The corner notices some interesting wordplay on the MSNBC site in a story by Courtney Hazlett:

There’s been plenty of speculation that Levi Johnston, the father of Tripp, Sarah Palin’s first acknowledged grandchild, has been giving interviews to the likes of Larry King and Tyra Banks so that he can land an endorsement or modeling deal.

The line has been rather sloppily removed from the main MSNBC site but it still lives on via sites that syndicated it and haven’t edited the copy, such as here here and here.

Now unless Miss Hazlett has been drinking Andrew Sullivan’s koolaid I think an explanation is in order; what made her decide on that word when this was written? What evidence if any did you have to suggest that there is another grandchild out there. This should be done preferably on Morning Joe.

Because you can have so much fun if you choose to add the word “acknowledged” to any conversation concerning Courtney Hazlett. The mind boggles! Particularly during the morning joe liveblogging.

Looks like its a question of paying for things

6:40 a.m. Joe compares the spending to Heroin addicts giving people everything they want.

6:42 a.m. I missed the Obama side, so now we have Jindal, what will they say.

6:43 a.m. Barnicle not withstanding he didn’t sound far right to me.

6:46 a.m. The Globe is speaking nonsense and Joe is not taking it. There wasn’t much of a conservative candidate for president.

7:00 a.m. Apparently according to the polls saying that you will do one thing when doing the exact opposite does well in the polls. National Review had the best line:

Oratorywise, so good. Ideawise, so weak. Combination, so dangerous.

7:05 a.m. No wrongdoing but implication of wrongdoing on Palin well that’s news

7:07 a.m. Joe: Hillary was hot last night.

7:08 a.m. Do you really want to say you’ve got that “twittering thing” after just saying that Hillary is hot?

7:10 a.m. Steele is echoing Joe on spending smart move. If the primary voice is there then it is there the RNC will honor that.

7:12 a.m. The 12 step recovery for the party is to admit that we spent like drunken sailors. FYI Mr. Steele we republicans will hold you to that if you go back in.

7:14 a.m. The people will be the final choice, what is the Republican plan? In fact we DO have a plan they were rejected by the democrats. Building schools is nice but it doesn’t help small business or any blue collar worker not in construction.

7:28 a.m. It still sounds like he was on the campaign trail

7:38 a.m. How about that Buchanan DID swim in that pool

7:40 a.m. So I’m not the only one who things that Gibbs seems a bit over his head.

7:44 a.m. Jean said the speech is hopeful but will the banks help him out. Susie’s driver has the word, but it didn’t have the info they needed.

7:48 a.m. Would you think the president of Telemundo would be named Don Brown?

7:58 a.m. They talk census and he is right it is a big issue.

8:02 a.m. The hope is nice but there are no details says Susie, they’d better keep her off the MSNBC evening shows.

8:05 a.m. When Mika keeps pushing Pat’s book claiming that WW II was unnecessary and going after Churchill she is very much her father’s daughter.

8:08 a.m. Mika will be doing the old Dean Martin skits on the Vegas strip when she retires.

8:12 a.m. Maxine Waters doesn’t say we aren’t going to nationalize the banks, just that we aren’t there yet. As far as the planes go, she hasn’t read Dilbert today.

8:14 a.m. That is a really bad wig that waters has, unless I’m very much mistaken. If I’m wrong about the wig part I apologize in advance.

8:21 a.m. The country wants Daddy says Klein but he had to pause and think when before he said that the republicans were making a mistake.

8:22 a.m. You may think that cutting taxes in wartime is bad but cutting the military during wartime is worse.

8:24 a.m. Is this going to be like Korea? I see no reason why that would be a problem if it was.

8:31 a.m. There were details says Erin? Will he do the things he said?

8:42 a.m. Shelby has no debt.

8:48 a.m. Boxer: If he laid out the details it would have been boring. I actually think she is right, this wasn’t the time for details in a speech, I just wish he wasn’t saying one thing and doing another.

8:52 a.m. Mika apparently sounds ideological because she objects to throwing money at a problem, hey this is MSNBC I’m a liberal democrat I’m not supposed to get tough questions! Don’t you know who I am?

Morning Joe: The grownups gotta pay

Apparently the consensus is the grownups gotta pay.

6:32 a.m. It’s not fair but that’s the way it is.

6:38 a.m. Pat: Is Iran working on a nuclear weapon, apparently he needs more sleep in the morning.

6:38 a.m. Martin: Iran hasn’t been transparent NO itshay.

6:40 a.m. Joe notices that our troops surround them.

6:51 a.m. Charles Barkley on his arrest, That was Turrible Turrible Turrible.
6:41 a.m. Iran could be helpful? What planet is he on?

6:42 a.m. Palin approval in the 60’s they seem disappointed.

6:49 a.m. Apparently Letterman still is afraid of making fun of Obama

6:53 a.m. You know I never saw them laugh once about all the weird Obama stuff. One Sarah Palin Calender and they are in hysterics.

7:01 a.m. I’m going to be generous and say they are laughing at Pat, but I get the feeling that Mika wouldn’t put up with it.

7:06 a.m. I guess its impossible to ignore the CNBC Obama stuff. Joe might like it but I bet its killing the doc.

7:11 a.m. In the stock market we are now gambling on the government not on the companies, time to pull the kids account.

7:34 a.m. Mayor of SF and Pat is asking him about tax stuff, not culture? What a waste of a chance.

7:56 a.m. Server Blip, Dean says its in the country’s best interest for people to not lose their houses.

8:06 a.m. Revert to his partisan role?

8:11 a.m. Illinois has its own set of interesting rules: Howard Dean.

8:14 a.m. Barnicle is right why would Burris resign, no other democrat in the congress ever does.

8:23 a.m. Money party crashes the show.

8:38 a.m. Elections are destabilizing in Iraq? You’ve gotta be kidding.

8:41 a.m. Petraeus isn’t liked among generals. Its not odd he is successful and General officers can be very jealous.

8:43 a.m. You know it would be nice if someone on this show pretended to support the war sometime.

Online chat with Willie and Barnicle today here.

A fair assessment

Via Glenn Yuval Levin gives the fairest assessment of the Palin candidacy that I have yet read:

Either way, the Palin moment shed a powerful light on the power, the potential, and the ultimate inadequacy of a conservatism grounded solely in cultural populism. It also exposed the vulnerability of the Left to a challenge to its most cherished claims—as the sole representative of the interests of the working class and the only legitimate path to political power for an ambitious woman.

And, perhaps even more telling, it revealed the unfortunate and unattractive propensity of the American cultural elite to treat those who are not deemed part of the elect with condescension and contumely.

Read the whole thing. I suspect her CPAC speech will be VERY important to see what she will or will not be on the national stage.
