…except for the outlets that manage to get her on.

Let’s face it, most of the MSM and the magazines that are attacking her are hemorrhaging readers and/or viewers. They will hit Palin they will make fun of Palin but they know that she is a breadwinner for them, and they also know that every moment that they cover Sarah Palin is a moment that they don’t have to cover this president and the best thing for their side (yes they have a side) is to avoid covering this president.

The media is going to be pretty much unwatchable all week.

As Rush has said, the left will tell us who they fear, and they are screaming it loudly. Watching Morning Joe today it is also not a coincidence that apparently the two of the favorite republicans of this show are apparently hit hard in this book.

Lets be blunt: Any Republican that thinks the advice of the media is worth taking for their benefit is an idiot and the concept that they will consult an editor of the Nation for this says much more about Morning Joe than it does about Sarah Palin.

A classic example of the traits of Sullivan’s Syndrome aka Bloggers Alzheimer’s

You might recall in my dissertation on Bloggers Alzheimer’s I said the following:

Like regular Alzheimer patients some brief periods of lucidity may emerge (re Iran) but when exposed to the “external threat” again (re: Palin) the syndrome re-asserts itself. And the patient will often make an object of adoration of any opponent of the external threat.

Andrew proves both points, the first to his credit:

I’ve noticed a few right-of-center blogs complaining of double standards on the left, in the denunciations of extremist rhetoric and imagery of the Tea Party marches. Ed Driscoll has a good point. The extremes of the anti-war left before Iraq were every bit as inflammatory and loopy as the Tea Partiers today. Now, they were opposing a war that turned out to be a catastrophe for all involved, while the Tea Partiers are just opposing the working poor having a chance to buy health insurance. But if Godwin’s Law is the point, many (but not all) on the left currently do not have a leg to stand on.

Full marks to Sullivan for backing up Ed Driscoll and others who have not thrown the left’s marches down the memory hole.

Those brief moments of lucidity are precious to those who deal with Bloggers Alzheimer’s and it is welcome, but when the trigger returns so does the disease:

Some remaining questions: When exactly did Todd find out about the pregnancy? And when did he discover that his son had Down Syndrome? Or were those two pieces of news delivered simultaneously? Why did the Palins make no attempt to prepare their other children for Trig’s special needs when they had so long to do so? Why on earth did Palin believe that the mere fact of her pregnancy would elicit criticism and disdain – “Oh, the criticism that I knew was coming” – when it would obviously actually redound to her credit as a working mom and governor?

I’m taking a risk with this link and quote but I’m an old hand with Sullivan’s syndrome so don’t try this at home, remember the warning:

No current treatment is known for Sullivan’s syndrome but readers are advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the subject as the syndrome can spread to the point where the infected person can become the trigger for the syndrome in others.

So be careful.

Q: What does the Stupak amendment and Death Panels have in common?

A: Both involved changes in Obamacare that proponents of the bill insisted didn’t exist in the first place.

You might remember back when Sarah Palin brought up death panels in the bill she was (and still is) attacked for it, yet the bill in the Senate had the relevant language pulled from it to remove the death panels that didn’t exist.

Now comes the Stupak Amendment and Palin has this to say:

All of us who value the sanctity of life are grateful for the success of the pro-life majority in the House this evening in its battle against federal funding of abortion in this bill, but it’s ironic because we were promised that abortion wasn’t covered in the bill to begin with. Our healthy distrust of these government leaders made us look deeper into the bill because unfortunately we knew better than to trust what they were saying. The victory tonight to amend the bill and eliminate that federal funding for abortion was great – because abortion is not health care. Now we can only hope that Rep. Stupak’s amendment will hold in the final bill, though the Democratic leadership has already refused to promise that it won’t be scrapped later.

And she doesn’t stop there:

We had been told there were no “death panels” in the bill either. But look closely at the provision mandating bureaucratic panels that will be calling the shots regarding who will receive government health care.

Look closely at provisions addressing illegal aliens’ health care coverage too.

Reality tends to trump things.

Q: How badly damaged are Palin’s goods?

A: “Steele’s elbow” and media meme not withstanding, she is so damaged that the republican candidate for Senate in Illinois is asking for an endorsement:

Kirk’s memo is tangible evidence of the power of Palin’s endorsement in a Republican primary. Kirk, a moderate by voting record in the House, is clearly very concerned about the negative impact a Palin endorsement of one of his primary opponents could have on his chances at being the party’s nominee for the seat being vacated by appointed Sen. Roland Burris (D).

Captain Ed confirms that Kirk really needs it:.

Kirk obviously wants her endorsement to establish credibility with the Tea Party movement, where the energy of the national party exists. That makes hash of the argument that Palin somehow diminished herself by endorsing a conservative in a Congressional race that resulted in forcing a liberal Republican to withdraw at the end.

Will Palin endorse Kirk? I’m guessing that he’ll have to do a lot more groveling on the cap-and-trade issue first.

I guess the media template isn’t strong enough to override objective reality when it comes right down to it.
