In France the IOC is doing their best to pretend that their insult to Christians by parodying the last supper with drag queens didn’t happen. They are exercising copyright claims on sites that show the video in order to suppress the reaction.
But the reality is there. The people have seen it Christians and our allies around the world have condemned it (although the French Bishops have spun and the Pope has been silent) and the reality of the attack, which would never be done to Muslims is here.
Meanwhile in the village of Majdal Shams Hezbollah and their allies where all in on the rocket attack there and boasted of it, until it was revealed that they slew a bunch of Druze kids playing soccer.
Suddenly it became “Rockets? Moi?” and the media was all over downplaying the attack, omitting the death of the children and saying that it was unclear where the attack came from.
Both of these attacks and their denials are the same.
Both the organizers of the Paris Olympics and the Butchers of Hezbollah hit the targets they were aiming and are proud to have done so. It’s just that neither wish to deal with the temporal consequences of what they have done and all of their spin is to keep those temporal consequences from happening.
But the reality doesn’t care, those temporal consequences are coming and all the spin in the world won’t spot it.
As for the spiritual consequences, we must pray for them, because those consequences are coming too and as Catholics it’s is our duty to pray for these, our enemies.
Now given that I’m a very Catholic guy, who reads scripture regularly (a minimum of 21 chapters and seven Psalms a week) you might think this would bother me.
But other than the double standard, which at worst annoys and which I’ll note, it doesn’t really bother me. Let’s list the reasons why it doesn’t bother me in order of unimportance:
I don’t know if they’re actual Catholic Bibles
None of this does anything to my faith or anyone else’s
As long as the person is alive it’s their soul to play with and or throw away
You never know what God has in store for such a guy, If there was such a thing as the Bible on the day Saul left for Damascus he might have cheered burning them too.
Such an act self identifies someone that I need to pray for thus generating needed prayer
If those bibles belonged to the person who burned them it’s none of my business unless I lived in the town and was delayed by a fire illegally set at an intersection
In a republic reason one is the key one. I don’t believe in hate crimes. If a person chooses to hate their neighbor that’s on them people have the right to their own opinions even nasty ones. As long as those actions don’t harm anyone and involve their own property it’s not my business. In fact if they had not left this in the middle of an intersection blocking it I don’t think it would be newsworthy at all.
Now if they sheriff decides to cite this guy for blocking an intersection and reckless endangerment (fire at a public intersection) I’m all for it but those are the crimes involved period.
If some guy wants to buy bibles and burn them, it’s on them. Now if someone decides to try to take one of MY bibles or someone else’s Bible, Catholic or no, and destroys it, THEN we have a problem that needs to be acted on. That’s theft and vandalism.
But I’m not going to be provoked by idiots being idiots who are only harming themselves to anything other than prayer.
Michael: You have to answer for Santino, Carlo. You fingered Sonny for the Barzini people.
Carlo Rizzi:Mike, you got it all wrong.
Michael:Ah, that little farce you played with my sister. You think that would fool a Corleone? Carlo Rizzi: Mike, I’m innocent. I swear on the kids.
Michael:Sit down.
Carlo Rizzi:Please don’t do this to me, Mike. Please don’t.
Michael:Barzini is dead. So is Phillip Tattaglia. Moe Greene. Stracci. Cuneo. Today I settled all family business so don’t tell me that you’re innocent. Admit what you did. Get him a drink. Don’t be afraid, Carlo. Come on, you think I’d make my sister a widow? I’m Godfather to your son. [Carlo gets handed a drink] Go ahead. Drink. Drink. No, you’re out of the family business, that’s your punishment. You’re finished. I’m putting you on a plane to Vegas. Tom? [takes plane ticket] I want you to stay there, you understand? Only don’t tell me that you’re innocent. Because it insults my intelligence
The Godfather 1972
That scene above is the first thought that came to my mind when I read Andrew Sullivan’s piece about Transgenderism going to far and hurting the gay movement. His attempt to pretend that his campaigning to redefine the thousands of year old definition of marriage for his own edification and self justification did not lead to the consequences that all of us were warning about twenty years ago insults me.
At best it’s delusional and at worst it’s self serving, all about distancing himself from the destruction this has does to society in just a single generation.
Did he REALLY think that have no consequences, Did he really think that “marriage” would be the only word redefined by his leftist allies? To wit:
The Human Rights Campaign, once a relatively moderate group, replaced “gay” and “lesbian” with the acronym “LGBTQ+” and expanded the word “queer” to describe anyone gay, lesbian, transgender, or even straight who defied heteronormativity. They changed the flag from a simple rainbow, to one that included some races (only black and brown — no Asians or whites) and transgender ideology. Their building in DC is festooned with a massive banner declaring their mission: “Black Lives Matter, Black Trans Lives Matter.” Their new head is a woman who calls herself “queer,” not lesbian.
Then they quietly changed the meaning of the word “gay” so that it no longer referred to same-sex attraction, but to same-gender attraction; and changed the word “men” to include people with vaginas and uteruses, and the word “women” to include people with dicks and balls. Checkmate for the gays! We are all now just bigots with “genital preferences,” just like the Christianist right used to claim. Just to add to the confusion, hundreds of new “genders” were adopted — because some teens on Tumblr once invented them and queer theorists loved them.
Notice again the use of the made up word “Christianist” as if the idea of following Christ and the teaching of the church that have been constant on this stuff for 2000 years is some sort of ideology.
It gets even funnier as he’s shocked, SHOCKED that fantasy ideal world he thought he would make for himself by redefining marriage would leave him and those like him unaffected.
Gay hook-up apps now include biological women seeking gay men and straight men looking for chicks with dicks. “NO MEN” some profiles now say — on what was once a gay man’s app. There are fewer and fewerexclusively gay male spaces left. Lesbian bars? Almost gone entirely. Lesbians themselves? On their way out. Dylan Mulvaney is exemplary of the new queer order: a femme gay man who had to take female hormones to stay relevant. (Compare and contrast with disco icon Sylvester’s view of gay liberation: “I could be the queen that I really was without having a sex change or being on hormones.” We are going backward, not forward.)
Of course we saw the slippery slope and endured the cry of “bigot” to give that warning that what is now happening would happen and worse, but we were to be ignored at best and attacked as worst . And then comes the biggest lie of all:
Then the queers upped the ante and did something we gays never did: they targeted children.
Really? Tell that to the kids who were not adopted because being Christian and not following your line disqualified faithful Catholics from adoption. We went from: “We just want the right like hospital visits and inheritance” to “Heather has two mommies” in the school libraries. We saw this pushed in the faces of families, kids, schools and entertainment everywhere, except of course in places where Islam has a foothold because as radical as the gay left is and has always been, they’re not suicidal.
He closes his penultimate paragraph with yet another Faucian spin
But I can’t in good conscience stay silent when I spent a lifetime attempting to defend the simple existence of the normie gay from the bigots on the far right and the fanatics on the far left.
Bullshit! You weren’t interested in defending the “existence” of anybody, it was all about redefining norms to your liking. It’s no different from those four hundred years ago who redefined “marriage” because they didn’t like the idea of different races mixing. It’s no different than Fauci redefining “vaccine” for the sake of covering it’s failure to protect people. It’s the same as Democrats ( ironically those who he allied with to push his agenda) who where all about lockdowns and closed schools and masks suddenly insisting they never had supported any of those things now that the consequences of their actions are ravaging society
And now Sullivan in this piece is trying to pull the ultimate Fauci. He had nothing to do with any of this and must now, that the true horror of kids being spayed for fun and profit is not happening quietly where the general public is unaware of it, make a statement?
I may not be a Corleone but I am a Sicilian, and it insults my intelligence that he might think I’d fall for this. Like Burt Lancaster’s Ernst Janning he is trying to convince us that he never thought it would come to kids being nurtured by the thousands for profit, or or the redefinition of “Boy” and “Girl”.
It came to that the first time a Christian was rejected by an adoption agency for being faithful to Christ.
The LA Dodgers had scheduled a pride night and had invited the anti-Catholic “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” a drag group that attacks the Catholic Church. After a letter from Marco Rubio noting the offence to Catholics the “sisters” were disinvited.
Gay groups whose hatred of faithful Catholics is only slightly eclipsed by the sisters threatened to pull out and the Dodgers caved like a wet blanket.
It goes without saying that if this had been a drag group that made fun of Islam the Dodgers would have run from these guys and denounced them publicly as bigots, but as it’s the Catholic Church the Dodgers are all in on hate.
What remains is what the response should be, I think it should be two fold, one spiritual and one secular.
The spiritual response that I would suggest is a Eucharistic Procession to and around Dodger Stadium, much like the one that took place in DC last week:
Over the weekend, the nation’s capitol saw a Eucharistic procession, the first of its kind organized by the Catholic Information Center (CIC), to bring “Christ’s Real Presence onto the streets of our downtown D.C. neighborhood.”
Fr. Charles Trullols, director of the CIC, said that he was inspired by the Eucharistic processions of Pope St. John Paul II, who led processions through Rome’s streets for seven years. He continued to say that the U.S. needs God to be put back into Americans’ lives, hoping the procession would help the country, including those in the White House.
“The CIC houses the closest tabernacle to the White House, and I have absolute faith in the many graces God will bestow onto our country when Christ’s real presence is carried through the streets of D.C. The procession will express our belief that Jesus is passing by and bestowing his love and help on all of us,” Fr. Charles Trullols said
I’m sure the Hispanic community of LA would really get into such an event, perhaps even bearing a banner of Our Lady of Guadalupe the Patron of the Americas. But the real advantage is that whenever you have the Eucharist you have the body blood soul and divinity of Christ and whenever you Christ to a situation you are working toward the good.
Of course a secular response might be appropriate too and there is a very simple one that might stop this in it’s tracks.
I’m sure California has laws concerning creating a hostile work environment and I’m also sure that there are more than a few devout Catholics who work for or play for the Dodgers.
Imagine if one or more of them filed a complaint with the appropriate agencies noting that inviting a group openly hostile to their faith as official guest constitutes a hostile work environment. Imagine the lawsuit that could follow. Imagine if this is promulgated in the largely Catholic countries that the dodgers recruit from.
The Dodgers have sown, let them reap.
In fairness all of this is consistent with the warming of Christ at the last supper:
“If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you.
Remember the word I spoke to you, ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin; but as it is they have no excuse for their sin.
Whoever hates me also hates my Father.
John 15:18-23
We’ll see much worse before it gets better.
Update: I just noticed that while the Dodgers put out their announcement on the twitter feed it’s not included in their spanish language twitter feed @losdodgers
