I like good news…

…so when the unemployment goes down from 10.2% to 10% that’s good news, seasonal or no. Even so something struck me about it.

Here is the story from The Hill

The nation lost only 11,000 jobs in November, the smallest number since the recession began in December 2007.

Unemployment dipped to 10 percent last month, according to the Department of Labor, as job losses in the construction, manufacturing and information industries were offset by job gains in temporary help services and healthcare. Labor said the 11,000 job losses meant payroll employment was “essentially unchanged” for the month.

Assuming the population hasn’t grown obscenely over the last year, how does the jobs rate drop when the economy has a net job loss? It it because so many more people have given up?

I’m sure there is a mathematical reason for it but it does sound counter intuitive.

Unfortunately unemployment in my house remains at 33%. Until that changes there is no recovery for me.

Just back from the interview…

…the job seems fascinating and the devices involved are pretty cool. Ironically it is less than 5 min from my first job out of college.

I could be totally wrong but I don’t think it went well. I was asking all the questions. If they were more interested in me I suspect they would have asked more.

Hopefully I’m wrong because it does appear to be a job that I would enjoy doing and the pay is certainly right, but we’ll see.

I haven’t checked out Charles’ site in a long while but I was interested in seeing what the new convert (great timing btw) to Al Gore’s Global Warming religion thought of the e-mails, he obeying the voices in his head says it is all a conspiracy to derail Copenhagen.

Even funnier he is still flogging his attacks on Robert Stacy, and continues the “canard by association” attempting to taint others, in this case, Hanna Giles and James O’Keefe who are the godparents of the Acorn revelations.

This is the same thing he tried in terms of association with Sarah Palin to attack her book.

I wonder how that has worked out? Oh I know:

Sarah Palin appears well on her way to becoming a million-selling author.

“Going Rogue” sold 700,000 copies — a number that includes pre-orders — in its first week of release, according to a publishing official close to the former Alaska governor. The official was not authorized to release the sales figure and asked not to be identified.

Based on his success rate It’s a shame I don’t have a picture with Robert Stacy, if I can get Charles to attack me with one my interview success tomorrow is assured!

I am so Linuxed out…

I’ve spent a good chunk of my waking hours doing online linux courses and studying. I have linux on the brain and am very tired.

Tomorrow I re-open my unemployment claim and maybe manage lunch with the wife, beyond that there are a pair of broken cars needing fixing (only the dough to fix one for now) and an interview to keep preparing for (no game night for me this week). Oh and I have to swap out a power supply on a pc when I get the chance.

The good news is since there is no chance of me not waiting at the unemployment office I’ll likely finish the Palin book tomorrow morning but I’m about as mentally tired as one can get.

I sure hope nothing exciting happens in the next 24 hours politically, I wouldn’t know what to write.

I blogged a bit yesterday morning before and after mass but today I just don’t know.
