Once every 41 years? Morning Joe lets the cat out of the bag…

…While Charlie Crist and environmental activists and democrats jump all over the oil spill in the gulf Morning Joe accidentally undermined their argument while bringing on an environmental activist to argue against the drilling.

There are a ton of wells in the gulf and in Alaska etc that produce oil every single day. Joe asked why people weren’t prepared for this and the answer was because the last time something like this happened was 1969.

Run that number through your head and think of the reality once again:

Basically an industry that provides a vast amount of energy for the country has a bad accident once every two generations that might take say six months to a year to clean?

Think about the things we wouldn’t do if we judged what we do because of a problem once every 40 years.

The people who are suddenly running away from drilling are using Rahm rule of never wasting a crisis and have decided not to waste this one. Tens of thousands of high paying jobs in the worst economy we have seen in 70 years are going to be sacrificed due to the political advantage for the left.

Palin is exactly right on this, and moreover she is proving that she is one of the only pols with the guts to say the truth:

All responsible energy development must be accompanied by strict oversight, but even with the strictest oversight in the world, accidents still happen. No human endeavor is ever without risk – whether it’s sending a man to the moon or extracting the necessary resources to fuel our civilization. I repeat the slogan “drill here, drill now” not out of naiveté or disregard for the tragic consequences of oil spills – my family and my state and I know firsthand those consequences. How could I still believe in drilling America’s domestic supply of energy after having seen the devastation of the Exxon-Valdez spill? I continue to believe in it because increased domestic oil production will make us a more secure, prosperous, and peaceful nation.

The question is who else will have the guts or political will to say this aloud

No matter his faults on other issues…

…this article by David Frum shows that one some issues he still gets it.

The Peace process is long on process and short on peace, we are best to stay out of it, why? Because there will be no peace until the Arabs decide that they no longer want to kill rocket or blow up Jews. As soon as that happens peace will take place. Until then it all you have are various pols trying to make themselves look good.

I’ll be continuing to put up the various interviews but for now we have a series of short clips of the lead up to and the actual march in question with my commentary and some photo links.

First there was the revving up of the crowd:

Before anything else I want to say the two speakers there gave me access to the Gazebo to take some shots and were extremely polite to me. I may disagree with them but they get full marks on that. Here is a pan of the crowd:

It was pretty small at that point but small contingents kept showing up during the day, here is the second to last that came:

By the time the final batch came the total was about 300 or maybe a bit under. Here is the second Pan after the contingents showed up. It still added up to maybe 3% of the Tea Party crowd.

In a few minutes they were about to Watch, I checked with the Police and asked if I could walk ahead and take pictures, they smiled saying it was a free country. So they started to line up to do their march through the streets:

The Crowd started down the street with the police clearing the way. The public watched with some amusement and some bemusement as they continued on.

They basically marched a block down, two or three blocks over then back up toward city hall. Their cry was “education not deportation”. I would highly recommend education particularly on the subject of economics which was sadly lacking in this group. I would suggest for that they begin with Don Boudreaux, a bit of history perhaps, I would recommend Anne Applebaum’s book Gulag to reacquaint people with all the good that Che and socialism did for people and perhaps some current events with Byron York as none of these people seem to be actually have read it. Maybe even a lesson in English like the difference between “immigration” and “illegal immigration” which the entire march seemed to try to blur rather dishonestly.

The March then stopped near city hall where the Big Apple Circus was in town. It gave me a chance to show the entire crowd.

It was not the brightest idea of the marchers to stop in front of a large tent with the word Circus on it where one could take pictures. From there they marched by the graveyard where James Otis, Sam Adams and the dead from the Boston Massacre are buried. That would have been the place to stop and talk but they didn’t think of that.

The Democrats on the Sunday shows like Al Sharpton who said: “Nobody is talking about Open borders” certainly wasn’t talking about this rally nor was Katrina Vanden Heuvel who lionized these rallies as significant while minimizing the tea party rallies that not only in Boston drew 33x more people but did so on a Wednesday rather than on a weekend. It was blatantly dishonest. And I’m sure they would have loved some of the things said about the military in front of the recruiting center where it ended.

The truth is this march and movement has absolutely no chance of convincing average Americans of anything if their ideas are presented unfiltered. A great example of this was Diane a black woman who was working one of the two jobs she had worked for the last 20 years. She was unimpressed with the march, the marchers and their cause. Media outlets should be ashamed of themselves for pretending they are something they are not.

Update: Apparently the low Boston turnout wasn’t unique.

I think this is not just a question of MSNBC

One of the things that tends to drive me nuts about the left is how they tend to cry tolerance but have an issue showing any. A great example comes up in the story about the fall of MSNBC.

MSNBC is the network of progressives and for progressives. Yet, there is nothing progressive about the network’s employees being terrified to speak up for fear of losing their jobs. Progressives also like to think of themselves as the people who ‘have a heart.’ Thus, there is nothing progressive about making fun of a difficult and terrible experience of youth acknowledged by one who has suffered from the event, even if she happens to be the wife of a former president you don’t like. It’s mean – and it contributes absolutely nothing to the political dialogue.

One of the reasons why the Scott Brown election seemed such a relief was the almost unspoken rule in Massachusetts that seemed to exist where people who where people of a conservative bent felt pressured to keep their mouths shut in the face of other opinions for fear of being called racist, sexist, bigoted. On our jobs, at public events, etc to be conservatives publicly was to be looked down on, a second class citizen, a “redneck” or at the very least very impolite.

Some of us were too outgoing to keep quiet, some didn’t give a damn (fluffy Hussein and all that) but most people are polite and just want to live their lives without trouble.

The Scott Brown election and the dynamics in Washington changed things now not only are conservatives not cowed but they have found that their voice resonates nationwide.

Until this media wide problem is corrected they will not only be distrusted but deserved to be distrusted.
