The COVID Vaccine Logic Pretzels

So let’s get this straight…

We are being told that if you get the vaccine for the Chinese Covid Virus you should wear a mask and avoid contact to keep from getting or spreading the disease you are being vaccinated for because you can still get and/or spread said virus despite the vaccine.

Yet we are being told at the same time that if you DON’T have the vaccine you not only risk getting the disease but are a danger to others. We are being told this is true even if you have had the disease and thus your body already has the antibodies for this disease whose generation is the purpose of getting said vaccine. Moreover we are being told this even though we are regularly getting reports of fully vaccinated people getting the disease and being made to quarantine in the sports world.

Now I have a degree in computer science but you don’t need such a degree to see the illogic of this.

That people are actually falling for this in an indictment of our educational system and/or our ability of self delusion, so lets cut to the chase and untangle this logic pretzel:

The reality is these vaccines are glorified flu shots.

Now there is nothing wrong with glorified flu shots, they are useful to have around and for people of particularly high risk of death from the Chinese COVID virus are a Godsend.

It should also be noted that given the emergency with the outbreak of COVID the fact that we even have glorified flu shots at this point is pretty impressive and said shots and both the safety and the effectiveness of these shots are bound to increase over time as the scientists who have worked and continue to work on them get more and better data through testing and experimentation. I’m betting that by 2024 or 25 the ratio of side effects vs effectiveness will be the same or better as an actual flu shot.

But given the increased risks over a standard flu shot and the fact that we are constantly hearing of fully vaccinated people not only testing positive but being told that they should be under restriction I can’t see a credible argument for getting this shot if you are:

Not at high risk

OR

Have already had COVID

Moreover given the financial and political incentives out there and the credibility of those involved I’d be careful of any pronouncements people give on the subject (feel free to apply that standard to this post).

So in conclusion:

If you’ve considered these facts and decided that currently the benefits for you outweigh the risks and decide to get one of the shots that’s fine, it’s up to you.

If you’ve decided that they currently don’t and choose not to get the shot or to defer until such a time as they do that’s fine and up to you.

Oh and If you base your decision on getting the shot on politics that’s up to you and who knows the decision you make might still be the correct one for you based on your own risk/reward standards….,but you’re an idiot.

On the Chosen Youtube page there is a video up about having to re-record lines in studio due to a plane flying over. In the video the creator of the series Dallas Jenkins had the actress playing the Blessed Virgen Mary re-record a line for episode one of Season two after it had already been broadcast.

It’s a flash forward scene long after the crucifixion  & ascension where John writing recollections from the Apostles, Mary Magdalene and Mary, mother of God of their time with Jesus.

In the existing scene Mary asks John why he is doing this now John replies:

Because everyone is here, I need to get their memories.

and Mary answers:

You need to mourn your brother.

Jenkins notes that a lot of people didn’t realize this meant James or as he called in the show: Big James as opposed to the much shorter James (James the lesser) so the line has been changed to:

“You need to mourn Big James.”

In the context of the scene it makes absolutely no sense to say “Big James”, both of them know who has died and even if she didn’t say, “Your brother” she would say “James” not “Big James”. After all Zebedee didn’t take after George Foreman and name all his sons George and nowhere in the series does John call his brother “Big James”

Artistically this change is awful but religiously it is very good news for Dallas Jenkins because while he wanted to make a high quality program I suspect he had a different goal in mind.

You see his goal is to introduce the story of Jesus and his disciples to people who are not familiar with it.

Now for anyone who has read the New Testament, this line would not be necessary because they would know that James the Greater the brother of John is who they are talking about:

About that time King Herod laid hands upon some members of the church to harm them. He had James, the brother of John, killed by the sword, and when he saw that this was pleasing to the Jews he proceeded to arrest Peter also. (It was (the) feast of Unleavened Bread.)

Acts 12:1-3

James is not only first of the apostles martyred but he’s the only one, other than Judas, whose fate is explicitly stated in scripture even a person with a passing knowledge of scripture knows this.

But while commercially the faithful might be the target audience of this series the real target are those who have likely never cracked open a bible in their lives, whose knowledge of Jesus in general and the tenants of Christianity in particular have been shaped by a world and a culture that at best is indifferent to them and at worst hates both.

This edit which I presume is based on the feedback from viewers means he is over the target that he needs to reach who are now seeing Jesus and his disciples closer to their actual context then they ever likely have.

He should rejoice and be exceeding glad.

The Cleveland Indians caving has already had a side effect

On Monday, Donovan announced another change coming this season. The team intends to eliminate the running of Warpaint, an American Indian-themed horse mascot, from pregame activities. Warpaint has been with the franchise since its inception but was previously retired in 1989. The franchise brought it back in 2009 for its 50th anniversary. As it turns out, the tradition should have stayed retired.

Why don’t we just name every sports team and product the “bland white guys” and be done with it because nothing says virtue and diversity like purging non-white faces from anywhere anyone looks.

Apparently Seattle is feeling the side effects of last year’s “Summer of Love“

“Our city is experiencing the highest number of shots fired in recent history and just a few weeks ago we had over two dozen shots fired in a week alone,” Chief Diaz said. He said it represents a 40% increase in shots fired compared to last year. The city has also seen a 100% increase in drive-by shootings.

The Mayor is talking about hiring more officers but the question is what potential officer in their right mind would take a job where he knows the city and the force won’t back them up? I suspect it will be those officers who are the least likely to do a professional job.

While Darwin’s Theories on Macro Evolution have some issues with the math his ideas on Natural selection are spot on, to wit:

“I have one child, a daughter, who told me age 8 that she would never have a child because of global warming. She’s now 34 and has never changed her mind. So I will not experience a grandchild. For her wisdom, I am grateful. I would be heartsick if I did have a grandchild who would have to experience the onslaught of changing climate.”

This is a NYT reader who got a lot of support in comments on a piece concerning Climate change/Global Warming etc etc etc.

This is both why the left needs to push radical theories in the classroom and to control who counts the votes. When you don’t replace your population you have to get recruits and numbers from somewhere.

Speaking of needing recruits something interested happened at my place of work a few days ago, a place where Spanish is the primary language where most of the people I work with don’t speak or understand English.

A woman came in wearing a T-Shirt with an American flag on it that said: Reject socialism Vote trump. This woman is in her forties and has very little English but she knows enough about what socialism does to want no part of it. I commented admiringly on her shirt and she gave me a big smile.

I don’t think the Democrat left understands that Cubans aren’t the only Spanish speaking people who get this.

Finally here’s a a pet peeve of mine coming to fruitarian:

That cannabis users have an increased likelihood of becoming schizophrenic is well established, but researchers believe their findings show that the issue is worsening and becoming more widespread.

Via NEO. I remember when my wife was a school nurse there was a chart on her wall showing all the of the various part of the body that were adversely affected by pot. Once the cultural left took over on the issue people pretended all of this was just propaganda but when you decide all your ancestors are idiots and racists you tend to forget the hard lessons they learned. But don’t worry millions will get to learn all those lessons again the hard way.
