Apparently Hurricane Hillary caused flooding at Dodger Stadium an excellent reminder that while God promised not to end the world by flood he gave no such assurances for Chavez Ravine.

Might I suggest that LA operate a program to make sure there are at least 10 faithful devout Catholics in the city at all times (Any Biden or Pelosi doesn’t count).

Speaking of Faithful Catholics it’s nice to know I have one for my Bishop:

The Diocese of Worcester, which is about 45 miles west of Boston, announced last week that Bishop Robert McManus earlier this summer approved a policy titled “Catholic Education and the Human Person” for all schools under its jurisdiction starting this fall.

The policy states: “Pope Francis has repeatedly stressed the importance of a proper understanding of our sexuality, warning of the challenge posed by ‘the various forms of an ideology of gender that denies the difference and reciprocity in nature of a man and a woman and envisages a society without sexual differences.’” …

Students under the policy are expected to act according to their biological sex, including in school sports, uniforms and locker rooms.

He’s going to catch hell here in Massachusetts but he’ll help avoid hell both for himself and those under his charge.

Donald Trump has announced that he will not just be skipping one debate but won’t be attending ANY debates with his GOP rivals.

While many say this is a sound decision as he will not be challenged on things like Fauci (which DeSantis et/al will eat him alive on) the problem here is that if he doesn’t absolutely wipe out his opponents fast then any decision to debate later will look like desperation.

Trump has a pretty good record as president and he should be spending every single day comparing the Trump years to the Biden years. I think making that point bluntly on stage with the rest of the GOP candidates on stage is a winner for him.

If even half of what is being said about the Ukrainian war on the Tucker Carlson show is true the disaster that this war is going to produce is horrifying.

This is yet another cost of the stolen election in the US. If this was Trump’s 2nd term Russia would not be in Ukraine today, but then again lots of elites would not have the graft they have made off of this war.

Cowardice in not stopping the steal has incredible costs and will continue to cost more.

It has taken less than a week for the governor of Hawaii to blame the fires in Maui on climate change.

What’s really amazing about this is that compared to Biden words in Maui he sounds sane.

But the craziest thing about it all is that I suspect when November 2024 comes along Hawaii will still vote for the left because they’re rather risk being burned out of house and home than vote for a republican or even worse a conservative.

One of the truths of life is that everyone makes occasionally makes mistakes, and when one does the best way to deal with it is to acknowledge it and move on.

Such was seemingly the case in Ohio when Rep Max Miller (R-OH) inexplicitly had a hissy fit when a woman with barely over 7000 X (twitter) followers tweeted out one of the most basic tenants of Christianity:

Congressman Miller treated this as an anti sematic remark rather than as a Christian professing Christianity and demanded she pull the tweet. As you might guess the national pushback was rather swift and so bad that even Illan Omar was dunking on him so he apologized leaving up the original tweet as it preserves the record.

That was seemingly it, one day story at best, stupid mistake quick correction down the memory hole it goes and a potential threat to his seat in congress gone.

Alas, it wasn’t that simple you see the lady in question above works for Ohio Right to Life and the congressman’s wife is on the board of that august body and while they were unable to create a victory in a critical referendum this month they were more than capable to getting vengeance for the unspeakable crime of causing him grief.

I can think of no thing that is more likely to encourage a GOP primary challenge to congressman Miller nor cause grief to the primary campaign of his wife’s father who happens to be running for Senate in the state than this.

Furthermore given Ohio right to life’s failure in their last campaign a move that divides and upsets their donor base is about as stupid as you can get.

Already the news stories have begun, the daily caller quoting the republic sentinel:

Marbach refused to delete the post from social media, noting in a response to Miller that Jesus said he is “the way, the truth, and the life” without whom one cannot come to the Father. “No one has hope outside of Jesus Christ and every knee will bow one day,” she added.

Right to life tried to get her to quit on their own she declined:

Marbach said in additional comments to The Sentinel that she trusts “God will continue to use this situation to bring glory and honor to his name.” She expressed hope that Ohio Right to Life would defend the lives of preborn babies in the state without political entanglements.

I suspect that God will take care of her, after all this is exactly what Christ predicted:

If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you. Remember the word I spoke to you,  ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin; but as it is they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me also hates my Father.

If I had not done works among them that no one else ever did, they would not have sin; but as it is, they have seen and hated both me and my Father. But in order that the word written in their law might be fulfilled, ‘They hated me without cause.’ “When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth that proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me. And you also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

I have told you this so that you may not fall away. They will expel you from the synagogues; in fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he is offering worship to God. They will do this because they have not known either the Father or me.

John 15:18-16:2

As much as this will be a pain to congressman’s Miller whose damage control has been undone it’s going to be a whole lot worse for Ohio Right to Life which is apparently more interested in cheap political infighting and using cancel culture for their own ends than the lives of the unborn.

I’d not want to be part of their fundraising arm after today.

…is to wish and pray for God’s mercy on themselves while at the same time wishing and praying for God’s justice on others.

Because if you are doing that it means you are forgetting this key line from the Our Father/The Lord’s Prayer.

Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

I suspect that no line in general prayer is more consistently ignored by those pray it than this is.

Today I was thinking on what I was going to write when I saw yet another story about people thinking the “end times” or “rapture” will be this year.

Back in the 1970s, I used to joke that someone was going to write a book titled, Jesus Is Coming Back in the 1970s, only to publish a new and revised edition a few years later titled, Jesus Is Coming in the 1980s.

Little did I know that on January 1, 1988, Edgar Whisenant, a former NASA engineer, would publish 88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Be in 1988. Hundreds of thousands of books were sold or given away, creating a national frenzy.

There is actually a long history of this (think the Millerites who became the 7th day Adventists when they stopped predicting the day the world would end) you would think that Christ explicitly saying:

But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

Matt 24:36

would have put an end to this but it hasn’t so the foolish and the grifters continue to play “the end is near” game.

When I saw that piece I tweeted out what I always say to those preparing for the end times and the great tribulation:

If you are practicing your faith properly then the end times will have no fear. So stop worrying about the world’s end times and live the type of life that prepares you for your own.

Less than one minute after I tweeted that out News broke:

For those who don’t know Bronny James is the son of LeBron James the greatest playing in NBA history who is currently active (I’d take Bill Russell over him as the Goat). His father is one of the richest and most famous athletes in the world. Thanks to his skill and hard word he has achieved great things ins sport and was in the posittion to give his family all the best of everything. It’s been widely assumed that he was staying in the NBA so that he could play his final year with his son after he was drafted.

I suspect he would give all of that up to reverse today’s breaking news.

I wish the best for young Mr. James and his family but let this be a big reminder that not a single one of us, no matter how rich, how connected or how famous is promised tomorrow so the best advice in the world remains this: Get Baptized, Go to confession! Get yourself right with God today because it may be too late tomorrow.

Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven.
