…about this post concerning Pat Kennedy’s retirement?

You guessed it, he declares his and Kennedy’s Catholicism as a reason to support him, when Kennedy has publicly gone after the church and has publicly supported an intrinsic evil (abortion).

My question to the author is this: Do you support Kennedy despite his position/conflict with the church or because of it? If Kennedy was in communion with the church would you still support him or does that matter at all?

What I think people forget is the Democrats were already in trouble when this stuff came out. Kennedy’s revelation of the private correspondence between the Bishop and himself was, in my opinion, an attempt to boost his numbers and or his fund raising.

Tim Blair reminds us that everything costs something, in this case an upload costs 1.6 million:

A MAN who bragged about illegally uploading a Super Mario Bros computer game to the internet yesterday agreed to pay manufacturer Nintendo $1.6 million in a landmark anti-piracy court settlement.

James Burt, 24, agreed to pay $1.5 million in damages plus $100,000 in court costs to the gaming giant behind the hugely popular Wii game.

The Laws are on the books and companies are going to use their lawyers to make sure they are enforced. Until and unless they are changed ask yourself, is it worth it?

When you put the need to play a video game next to say Nujood and woman under Islam it really puts things in perspective doesn’t it?

And unlike Nujood, James did this to himself.

I’d hit him with a nelson but he’s going to be paying for this literally for the rest of his life, so I’ll spare him than and suggest we don’t repeat his mistake.

My 2006 review of Kate O’Bernie’s book Women Who Make the World Worse: and How Their Radical Feminist Assault Is Ruining Our Schools, Families, Military, and Sports is available at Amazon.com here.

My initial review of this book was edited down by Amazon. I’ve made a tweak or two and re-saved it.

A lot of books like this drop in price after release, this one is available for only $2.51! For that price you should be able to buy a couple of copies and give one to a friend or a local school. I loaned out my copy to Annie DiMartino and never got it back so maybe I’ll pick up another one here.

Type: Adjective Phrase

Accepted meaning
: when a person, team, army or other group loses a confrontation, and yet achieves some other moral gain.

Actual meaning:: Defeat!

Purpose of accepted meaning: To convince one’s self and or others that you have not lost by losing.

Results of said purpose:
Either self delusion or inspiration.

Commentary:

If a person claims a Moral victory they are basically trying to assuage the effects of an actual defeat. This method can be used constructively; I.E: To rally troops or groups to continue to fight in a long campaign or to keep a team motivated for the next game or an ongoing campaign (losing a battle winning the war).

It is more often than not used to excuse defeat and/or as a method of self congratulation in defeat. When used in this way it is not only delusional but narcissistic. Always be wary of a person using the possibility of a “moral victory” when going into a fight, that tells you they are not there to win.

Be wary of: People soliciting money for the purpose of winning a moral victory
