real difference when you actually have the responsibility isn’t it?

8:00 a.m. Shouldn’t Joe mention the flip in NY?

8:03 a.m. How many House seats has New England lost in the past 20 years? Those house seats have gone south and are Republican.

8:13 a.m. Robinson hopes that Obama can pull off the gitmo prisoner stuff.

8:31 a.m. We can have Colin Powel in the party, but it would be nice if he voted republican.

That’s gotta leave a bruise

particularly when it comes from Victor Davis Hanson in a column called President Palin’s first hundred days:

The first 100 days of the Palin presidency, according to a consensus of media commentators, have proven a near disaster. Perhaps it was Palin’s scant two years’ experience in a major government position that has eroded her gravitas, or maybe it was her flirty reliance on looks and informal chit-chat. In any case, the press has had a field day, and it is hard to see how President Palin can ever recover from the Quayle/potatoe syndrome. Here is a roundup of this week’s pundit mockery.

Here is one of his examples:

WORSE THAN ‘NUCULAR’
ABC’s Katie Couric summed up the general disappointment with the president’s communication skills. “I tried to warn the American people in that interview a few years back what they would get if they voted for her. Let’s face it: She’s a walking embarrassment. I mean just count ’em up: The mayor of Wasilla thinks Austrians speak some lingo called ‘Austrian.’ Then she tries her hand at Spanish and comes up with some concoction, ‘Cinco de Cuatro.’ Next thing she’ll walk into the window of the Oval Office and expect it to open — oops, she’s already done that. No wonder that when her Teleprompter stalls, she shuts her mouth until it catches up. I’m surprised she managed to get sworn in. And did she think that tasteless ‘Special Olympics’ slur was funny? Or making fun of octogenarian Nancy Reagan’s séances? No wonder Wanda Sykes feels at home.”

Keep this in mind when Nancy Pelosi is calling the CIA a bunch of liars and only her local paper and the Washington Post consider it front page news.
