…or perhaps he has watched Stacy’s clips of Rick Barber and is afraid that he might run against him for the senate seat either way the idiocy has ended:

Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) has released his controversial “holds” on more than 70 pending presidential nominations, his office said Monday night.

Senators, usually from the minority party, often use the legislative tactic on one or a few presidential nominees, usually to protest parochial concerns. Shelby’s maneuver, aimed at nearly all appointments awaiting confirmation on the Senate floor, agitated Democrats because it would effectively limit confirmation votes to a handful per month. It also marked a low point in a partisan standoff in the Senate that has forced Democrats to find 60 votes to pass almost everything.

I’m glad someone convinced him to take back this gift to the left The smart thing is usually the right thing. Shelby’s holds weren’t smart or right.

Sorry Richard you get the wheel of fish award for this one:

…particularly when the US Attorney on the case is rescuing himself from the case.

Even more interesting is the time lag in the announcement. This happened the very next day yet it wasn’t announced. Hot Air asks:

One wonders why they waited so long to announce it. The press release is still not available on the Web site of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Louisiana’s Eastern District.

Mike Barnicle’s assessment of “Bad Parenting” when describing O’Keefe on Morning Joe today might have to be revised as may my “Wheel of Fish” award. I’m no lawyer but Ann Althouse is and she asks the 64,000 question:

The charge against O’Keefe is entering federal property under false pretenses for the purpose of committing a felony. What felony does the government say they intended to commit?

This is starting to head into Bill Sparkman territory.

I wonder if Jim Letten’s recusel will make the front page of the NY Times above the fold?

He said:

A Democratic Thief is as bad as a republican one.

One doesn’t want to pre-judge a case but to say the least it doesn’t look good. There is no question that if they were trying to bug a Senator’s office that would be a federal offense.

One should not get the idea that you can violate law with impunity. Of course it’s not the organized corruption of ACORN. We seem to be dealing with a bunch of 20 somethings who are too full of themselves. Unlike the ACORN films this is one story involving Mr. O’Keefe that will not be ignored by the MSM.

As Ann Althouse’s commentator says O’Keefe deserves the gratitude of the nation for his Acorn expose, but lets be frank, if this had been a democrat breaking in to a republican’s office we would be all over him. A reasonable person would conclude that this stinks and stinks badly.

Of course a reasonable person given the early evidence would have concluded a certain gentleman was murdered in Kentucky so if people want to withhold judgment that’s up to them. For me I gotta call ’em as I seem em and from what I’m currently seeing O’Keefe joins John Edwards in the as a winner of the “Wheel of Fish” award.

If subsequent facts prove me wrong then I’ll retract it.

Update: Breitbart comes out swinging

Update 2 : I think the egg is on my face in 35 days or so of this story O’Keefe has been looking better and better and the MSM has looked like a bunch of fools. Consider the Wheel of Fish award retracted.

Q: What does the media reaction to the Global Warming/Glacier stories and the John Edwards stories have in common?

This is how bias is done, by both commission and omission.

The latest Edwards stuff, if nothing else it sure proved this post right.

Update: I’m sorry but for this John Edwards gets our very first Wheel of Fish Award.
