The answer to Monique’s question

In her post in defense of Robert Stacy McCain Monique Stewart asks a question:

I have never quite understood why the left hates Sarah Palin so much and can’t leave her the hell alone. Who cares if she wrote a book and who cares who helped her write it? She’s the FORMER vice presidential candidate. The election has been over for almost a year. Give it a rest, already!

The answer is because she is a reality in a world of leftist fantasy.

Much of the lefts agenda depends on deception and misdirection. Like a good magician the left needs to keep the eyes away from the slight of hand that is taking place. This is the reason why they Hate Rush, this is the reason why the left needed to keep the Tea Party stuff suppressed and marginalized. The surest way to turn people away from them is for them to see what they actually are. Thus they champion American Values when they don’t actually embody them.

Conversely they have to keep them away from anything that is real, and that is Sarah Palin all over. Let’s take a look at ScrewTape Letters for a sec compare. In this particular letter Screwtape is complaining how he allowed the soul he was tempting to realize the reality of his situation:

And now for your blunders. On your own showing you first of all allowed the patient to read a book he really enjoyed, because he enjoyed it and not in order
to make clever remarks about it to his new friends. In the second place, you allowed him to walk down to the old mill and have tea there—a walk through country he really likes, and taken alone. In other words you allowed him two real positive Pleasures.

Sarah Palin is a real member of the Middle Class, a working mother who ran for Mayor to change things and slowly gained power.

Were you so ignorant as not to see the danger of this? The characteristic of Pains and Pleasures is that they are unmistakably real, and therefore, as far as they go, give the man who feels them a touchstone of reality.

Sarah Palin has done this while raising a family of 5 and more than that she given the choice of having an abortion or giving birth to a down syndrome child gave birth. This is in direct contradiction to what we are told. This more than anything else is the reason why trig truthers NEED this to be false.

Thus if you had been trying to damn your man by the Romantic method—by making him a kind of Childe Harold or Werther submerged in self-pity for imaginary distresses—you would try to protect him at all costs from any real pain; because, of course, five minutes’ genuine toothache would reveal the romantic sorrows for the nonsense they were and unmask your whole stratagem.

Shades of Gloria Reuben here.

But you were trying to damn your patient by the World, that is by palming off vanity, bustle, irony, and expensive tedium as pleasures. How can you have failed to see that a real pleasure was the last thing you ought to have let him meet? Didn’t you foresee that it would just kill by contrast all the trumpery which you have been so laboriously teaching him to value?

This is a great description of the difference between President Obama and Sarah Palin. When you actually compare their respective accomplishments the president still can’t compare and that’s with 10 months in office. When you compare how the two of them rose it illustrates it even more.

And that the sort of pleasure which the book and the walk gave him was the most dangerous of all? That it would peel off from his sensibility the kind of crust you have beenforming on it, and make him feel that he was coming home, recovering himself? As a preliminary to detaching him from the Enemy, you wanted to detach him from himself, and had made some progress in doing so.

They know that if the public actually sees Palin as she is and not as they want her to be seen, if they see the reality instead of the Hollywood endorsed fantasy that they have created they might be shocked out of their lethargy. That’s why they hate her use of facebook to give her message.

Now, all that is undone.

It’s not undone yet and unlike Wormwood the left and their media allies are not going to let it happen if it can still be stopped.

Her very life is a total repudiation of their religion of dependency and narcissism. Like Reagan she is a reminder of not just what American is and can be but what THEY AS INDIVIDUALS CAN BE. She must be stopped at all costs.

That’s why.

…then you are really doing well.

Congratulations Charles you’ve managed to get your slanderous attack on Robert Stacy McCain actually repeated in a Newspaper in Charleston West Va.

Now Don Surber writes for a paper in the same city (Charleston daily mail) so far be it from me to deride the state but I suspect that this was based on the clip from Rachel Maddow via LGF now that’s sourcing for you!

So to try to score a cheap shot against Sarah Palin they have committed an actionable offense. Once they repeated that claim in print and online it became so. And since the paper is on the net so if it’s picked up by a paper or a blogger in the UK. Robert Stacy and co might even choose to sue under British Libel laws.

Robert Stacy has already taken the first step demanding a retraction:

Over the years, this malicious campaign against my reputation has metastasized spectacularly on the Internet, as individuals and organizations with various political or personal motives have elaborated and repeated them. Some of the original sources for these accusations (e.g., a column by Michelangelo Signorile) contained factual errors, which have been incorporated into the urban-legend mythology, producing a Gordian Knot of non-fact that is not worth the effort it would take to unravel it. Like ancient Alexander, however, I am prepared to swing the sword. Retract, please.

These charges have, as I say, taken on an Internet life of their own. However, never before have they been published in a print newspaper. Whatever malice against the former governor of Alaska inspired your publisher, editors and writers to undertake this false and dishonorable guilt-by-association smear, it was a most foolish blunder. Retract, please.

Congratulations Charles you now have a chance to make Robert Stacy a fair amount of change and to have your charges refuted in a court of law and it will likely not cost you a cent. Then again if he is already going to court one more person in the doc won’t make a difference will it? You will make a real great witness at the trial. I suggest deleting those Archives asap.

On Morning Joe this morning the talk is about the Baucus bill and how it manages to thread the needle on costs and how opposing this is going to hurt the GOP.

On Hotair Captain Ed Allahpundit says it will give the president cover:

but this does give The One political cover on his heretofore Big Lie about ObamaCare being “deficit-neutral.” Especially since CBO is the agency that’s been tormenting him for months with projections that the program will cost vastly more than the White House claims. Now, finally, they’ve handed him a politically salable option.

Red State sees the GOP folding:

I am told quite reliably that in a meeting today on Capitol Hill, Republican Senators began to rapidly move toward concessions on health care because they are afraid they cannot hold their members.

Robert Stacy is not surprised:

Aw, c’mon, Erick — “starting to waver”? As if, until today, Republican Senators were a formidable phalanx of conservative stalwarts standing on guard to defend our liberties against the unconstitutional schemes of the Left?

Are we talking about the same Republican wussies who endorsed Charlie Crist in Florida? The effeminate weaklings who supported John McCain for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination? So far as anyone can tell, there is not a single Republican in the Senate who possesses a sound brain, a straight spine and a functioning set of testicles.

Michelle has numbers to call with basic instructions:

Tell them to man up.

Anyway I imagine it will create some buzz on the bill, and when I say imagine it is significant, because as William Jacobson tell us THERE IS NO BILL

The Baucus Concepts are disasterous, but that’s for another post. For this post, let me get across a simple concept: THERE IS NO BAUCUS BILL.

Your esteemed Senators on the Senate Finance Committee will not be voting on legislation because THERE IS NO BAUCUS BILL.

Your esteemed Senators have so little respect for you that some of them are willing to vote in favor of legislation which does not exist because THERE IS NO BAUCUS BILL.

The actual legislation will be drafted in secret by Harry Reid and a few other people, including staffers whose names and political connections you never will know, and the resulting legislation will be rammed through the Senate and House before anyone gets to read and analyze it.

You would think that this little fact that the bill doesn’t exist would have been mentioned on Morning Joe today, you’d think wrong.

Fausta gets it:

So, we’re being told that the bill on the Emperor’s New Clothes is going to reduce the deficit, only that the Emperor will still be naked.

And we’ll be the ones paying for it.

The CBO covered itself in shame this time.

Senator Alexander gets it:

“This is an estimate of a concept, not a formal cost analysis of an actual bill.

Sister Toldja gets it:

What a bunch of malarkey. How stupid do they think we are? Waiting

Remember this also, this bill hasn’t been written yet. This is a preliminary analysis that’s waiting for the final legislative language. And that’s just the Senate version. The House has its own bill and, assuming they insist on passing it, the two measures will have to be reconciled in a conference committee and voted on again. These so-called savings, pathetic as they are, could vanish as quickly as a snowflake in the Sahara. The “Baucus Bill” is a bad joke.

I think that pols are going to rush to embrace this summery and use it as an excuse to not read the actual language that we will have to live by and it will cost us dearly. I think the media is going to go on a full court press with this.

I predict that either Rush this afternoon or Sarah Palin in Facebook or both will actually point this bombshell out and won’t people look like fools when they do.

Remember elections have consequences and we always get the government we deserve. If this passes and becomes enshrined into law it will be our own doing and our own fault.

Update: Third sentence out of Rush’ mouth. Great minds and all that.

…two subjects first Afghanistan:

The 9/11 attacks were planned in Afghanistan, and if we are not successful there, al Qaeda will once again find a safe haven, the Taliban will impose its cruelty on the Afghan people, and Pakistan will be less stable.

Our allies and our adversaries are watching to see if we have the staying power to protect our interests in Afghanistan. I recently joined a group of Americans in urging President Obama to devote the resources necessary in Afghanistan and pledged to support him if he made the right decision. Now is not the time for cold feet, second thoughts, or indecision — it is the time to act as commander-in-chief and approve the troops so clearly needed in Afghanistan.

This is a question of saying bluntly what needs to be said, but she said it on FACEBOOK so of course on Morning Joe they are snarking over it. After all don’t we all know that only a Wuss would be afraid of Al Qaeda.

Then on energy and the dollar:

The British newspaper The Independent reported today that Gulf oil producers were negotiating with Russia, China, Japan and France to replace the dollar in pricing oil with a basket of currencies. According to the Wall Street Journal, Arab oil officials have denied the story, but even the possibility of such a talk weakens the dollar and renews fears about its continued viability as an international reserve currency. In fact, today a United Nations official called for a new global reserve currency to replace the dollar and end our “privilege” to run up huge deficits. We can see the effect of this in the price of gold, which hit a record high today in response to fears about the weakened dollar.

All of this is a result of our out-of-control debt. This is why we need to rein in spending, and this is also why we need energy independence. A weakened dollar means higher commodity prices. This will make it more difficult to pay our bills – including the bill to import oil.

These are basic truths she bottom lines it:

Though the chant of “Drill, baby, drill” was much derided, it expressed the need to confront this issue head-on before it reaches a crisis point.

This is all about saying out-loud what people don’t want to say and the media want to ignore.

Update: Some in Headline comments disagree but I think the wisdom of the facebook strategy is self evident, no media filter and instant access by millions of subscribers who will see what she actually says before the MSM can play with it.
