I mentioned this morning while Morning Joe blogging that I didn’t care for Andrea Mitchell. Its for reasons like this:

During MSNBC’s live coverage on Tuesday of the sudden resignation of Health and Human Services nominee Tom Daschle, reporter Andrea Mitchell suggested to Republican Senator Jim DeMint that the American public will see this as the GOP having “brought him [Daschle] down.” The Democratic nominee resigned over a growing controversy which revealed that the former Senate majority leader owed $140,000 in back taxes. (He has since paid them.) Mitchell sympathetically described talking to the ex-senator: “I just got off the phone with Tom Daschle. And it was an emotional conversation. He was clearly- it sounded as though he were tearful, overwrought.”

So let me get this straight. Tom “Tax cheats should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law” Daschle didn’t pay 140k in back taxes. The GOP objects and he ends up withdrawing and this is a BAD thing?

I certainly hope the GOP gets blamed for this.

Update: Added the missing “l” and Doris Kearns Goodwin is in that turf today.

And we are surprised why?

Powerline reports on this rally by Hamas and Fatah members in Minnesota:

They have this to say:

How did Minnesota get to the point where its state capitol can become an outpost of a terrorist organization from the Middle East? Until a few years ago, I wouldn’t have believed it possible.

Powerline is a really good blog but anyone surprised by this just hasn’t been paying attention for the last several years. Or hasn’t been reading Israellycool, or Meryl Yourish, or lgf, or atlas shrugs or Jihad watch or Front Page Mag etc etc etc…

Oh and that chant that Hamas is an elected government…so was the Southern Confederacy. And apparently in the same state of denial.

You know when you’re a geek when…

Charles Johnson almost goes Kryten reading the AP and Martin Kramer on the Gaza war:

This is one of those ludicrous media memes that refuses to die: fighting against evil only makes evil stronger. You’ll see it in articles about every conflict; it’s a kind of nihilistic philosophical tic that is nearly universal, a counterintuitive observation that’s supposed to impress you with its depth.

Here’s the dirty little secret: it’s not deep, it’s stupid. The emperor really is naked.

The question they never ask: if fighting terrorists only makes more terrorists, and only makes hard-liners stronger in every case, what’s the alternative? Giving up?

Did these guys report St. Louis as the winner of the Superbowl? Hamas has won in the same way Dallas Acadamy did; only in the minds of the press and now they want the same after result,.
