I noticed this from Bill Mahar today:
Let’s give another example that includes takeout.
Today I ordered a Pizza from Dominos a 1 topping large for $8.00 (7.99 plus tax).
Now rather than have it delivered I got in my car and drove a 1.5 mile round trip, it took me 8 minutes.
If I had a Uber delivery it would likely cost $5-$8 or more plus tip.
It doesn’t sound like much but I’ll be on Social Security in a few years and those extra 5-8 bucks won’t be an option.
So let me put it to the young folks in a way they can understand.
Take that $20 Burrito example. Let’s say the local place sells them for $4-$6 bucks.
If you don’t want to take the time to pick it up, think of it this way:
Don’t think of that $14 bucks as $14 bucks
Think of it as the amount of TIME you have to work to earn $14 bucks.
If that doesn’t get you to get it yourself, nothing will.
